Welcome to the last Artisan Wednesday Wow hop for the 2013 Artisan Design Team! Wow…that was hard to say.  If you just came over from the amazing Jeanna, welcome to the next stop. If you are starting here, just continue around using the next buttons until you get back to me.  Before I start on my project….I just have to say what a joy it has been to follow Jeanna in the hop all year.  She is such a talented designer and a lovely person.

Jul FB - Be You {tiful}

This card came about in that fun kind of creative way.  At first I was completely overwhelmed.  After all, how to create a project that reflects this year on the Artisan team?  First of all it had to be a card.  Because that is my true happy place.  Then I started playing around with the new Flower Patch stamp set…because you all probably know by now that I love a flower.  Gold…gold is the new silver, black, whatever….Bonnie Thurber told us so at Convention last year and I didn’t quite believe her.  I should have!  It is so awesome!  And then stenciling.  It is trendy and so fun to experiment with the ones from SU.  I stamped the flower in Versamark Ink and then embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  A quick run through the Big Shot with the Flower Fair Framelits to cut them out.  I stamped the speckles from Gorgeous Grunge and the sentiment onto Whisper White and embossed with the gold again.  Then I pulled out the chevron stencil from the Build a Banner Simply Created Kit.  I put it down on the card and added some Light Molding Paste on top of it (there are variations of these embossing pastes with different consistencies….this is pretty thick and dries pretty fast).  When I pulled the stencil up, I loved the effect.  I pulled off some of the gold thread from the Gold Metallic Baker’s Twine and wrapped it around my fingers.  When I was happy with the look, I secured the ends with a glue dot and placed it on the card.  Then I added the flowers/leaves with Dimensionals/Glue Dots.  I threaded a little left over metallic thread through the Vintage Faceted Button and attached it.  Some Gold Foil behind the image panel as a frame and done.

This sentiment actually means a lot to me as I made this card.  About a year and a half ago, I decided to take a leap of faith and enter the Artisan Design Team contest.  After working on the 10 projects for months, I felt like I had a pretty good representation of me as a stamper to show (you can see the posts by clicking here).  But my fear was that maybe my style was too clean.  What I discovered is that Stampin’ Up truly loves and values ALL stamping styles.  Just look at the variety on the team and you’ll see what I mean.  I can never fully say how much their choosing me to represent them for a year has meant!  They empowered me to be ME, creatively!  And you know what?  That applies to you too.  When you make things that reflect your style, it can be a little intimidating.  You know that voice….what if “they” don’t like it, what if “they” feel it is too clean/fussy/layered/simple/fill in your description here.  This year taught me to ignore that voice and continue to take those leaps of faith.  You can too!  Whatever you create, because it is made by you, really is Be You {tiful}!

AWW Jul - Make a Wish

So we are closing in on the end of my year as a member of the Artisan Design Team 2013.  Wow….what an experience this has been.  I have been a part of something really special.  Something that doesn’t always come around and something that you have to just take in and appreciate.  The bonds I have made with this year’s team are more than I could have ever imagined.  But more than that, I have been able to form friendships with more stampers and get to see behind the curtain a bit at Stampin’ Up!  You know what?  It has made me love and value this company even more.

So, this card.  The team agreed that we HAD to do a swap for Convention.  Yeah…no pressure!  How does one make a swap for 9 of the most talented stampers I know?  I tried all kinds of things but finally just came to this.  A clean card in one of my favorite colors.  The new Stars Framelits are such fun and lead to so many cool ideas.  I chose to make another shaker card (I think I’m on a kick with these).  I cut out star from the White Vellum Card Stock and put two together with the 2013-15 In Color Sequins inside.  Then I sewed them together.  After forming the little packets, I cut another star out of the Crumb Cake layer.  I stamped with Kinda Eclectic and distressed then Sponged with Soft Suede ink.  I created my sentiment with the Alphabet Rotary Stamp.  This thing is SERIOUSLY cool.  You need one.  Yes you do.  Just get it.  I clipped the ends of the sentiment panel with my Banner Punch and distressed again.  The main panel is up on Dimensionals and I attached the shaker packet using the new Fast Fuse Adhesive.  That stuff is strong and things won’t budge…and it is clear.  So no seeing through the doubled vellum of the star packet.  Finally I attached some more of the sequins using the Multipurpose Glue.  This takes a little patience but I love the result.  Maybe not a quick and easy card but these girls are so worth the time!  Back to the sentiment for a bit.  I chose this (did I mention how cool it is that you can say what you want with that stamp?) because of the obvious “wishing on a star”.  But also because a little over a year ago, I took a leap of faith and made a wish.  And it came true.  Bigger and better than even I could have expected!

Welcome to the second Artisan Wednesday Wow hop of our team’s last month! It is so hard to believe that this year is almost over. If you just came over from the amazing Jeanna, welcome to the next stop. If you are starting here, just continue around using the next buttons until you get back to me.

AWW Jul - Blooming Takeout Box

So what to make for you all this week to showcase some of the latest fun stuff from my July box?  Well, how about a tag made with the oh so adorable Flower Patch stamp set and a coordinating take out box made with the Flowerpot DSP?  Yep…I thought you might like that!  I found a mini takeout box template when working on my Display Stamper projects for Convention.  All I had to do was print it on my DSP and cut it out (yes, by hand…no e-cutter here).  But it is quick and creates such a fun box that the cutting really is ok.  Really!  I created a tag using Whisper White and the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch along with the Corner Punch.  Then all I had to do was attach flowers that had been stamped and cut out.  Yes….these were also by hand but there are convenient framelits to make it way easier if you want!  What better way to attach the tag but with this fabulous little clothespin from the 2014-2016 In Color Clothespins collection.  I’m completed addicted to them!!!!  Just wait until I can share more after Convention starts!!  One more look at this tag because it would be equally cute on any of Stampin’ Up’s boxes or bags!

AWW Jul - Blooming Tag

I wrapped up the box with a little bit of Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine and the packaging is complete. Super easy, super cute and sure to make someone’s day!

Well, the trek to the annual Stampin’ Up Convention in Salt Lake City has begun.  Sadly, I won’t be there this year since I’ll be flying.  But my Stampin’ Up friends will be having a ball and sending me updates so I’ll try to share any big news with you while I’m out on the road.  The good news…I’ll be able to start sharing all the projects I made as a display stamper!  Look for that to begin this weekend.

AWW Jul - Happy Shaker Card

I thought it would be fun to focus on the new Little Letters Thinlits today!  They are great for punching out letters for your projects, of course.  But they are also wonderful when use in the negative version.  Just line them up to create a word and roll through your Big Shot.  For this one, I rolled just one “P” through and then created the rest of the word with a second roll.  I wanted this to be a shaker card with a masculine flair so I kept to the Black/Vanilla colors except for the touch of gold from the sequins.  To create the shaker, I first backed the “HAPPY” piece with a Window Sheet. Then using the edges from my Dimensionals page, I created a rectangle just a bit bigger than the words and put in a bunch of sequins pulled off the Gold Sequin Trim.  I added the Basic Black backing and the shaker is done.  Easy!  I love the numbers print from Typeset DSP and it seemed to be made for a birthday card!  All I needed was a few extra sequins and I think I created a nice masculine card?  What to you think?

AWW Jul - Celebrate Stars

Well, it may seem like an obvious project but this card just called out to be made!  Using the new  Stars Framelits with the updated Silver Glimmer Paper is the perfect combination!  I cut out the two larger stars by first using the smaller framelit and then placing the larger one around the cut out and cutting again.  I left one silver and colored the other using my Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker.  Then, using my star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, I punched out the smallest star and colored it Night of Navy.  The Large Scallop Edgelit created the border piece.  I stamped the sentiment from Fabulous Four after inking just the “Celebrate” part with my marker.  Finally I added on some Basic Rhinestons that had been colored with Blendabilities.

This is the perfect card for Independence Day or any other patriotic event!  It could even be used for a summer party along with the pinwheels from the latest Paper Pumpkin kit!

Welcome to our last June Artisan Wednesday Wow hop!  This month has just flown by…much to fast for me!  We are showing all the details of our projects from the Stampin’ Up Facebook June Showcase.  If you just came over from the amazing Jeanna, welcome to the next stop. If you are starting here, just continue around using the next buttons until you get back to me.

Jun FB - Fabulous Gift Box As I approach the end of my tenure on the Artisan Design Team I can’t help but become a little sentimental.  I guess it seems natural that I should use this fun new High Five set to show how I feel about the team and Stampin’ Up as a whole.  Yes…You’re Fabulous!  Yes, you!!  From supporters of our weekly hops to our team’s home office supervisors to the amazing and talented team itself…you are all fabulous in my eyes!!!

To create this box, I use a Kraft Gift Box and stenciled on the circles in Soft Suede.  I actually used a stencil from the Build a Banner Simply Created Kit but you could easily use the new Dots & Stripes Decorative Mask too.  I attached a Tea Lace Doily to the top and wrapped around some 1-1/4″ Burlap Ribbon (hot glued underneath the lid to secure it).  Then I started playing with the tag.  Do you see how perfectly the tag and the box match??!!  That new Kraft paper is the perfect go-with on our boxes!  I stamped the dotted oval and cut it out with the Ovals Framelits.  The sentiment is stamped in Lost Lagoon.  For the feathers, I took the vertical stamp from High Five and stamped it in Soft Suede and Lost Lagoon onto Naturals Ivory Card Stock.  I just cut a feather shape from it and added a few snips on the edges to give them a feather feel.  I cut the same shape by hand out of the Champagne Glimmer Paper and added a few cut outs on the edges.  They are attached together using a gold Mini Metallic Clothespin.  Since I could not send one of these to all of you (*smile*), I chose instead to use it to hold a teacher gift.  I created a small note card for my son to sign and added in a gift card.  Perfect for all that she did this year!

Welcome to our third June Artisan Wednesday Wow hop! We are continuing with ideas with products from the new catalog for you this month and are so excited to share! If you just came over from the amazing Jeanna, welcome to the next stop. If you are starting here, just continue around using the next buttons until you get back to me.

AWW Jun - Floral Piercing

For today’s card I really wanted to show off this beautiful new color, Lost Lagoon.  If you have been with me for a while, you know that I loved, seriously loved, the retired color Baja Breeze.  To me, Lost Lagoon is an updated and richer version of that color.  So yeah, I like it a lot.  It is particularly pretty with yellows.  So that was where I started.  A saw a cool tutorial over at Splitcoaststampers for no-line piercing a while ago.  It was stored in my “to-do” list until I got this great Forever Florals stamp.  It is fantastic for the technique!  All you have to do is stamp the image on Watercolor Paper and, using a straight pin (the Piercing Tool makes bigger holes) you follow the lines.  It is best to have your Stampin’ Pierce Mat underneath to protect your surface.  You can follow all the lines or just pick some.  Once I was happy, I just flipped the image over and colored using my Aquapainter with Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey inks.

AWW Jun - Floral Closeup

Here is a close-up to help you see it better.

I stamped the sentiment from the same set after spritzing the inked words with a little water.  The embossed panel was created by first cutting out an oval with the Ovals Framelits, then embossing with the Decorative Dots TIEF.  I distressed a little around the edges with my Distressing Tool.  Now this bow is made possible by the GORGEOUS Stitched Satin Ribbon (this is Hello Honey).  It ties so wonderfully!!

AWW Jun - Watercolor Buds

In last week’s hop, I think we can safely say that Hey There Buds was a team favorite.  And for good reason!!  This week, my version of this awesome single stamp!  I decided to go bright with it….or Brights Color Family with it!  Using my Stampin’ Write Markers, I inked up the flower in Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive.  Then I gave it a quick spritz with water and stamped it on Watercolor paper.  To add a little more watercolor look to it, I dripped on a little more water using my Aquapainter.  The sentiment got the same spritzing treatment before I stamped it.  Notice that the sentiment is in a different place that on the single stamp?  Well, I actually cut it off of the flower and mounted it separately.  This gives more flexibility for using both the image and the words.  I mimicked the spots using Gorgeous Grunge on the side of the Melon Mambo base.  A little bit of Old Olive 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon to add a final accent!  I’m going to bet you’ll see some more with this stamp again this week…..might as well add it to your shopping list now!

AWW Jun - World of Dreams

One of the first sets that caught my eye in the new catalog was World of Dreams.  It is a beautiful silhouette set!  I used the circle stencil from the Build a Banner Simply Created Kit (back for the new catalog) and stamped with the Dictionary stamp on top of it.  Then I inked the flower with Mossy Meadow and Blackberry Bliss (new In Colors).  The sentiment is from Forever Florals and is also inked in Blackberry Bliss.  I stitched around the edges to add just a little more interest and done.  This care makes me so happy.  Isn’t it fun what inspiration you can find in new stamps??!!
