Today I’m sharing a fun bonus card using the Woodland Duos Stamp Set by Newton’s Nook Designs. When this set released in January, I have to admit that I first focused on the darling critters. As I looked at the set more, though, I realized that these little heart images were ones that I needed to use as soon as possible!
I stamped the hearts using three colors (Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo from SU). I used my Misti to make sure they were inked really well so you can see the fabulous detail of each heart. Then using the little heart die from the coordinating Darling Hearts Dies I cut them out. The hardest part of the card is lining up the hearts. But I believe in smarter not harder! You want to see how I did it to make it simple? Yep, I thought so!I started by using my grid mat to line them up and get the spacing right. Then, I laid some Press and Seal Wrap onto the hearts so I could move them and keep their positioning. Finally, I added foam tape to the backs of the hearts and attached them to my white card stock. Just carefully pull off the Press and Seal and the alignment is perfect. And you look like a genius! I added some retired SU washi tape along the sides of my card base. I thought the pattern was a nice match to the patterns in the hearts. The sentiment comes from another January release set, Love & Chocolate. I added a little baker’s twine to the top to finish the card.
While this could certainly be a Valentine, I actually created this card as a birthday card for my youngest son who just turned 11. He is such a great kid and he makes all of our lives a bit sweeter. This is the absolute perfect sentiment for him! Hope you have enjoyed my card and my tips. Can’t wait to hear what you think!

Jenn, I love this card! Your designs always inspire me to get into my craft room, thanks for sharing!!
Such a sweet card! Love the colors you’ve used for your son. Great way to get the hearts nicely lined out on the card, thanks!
And also a little late happy birthday for your son!
I love this card and appreciate the ‘tutorial’ on placement!…I need to get some Press and Seal! 😀 I love that it is a card for your son…our son is 26 now and still one of our very favorite people. They do grow up so fast and each moment is a treasure! I just found your blog. You have stirred other memories…I grew up between Warrenton and Catlett on what was then “Route 2”. Is it still called the “Hunt Capital of the World”? 🙂 I am 64 and in my mind’s eye, I still see a very quaint Warrenton!…it’s movie theater…the What Not Shop…and Ben Franklin! 😀
This is adorable….and then some!
Gorgeous card and I’m sure your son will love it! The colors are perfect – modern and masculine!
