Guess what??!! I am the sketch hostess for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches!! When I chose this sketch I had designer papers in mind. I’m hoping it will be a great way to showcase some of your favorites!
I chose to use the Paisley Petals DSP since it has such pretty spring colors. My only debate what which stamp set to use. I decided to go old school and pulled out a retired hostess set called Of the Earth. This set was a favorite but I didn’t use this particular stamp very much…not sure why!! It seemed perfect here. I inked it up with lighter colors and then added darker colors for accents. After doing that, I sponged over the stamp to soften the lines. I always seem to need thank you cards so I chose the sentiment from Day of Gratitude. Such a pretty font!! Finally, I added a little button for some balance to the card.
I hope you like the sketch and I know you will love the cards the design team made with it!! We have two new guest designers for the month of April, Kathy Tanner and Lisa Johansen, and they are amazing!
Not sure if I can post again before the weekend so I want to take the opportunity to wish you a wonderful Passover and Easter weekend. Thanks for stopping by today. See you again soon!

This is the best card I have seen made from this paper! That paper overwhelms me and I don’t know what to do with it – now I know! Love how you tamed the DSP with a beautiful simple image!
Beautiful, Jen! What a perfect sketch for this DSP!
I agree with Linda! That paper is a tough one, but you made it look gorgeous. You definitely rocked your sketch this week. 🙂
Lovely card…love the colors – very elegant.
I agree totally with Linda above! I also like your images: they are stunning. They almost look painted. You’ve made a lovely card.
I think we always forget that, as card makers, we don’t use a whole 12×12 piece of DSP; we’re just using a little bit. I especially like how you broke up that large-ish block into 2 blocks; keeps it toned down. You rocked this one! Don’t know how you do it with family, flying, etc etc etc.
Great card Jennifer, love that you used happy springy colours to create such a pretty scene! The button and bow is the perfect accent too! Awesome sketch this week my friend!
Gorgeous! Love the dimension you created with the colours on the stamp!
Great sketch, and a very pretty card!!
Simply stunning.
What a great card Jenn …. the colours are wonderful and the theming is so soft, serene and beautiful … your image is just lovely and your colouring is superb!
Thanks for this great sketch Jenn … it is definitely a keeper!!!
This is so pretty Jen! I love the colours you’ve chosen for your stamped image and the papers work beautifully with it.
Your use of the papers is so pretty. x
This is a great sketch you’ve got going on here, and a very pretty card to show it off with. And I think everyone is right about the tough paper and how you used it so beautifully. I’ve got the companion stamp set to this paper and it so intimidating I don’t know what to do with it!
This is so pretty! I love the colors you used on the stamp; it coordinates in the best possible way with the papers. Really pretty!
