Truly Grateful

Truly Grateful by Jen Timko | Shades of Autumn Stamp and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Lovely Blooms Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Tim Holtz Distress Oxide InkToday is my day to share a project on the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog.  Even though it is the beginning of March, we are starting to see signs of spring here in Virginia.  My daffodils seem almost ready to bloom, if you can believe it.  I went a little non-standard and actually started with a set introduced in the fall…Shades of Autumn.  But I gave it a spring twist courtesy of the color palette and some flower dies from Lovely Blooms.

I pulled out my Distress Oxide inks in Worn Lipstick and Peeled Paint and created some backgrounds that I could cut with my dies.  The green I cut with the Shades of Autumn Dies and Lovely Blooms Dies (the leaves).  Then I cut out some blossoms with the Lovely Blooms flowers.  I love the variations from the Oxide inks and how they make these dies take on such depth.  On some more watercolor paper, I created a background with Broken China Oxide ink and then stamped the sentiment from Shades of Autumn in the middle.  I found some pink card stock to coordinate with the flowers and that completes the spring feel, don’t you think?  We may yet have a touch of winter coming but at least I can celebrate flowers and greenery in my stamp room!

I hope you like this fun way to use dies!  Make sure to stop by the Newton’s Nook Designs blog for daily inspiration.  Thanks so much for stopping in and I’ll see you soon!

Simply Lovely

For my Mother by Jen Timko | Lovely Blooms Stamp and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Simply Relative Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, BrushoToday is my day to share a project on the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog.  With all the cold we have been having, something about flowers is calling my name.  So Lovely Blooms was a fun choice that I hadn’t used in a while.

I recently got some Brusho Crystal Colours and this was a great time to give them a go.  I played with all the colors in my 5 color pack (available from Stampin’ Up).  On Arches Cold Press Watercolor Paper, I stamped the jar with Versafine Onyx Black Ink.  I filled the jar with water using my paint brush and then sprinkled on the Prussian Blue Brusho.  It is super cool to watch the color spread and move.  I did the same with the flower and the leaves.  The flower uses Gamboge, Brilliant Red and Yellow and the leaves use Moss Green and Yellow.  Just put on the water and sprinkle…it is that easy.  I had my 11 yo help on the leaves because he thought it was so interesting.  Once everything was dry, I cut the flowers and the leaves with the coordinating dies.  For the background wash, I sprinkled a little bit of powder into a palette and added water to create the paler version of the colors.  I love that you can use this in multiple ways too.  I pulled a sentiment from Simply Relative…such a must have set!  You can’t see it from this picture but I actually attached the watercolor panel to a pale yellow card base for a sweet surprise when you open the card.

I hope you enjoy this floral burst of color today!  Make sure to stop by the Newton’s Nook Designs blog for daily inspiration.  Thanks so much for stopping in and I’ll see you soon!

Lovely Yellow Blooms

Lovely Yellow Blooms by Jen Timko | Lovely Blooms Stamp and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Chameleon Pens, Color Theory DSP by Stampin' UpToday is my day to share a project on the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog and I just had to continue with making pretty summer cards with this Lovely Blooms stamp set.  This flower set really is awesome for coloring!

Is there such thing as a yellow hydrangea??  I’m not sure but I created one in any case.  Using my Chameleon pens, I colored the flowers and the leaves to coordinate with this new Color Theory DSP from Stampin’ Up.  I LOVE this paper!  It is the perfect background for almost any image but it really shows off this flower.  The sentiment is a go-to for me lately and it comes from the Happy Little Thoughts stamp set (NND).  I colored some Basic Pearls with the Olive Chameleon pen and added those fora little more detail.  The whole image panel is on a Crushed Curry card base.

For those of you in the US, I hope you have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!!  So glad you stopped in today.  See you tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches!

Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Lovely Blooms

Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Lovely Blooms published on 28 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Lovely Blooms

Welcome back for another day of release week for the April release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  Day 2 has a beautiful flower set called Lovely Blooms.

Blooms for Mom by Jen Timko | Lovely Blooms Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Mason Jar, #newtonsnookI hardly knew where to start with this set.  If you follow me, you know I love myself a flower.  And this set is full of pretty images to mix and match.  I finally settled on creating a watercolor styled card but kept it simple.  I sponged Distress Ink onto watercolor paper creating some ombré effects and then stamped over the sponging with the images.  The coordinating Lovely Blooms Dies made short work of cutting things out so that I could create this pretty little arrangement.  The script sentiments are really great so I chose to create this one for mom.  Um….sorry mom, should have given a spoiler alert.  I added a few sequins for a finishing touch and I just love the effect you get on this with no actual coloring required.

Of course, if you love to color, this set is totally for you too!  I’ll show you what I mean tomorrow!  Until then, you have a chance to win this set with just some simple commenting.

Would you like to win the “Lovely Blooms” Stamp Set?
