Winter Blog Hop Banner-001

We are coming up on the most wonderful time of the year, aren’t we?!!  And what better time to join my friends the Stampin’ Addicts in a hop to show you some of the best of the Holiday Catalog from Stampin’ Up!  If you don’t know the Stampin’ Addicts, we are a dedicated group of stampers who love Stampin’ Up products.  If you just came over from the awesome Yapha Mason, I just know you loved her projects with Mingle All The Way!  She always shows the most lovely things!  If you are just starting here, all you have to do is click your way around using the buttons and links at the bottom of each post.

When I first got this year’s Holiday Catalog, the set that spoke to me the loudest was The Newborn King.  Something about that little nativity and the super cool trees make me so happy!

Jen Timko - SA Winter Hop - Watercolor King

My first card for you today focuses right on that lovely nativity scene.  I chose this watercolor look to highlight the Holy Family.  The light coming from within the stable and a little twinkle on the star are there to show the significance of the event.  Some Gold Foil adds a bit of shine on the border.

Jen Timko - SA Winter Hop - Shimmery Gold KingMy next card also has gold but it becomes a highlight of the card!  For this one, I stamp and emboss the whole scene in gold and frame it with a layer cut with the Apothecary Accents Framelits.  If you click to enlarge the picture, you can see the shimmer from the Shimmery White Card Stock.

Jen Timko - SA Winter Hop - Faux Stain Glass KingFor my last card, I am showing you a faux stain glass look.  More gold embossing and White Vellum Card Stock create the foundation for this elegant card.  Want to know how to make it??  I want to show you!!  I’ll be back on Monday with a video on exactly how to color this and how to create this card!  I’m super excited to share!

Now see….you love this set too, don’t you?!  With the details on the stamp, you can keep the rest of the card clean.  Perfect for techniques and mailable cards!

Make sure you come back to see me on Monday for all the techniques on the cards.  Now off to see the fabulous Tina Adams and her projects with Christmas Bauble!  Until Monday….hope you have a great weekend!

Freshly Made Sketches #157

FMS Final 157-001

I have to say that the design team over at Freshly Made Sketches has been on a roll for the last month.  Talk about some amazing sketches and crazy cool inspiration cards!!  No surprise, but the trend continues this week.  Amy O’Neill, the queen of fabulous color combinations, has created this one for us.  Yeah….just head to the stamp room now.

FMS157 - Silver Joy

I saw the star and knew I had to just continue playing with Bright & Beautiful.  For those who participated in month 1 of my Stamps on the Fly, this card uses some of the supplies you already have!    I chose this cool metallic polka dot print from All is Calm DSP and backed it with Silver Foil.  Then I cut the sentiment with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits out of more foil.  The star was stamped with Versamark and embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I added a little Rhinestone to the center which shows more in person.  The crossing layer is a piece of the new White Cotton Ribbon wrapped around more foil.  This card made me so happy and I can see it being one of my go-to personal cards this year.

After a couple of days of being gone flying, I’m glad to be back in the stamp room today.  More work to do for later in the month!!  I am, however, all ready for a blog hop that starts on Friday.  I’ll be focusing on the stamp set The Newborn King.  Can’t wait to share!  You’ll see the projects on Friday and then I’ll be back on Monday with a video tutorial for one of them plus more specifics.  I have my Frightful Wreath class tomorrow so I’m off to work on a spider today…..  Plan to see that next week!  Until then, I hope you have some stamping time.  Thanks so much for stopping in!

HYCCT1405 – Strong and Confident

HYCCT1405 – Strong and Confident published on 2 Comments on HYCCT1405 – Strong and Confident

Oh do I have something fun for you today!  I get to share one of my Hope You Can Cling To Challenge cards today.  This one is for Diane’s Two by Two, Side by Side Challenge.  She asked us to use pink and purple and two of something on the card.  Her story about the creation of her idea is really moving so make sure you take a look!

HYCCT1405 - ChalkboardAfter looking around through my stamps, I happened upon this retired one that I received two years ago at Stampin’ Up’s Convention.  It seemed perfect!  Then I remembered a new technique I saw the other day from Allison Okamitsu about coloring embossed images with Blendabilities.  It is perfect way to create a chalkboard image and color specific elements, don’t you think?  All I had to do was stamp with Whisper White Craft Ink and emboss with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Then I used the Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities to color the words and details of the stamp.  I used the Labels Framelits to cut the image and then created the blackboard look with Basic Black card stock and White Craft Ink again.  I used a wide paint brush  to make it look more like an erased board.  Then I took some of my hoarded Flower Trim (hey….I really do hoard it, I still love it!), and used reinkers to color the flowers.  I added a layer of Pink Pirouette and put it on a black card base.  This card turned out even better than in my head which always makes me really happy.  I’m hoping the message will remind one of the patients at the MD Anderson Cancer Center of her strength.

Because yesterday was World Card Making Day, I had to get a bit inky and my boys joined in too!  I love it when that happens!  My oldest created a card for yesterday’s HYCCT challenge to use no traditional adhesive.  He immediately thought washi tape and I thought his choice was so clever!

HYCCT1404 My younger son chose to make “just a nice card” for someone.  He used a Paper Pumpkin kit and then wrote a very kind note inside.  Made my heart happy!

HYCCT - by Nathan

I’m so glad you stopped in today.  I really hope you will join us in crafting for this wonderful cause.  There is a new challenge every day this month so plenty of inspiration!  I hope your weekend has been great.  See you again soon!

Freshly Made Sketches #156

Freshly Made Sketches #156 published on 12 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #156

FMS Final 156-001

Happy October!!!  I have to say that this is a month that will be full of stamping goodness here at Stampin’ on the Fly!  I have been busy, busy, busy creating loads of stuff to share.  Let me give you a sample:  Stamps on the Fly (details below) registration starts today;  a Stampin’ Addicts Blog Hop starting on Oct. 10th; my monthly Dirty Dozen projects go up on Oct. 15th; and I will be a hostess for the Hope You Can Cling To Challenge (see details by clicking the blinking button on my sidebar) on Oct. 30th.  Plus my weekly Freshly Made Sketches cards and my monthly Fancy Friday as well.  WHEW!!!!  Don’t miss anything and make sure you subscribe to my blog now!

Take a look at this awesome sketch from Freshly Made Sketches this week!  The queen of elegance and layers, Narelle Farrugia, is our sketch hostess this week.  It is no wonder that she has created one with lots of layering opportunities!  I just love it!

FMS156 - Fall Wreath

I was finally able to break out this new stamp set, Wondrous Wreath.  I know, it is supposed to be for Christmas but wanted to make a fall card.  So, not surprisingly, the stamp is versatile enough for that too!  I used the Color Me Autumn DSP as a backdrop for the wreath.  Then I stamped it using Crumb Cake and Cajun Craze ink.  It is so easy to cut out with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits.  Stampin’ Up has spoiled us with this one because there are cool tabs to help you line everything up.    I punched some flowers out with the Itty Bitty Accents Flower Punch (one of a set of three), doubled them up and added Basic Pearls as a center.  The pearls were colored with the darkest Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities.  I added a sentiment banner using Good Greetings – an exclusive hostess offering.  Then I added a little Fork Bow made from Daffodil Delight Seam Binding.  This card was remarkably quick to make because the wreath is so easy!

The whole team continues to amaze me each week with their interpretations of the sketches and this week is no different.  Go check them out and be wowed!

Now I’m back to stamping today and I look forward to sharing everything with you.  Thanks so much for stopping in today!
