Welcome to the Stampin’ Addicts Retiring Color Blog Hop!! I am joining in with my friends from Stampin’ Addicts to bid a fond farewell to colors that are retiring in the Color Refresh at Stampin’ Up. We have all chosen a focus color and you will have a great time hopping around for inspiration! If you are coming in from Cindy’s blog Heart’s Delight Cards, I know you are amazed by her gorgeous projects with Baja Breeze. Her flowers are amazing! Let’s take a moment of silence for one of my all time favorite colors, shall we??? *smile* Yes, I do really love Baja Breeze!
My color for the hop is Riding Hood Red. This is a lovely vintage red and pairs so beautifully with browns and grays. I particularly love it with Early Espresso!
I think is is wonderful for boy cards so I created a birthday card using the sailboat from Moving Forward (the RMHC set). I added in a little bit of Storytime DSP and a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes. The sketch is courtesy of Fab Friday Challenges.
Another fabulous use for this rich red is for Christmas cards so I pulled out one of my favorite new sets from this year’s catalog, Rejoicing with You.
I wanted to really show off the angel so I kept all the accessories as subtle as possible. This red takes on a real elegance when paired with the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder. I topped it off with a shabby bow tied up with a Vintage Faceted Button and some Linen Thread. Little sentiments from the same set were punched with the Jewelry Tag Punch and tucked under the button.
I hope that you have enjoyed my Riding Hood Red projects. Next up on the hop is Debbi at Come Stamp With Me. She is focusing on Bravo Burgandy and I know you will love her work! Thanks so much for stopping in. If you have any questions on my cards, I will post a little more detail tomorrow (Monday). See you again soon!

Both are really fabulous cards.
Lovely, elegant cards. I don’t know how I feel about RHR. I like it, but never seem to grab for it. I guess it got lost in the shadow of Cherry Cobbler.
RHR is one of the colors I will miss most 🙁
Both of your cards are just wonderful. LOVE the second card; great texture, cool effect with the cut out and the bow decor is just gorgeous.
Beautiful cards Jennifer. I really love how you made RHR pop with the Moving Forward set.
Jen, I love your new blog look! Your cards are a perfect use of Riding Hood Red, striking in the Christmas card, and fun in the boy card!
You did too good a job! I am really going to miss Riding Hood Red. It really is a great vintage-y red. I ♥ the angel card!!!
Such great cards! I love the first one with the sailboat! I forgot that RHR was in the Storytime DSP — I better get cracking on using that!!
Love these!! Especially that cute sailboat. I will miss RHR, but I have to admit, Cherry Cobbler made it almost obsolete.
Wonderful cards. You make me like RHR even more than I already do! Love your stamping style and creativity with embellishments.
Both of the cards are wonderful. One for everyday and one for Christmas. You make the color look so beautiful. I didn’t realize how much I was going to miss it!
Love all your layers and details (especially that shabby bow!) Perfect cards in every way!
Great idea for a hop~! Beautifully done!
**Sniff** I’m going to miss Riding Hood Red. I love how fantastic it looks with Early Espresso on your beautiful CAS sailboat card. And your Christmas card is so elegant!
My friend, you really rocked Riding Hood Red. I don’t know why I never used it more, but now I’m sorry I didn’t. Love, love, love the boy birthday card, and the angel card makes me swoon! Love the oval within an oval. 🙂
I love both of these cards, Jennifer! I’ll miss RHR — it’s not as bright as Real Red and it’s not as rich as Cherry Cobbler — it was a good “neutral” red (if there can be such a thing). And I too am in mourning over Baja Breeze! I love that color — it goes so well with everything vintage. Hopefully, there will be a great blue in the new in-colors!
