FMS Final 92-001

Another week gone so quickly and it is my favorite stamping day again!!  We have a fresh new sketch for you this week over at Freshly Made Sketches.  This one comes courtesy of the lovely Jen Brum.  Cool, huh??!!

FMS92 - Gingham ThanksI’m afraid that my card doesn’t do the sketch justice this week but some weeks are like that!  I have been gone lots.  Just got home from a trip last night and am now fighting a nasty cough/no voice.  Ugh!!  Summer flying is definitely in full swing along with weather delays and other things that make the flying days long and the sleeps too short.  In any case, I used the Gingham Garden DSP and cut the curve into it by hand.  I added the Stretch Ruffled Ribbon again because it drapes on the curve so well.  The flowers were fussy cut out of the DSP and I added the sentiment from Six-Sided Sampler.

I am hoping for some stamping time later today and tomorrow.  I will be participating in a fun blog hop with my upline’s group Hawaii Ink on Sunday!  Make sure you stop back then to see what we have to show you from the new catalog!!

Until then, so glad you dropped in!  I appreciate each of you and thank you all for the kind words you leave me!  Now make sure you get over to the challenge site!  There are some really cool cards by the DT this week!  See you soon!

Stamp:  Six-Sided Sampler; Paper:  Gingham Garden, Night of Navy, Whisper White; Ink:  Night of Navy; Accessories:  Scissors, Strawberry Slush Stretch Ruffled Trim, Glue Dots, Dimensionals

FMS Final 91-001

Yippee!  It is Wednesday!!  Freshly Made Sketches day!  Our sketch this week is from lovely and talented Cindy Hall – another great one for using again and again.  There a lots of ways to use it.  You can stamp the big panel or use some DSP…the choice is yours!

FMS91 - Strawberry KindnessI chose to stamp the big panel, mostly as an excuse to pull out my brand new stamps!  This one is Gifts of Kindness and it was right at the top of my “must haves” out of the new catalog.  I love this beautiful flower and the sentiments are some of the best I have seen (especially for thank you notes).  Of course I had to ink up with some new and returning colors so I pulled out Strawberry Slush, a new In Color, and Pear Pizzazz, a returning favorite.  Aren’t they pretty together??!!  That scalloped edge in the sketch said “Stretch Ruffle Trim” to me and I just had to use the Strawberry Slush version of it.  It is so pretty and so easy to use for a pop of color and texture!  Some Gingham Garden DSP in Daffodil Delight adds a little interest on the side and thought that a Vintage Faceted Button was a nice addition to the sentiment banner.  That sentiment is from Gifts of Kindness and that font is simply beautiful, don’t you think?

I look forward to seeing all that you create in the gallery this week.  After seeing the awesome creations from the DT, I know there will be lots of variety and fun things to admire!  Make sure you go tell Cindy how much you love the sketch too!

I’m so glad you stopped in today.  Hoping for some stamping time later today and to have something to share later this week.  Until then, have a fantastic week!  See you soon!

Stamp:  Gifts of Kindness: Paper:  Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Gingham Garden DSP; Ink:  Strawberry Slush, Pear Pizzazz; Accessories:  Strawberry Slush Stretch Ruffle Trim, Vintage Faceted Button, Baker’s Twine, Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Epic Father’s Day

Epic Father’s Day published on No Comments on Epic Father’s Day

Father's Day - Dad TAs promised, I’m back today with another Father’s Day card.  This one is for my father-in-law.   I wanted to play with the Epic Day coordinating products and thought this might be fun.  So I put a strip of the Washi Tape across some Naturals Ivory card stock then popped out an oval with the Oval Framelits and placed a piece of the chevron print behind it.  I used the Hearts a Flutter little heart framelit to punch out this map-like Calypso Coral print and added a button tied with Linen Thread.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  I really liked this one but when I handed it to my husband to approve he noted that it looks like an Easter egg.  Hmm….maybe he has a point, lol!!  In any case, off it went in the mail and I hope that Dad likes it.

Short and sweet today.  Yesterday was a LOOOONGGGG airline day.  I was supposed to fly from Washington to Newark to Chicago and back home but no….not so much.  Lots of weather.  Lots of Air Traffic Control delays.  One tired pilot…only made it to Newark.  The rest of the trip today (I hope).

I hope your weekend is great!  Thanks so much for stopping in and I hope to see you again soon!

Stamp:  Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper:  Epic Day DSP, Crumb Cake, Naturals Ivory; Ink:  Soft Suede; Accessories:  Big Shot, Ovals Framelits, Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Epic Day Washi Tape, Neutrals Buttons (ret), Linen Thread, Dimensionals

FabFriday 19 – A Plane for Dad

FabFri19 - Father's Day

Guess what??!!  I got some extra stamping time yesterday!!  Well, in reality I had to MAKE some extra stamping time since I needed to get a few things done.  I finished up teacher gifts and then wanted to make something special for my husband for Father’s Day.  He does so much for our family and supports my stamping (albeit with funny songs about Stampin’ Up that all the boys sing) so the least I could do was make the man a nice card.

Fab Fri Logos-019The team over at Fab Friday have this great sketch that I really wanted to try.  I just love it!  Apparently I was strongly influenced by their sketch colors too, lol!  I have a retired set that I have held onto because it is so perfect for our family.  I hope my DH doesn’t get tired of Plane & Simple because he seems to get cards made with it more often than not.  I thought the designs from the Epic Day DSP were perfect to go with the line art of the airplane.  The lined print kind of reminds me of an old flight log.  The Pool Party print is mostly covered but I love that there are descriptive words on it!!  I thought that some Vintage Trinkets and a retired clip were the perfect accessories to this distressed looking card.

Now I really will be back tomorrow with another Father’s Day card.  I’m so glad you could stop by today and I hope you have a great one!  See you tomorrow!

Stamps:  Plane & Simple, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper:  Epic Day DSP, Crumb Cake, Basic Gray; Ink:  Basic Gray; Accessories:  2-1/2″ Circle Punch, Vintage Trinkets, Mini Library Clip (ret),  Stampin’ Distress Tool, Dimensionals

Freshly Made Sketches #90

Freshly Made Sketches #90 published on 11 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #90

FMS Final 90-001I think that summer is almost officially here!!  My boys have started swim team and tomorrow is their last day of school.  The summer flying seems to be in full swing (make sure you look for me if you are on a United Airbus…especially on a weekend, lol) and I am working to find time for stamping.  That said, it is easy to stamp when you have a sketch this great!  Linda Callahan really did a fantastic job on this and you are going to have such fun using it!!

FMS90 - Creative BirthdayI am not so patiently waiting for my new catalog order to arrive (it should arrive today!!) so I chose to combine a little new with some old favorites.  The colors…oh yes, this is a very happy color combination for me!!  The new In Color Crisp Cantaloupe pairs beautifully with Early Espresso.  I used the Core’dinations version of Early Espresso for embossing and ran the split panel through with the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.  I lightly sanded the Espresso side (trying to keep it clean) just so that you could see the bit of “core color” peeking through.  I thought Creative Elements paired nicely with the embossing folder so I stamped the flourish and then cut out a butterfly from the same set.  A sentiment from Petite Pairs seemed like a nice match.  I added in a little bit of retired Early Espresso Satin Ribbon tied with a retired Neutrals button.  I topped the button and the butterfly with Basic Pearls.  This card doesn’t have a particular recipient yet but I can think of a few people I would love to send it to!

I actually said “wow” out loud at this week’s design team cards!  Truly, I am incredibly lucky to be associated with such amazing talent!!  That creativity is not limited to the team though.  I am thrilled every week by the inspiration I find in the gallery!  I love reading your posts and seeing your work!!

Ok,  I have a card to share with you on Friday.  Father’s Day is almost here and I’m trying to get everything ready!  I look forward to showing the card I made for my father-in-law!  Until then, thanks for stopping in!  See you soon!

Stamps:  Creative Elements, Petite Pairs; Paper:  Early Espresso Core’dinations, Crisp Cantaloupe, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso; Ink:  Early Espresso, Crisp Cantaloupe; Accessories:  Big Shot, Fancy Fan EF, Basic Pearls, Neutrals Buttons (ret), Espresso Satin Ribbon (ret)

Soccer Thank You

Soccer Thank You published on 5 Comments on Soccer Thank You

Soccer Thank YouJust a fun card today.  I have two sons that are soccer players and they have volunteer coaches that do so much!  My oldest son has been with his coach for 3 seasons and she is such a fantastic person!  He will be aging up next year and just made a travel team in our area.  We are very excited for him and much of the credit goes to his solid training.  The team’s end of season party was yesterday so I made this card for all the kids to sign.  Fun, isn’t it?!  I saw the idea of using the Hexagon Embossing Folder for a soccer ball somewhere but can’t find it now.  In any case, I embossed  a piece of Whisper White and a piece of Basic Black with the folder.  Following the lines, I cut the black hexagons out and attached them to the white in what looked like a soccer ball pattern.  Then I punched out the ball with a 2-1/2″” Circle Punch.  I used the Polka Dot Parade DSP to create the background.  First I used the Old Olive print and cut a fringe to create grass.  I attached it to a Marina Mist print to finish.  A little piece of 1/8″ White Taffeta Ribbon tied to a Neutrals Button (style retired) along with the sentiment on the little Jewelry Punch Tags (punch retired).  Now you know what to make for those soccer coaches!!

I’m sitting at the airport as I type this so I’m pretty sure no stamping will happen over the next couple of days.  Maybe, maybe the schedulers will be kind and I can get a little in at the beginning of the week.  Until then, I hope that your weekend is great!  Thanks for stopping in!  See you soon!

Stamp:  Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper:  Polka Dot Parade DSP, Whisper White; Ink:  Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker; Accessories:  Big Shot, Hexagon Embossing Folder, 2-1/2″ Circle Punch, Paper Snips, 1/8″ White Taffeta Ribbon, Neutrals Button, Dimensionals

Freshly Made Sketches #89

FMS Final 89-001I am so excited to show you this awesome sketch by Rita Wright!!  It is the latest from Freshly Made Sketches and it is just fantastic!!  I had the hardest time narrowing down my ideas because I could see so many ways to use this one!

FMS89 - Gingham BlossomsI opted for a really clean approach with lots of white space.  I think the little banners really pop against the white!  This sweet flower from Bright Blossoms fits perfectly with the Gingham Garden DSP, don’t you think?  All I had to do was use the colors from the paper!  I used a Rose Red button (from the retired style) but it goes well with the Melon Mambo in the paper.  I can see that I’m completely into my “seasonal stamper’s disorder” (colors and style of stamping totally dependent on the season).  I seem to use less layers and brighter colors as the weather warms up!  I started with all of these layers framed and the card felt too heavy.  I think I really like this version!

I know that you are going to have a great time with this sketch!  The DT has such fun examples so make sure you go check them out.

I hope your week is going well.  Last week’s busy schedule has turned into this week’s busy schedule and we are finishing up school activities.  I have a few teacher gifts that I am working on and look forward to sharing them soon.  Until then, have a great week!

FMS Final 88-001Today’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge is courtesy of the wonderful Jen Mitchell.  I just love the clean look of this one, don’t you??!!  It lends itself to so many interpretations!

FMS88 - Romance for YouI thought that a pretty stamped image was just perfect for the rectangular panel and I chose the lovely Bordering on Romance.  Yes, it is retiring so if you don’t already have it, don’t delay!  This is kind of an ode to retiring things since I also used Made for You and the Twitterpated DSP.  All of these are on the retiring list.  After stamping the image in Basic Gray, I watercolored it with Baja Breeze (another retiring item), Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz.  Ok, that is good news….Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz are rejoining us!!  I used the Large Scallop Edgelit for the side scallop and some retired Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding for the bow.  Some Basic Pearls make for perfect flower centers.

I just love this sketch and think it will be one I come back to over and over!  Thanks, Jen, for a great one!  I look forward to all the gallery will hold this week.  I see more inspiration and more pinning for me!

So glad you were able to drop in today.  As I said yesterday, this is a crazy week and I hope to fit in a little more stamping.  I hope your week is fabulous!  See you soon!

CTS#29 – Thank you friend

CTS#29 - Thank youJust a quick post for today!  We had a busy weekend here at the Timko house.  Went to a local strawberry festival (yum!) and hosted a laser tag birthday party for my oldest son.  Wow was it fun for the kids!!  The laser tag company brought everything to our house and we had 12 kids running amok in the yard for 2 hours.  There was an “adult only zone” on the deck where we could cheer them on and enjoy some adult beverages and company.  Perfect party all around!  Naturally I need thank you cards for the generous gifts of my son’s friends.  I started this morning with the idea of using some Epic Day Washi Tape and found a great sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch.  The fun sentiment and the watermark stamp are both from the Paper Pumpkin welcome kit.

cts29Ok…off to make lots more cards!  I hope that your week is off to a great start.  Mine promises to be really busy but in a great way.  My mom comes into town tomorrow for a week; the boys start swimming (along with the soccer that is still ongoing); I have club on Thursday night; and back on reserve Friday….whew!!  I’ll be back tomorrow with the latest Freshly Made Sketches challenge where Jen Mitchell has a great one for us!  Until then, thanks for stopping in.  See you tomorrow!
