In the middle of all the Newton’s Nook release week, I have a card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. If you are looking for today’s release, it will be up right after this. Our sketch hostess today is the amazingly talented Rita Wright. I hope she forgives my stretch on her sketch this week.
So yes, there is supposed to be a vertical panel with the rectangle and the banners but here is the deal. As part of the Daily Marker 30 Day challenge, I had colored this hydrangea last week. And I really wanted to use it. And I was seriously pressed for time (only two days in between trips). And I just could not make this work if I added another panel. Sooooo, the hydrangea is taking the place of the panel. Some weeks go like that! I colored this pretty image using my Zigs and here was my inspiration.I had watched a coloring video where she talked about using images of real flowers when you are coloring them. I think we can agree that my version is still pretty simple compared to nature’s gorgeous work but it was fun to have a starting place for colors. And I really LOVE white hydrangeas with their shades of green and pink and sometimes pale blues. I added a frame cut with my Wonky Stitched Rectangles Dies and some retired lace from SU behind the flower. The sentiment is from another Ellen Hutson set called Lovely.
Make sure to come back for my card for today’s reveal from Newton’s Nook and make sure you take the opportunity for chances to win the set from this month’s release. I hope you have a great rest of your week!!

Beautiful flower…..love the hint of pink here and there! And the frame tucked behind it looks great!
Your softly-colored hydrangea is just gorgeous and I just love how you’ve used the sketch. Gorgeous, gorgeous card, my friend.
This is such a pretty card, Jen! Your softly colored hydrangea is so delicate and I love the ribbon and lace to represent the banners.
Oh how lovely and soft – I am loving that flower and the subtle way you’ve coloured it!
