Freshly Made Sketches #80

Freshly Made Sketches #80 published on 8 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #80

FMS Final 80-001Happy Wednesday everyone!  It is Freshly Made Sketches day…yippee!!  Our sketch today is courtesy of the fabulous Linda Callahan of Stampin’ Seasons.  I love her cards so it is no surprise that I love her sketch this week.  She kept it simple and it leaves lots of room for you to use your imagination!!

FMS80 - Tea flowerI had this flower sitting on my table from another project and thought it would be perfect for Linda’s sketch.  It was tea stained (yep, with actual tea) before I decided to use it for this so it isn’t quite as “clean” as I would like for an FMS card.  The center of the flower is an Antique Brad. I love those!  The bow is made with Very Vanilla Seam Binding and it is wrapped around a DSP layer from Storytime DSP.  I couldn’t figure out a place for a sentiment so I decided to go without for now.

I’m absolutely in love with the cards the team has made this week.  So many great interpretations of the sketch!  I know this will be a busy week in the gallery and I can’t wait to see all that you create!

It is spring break for my boys so we are out and about.  I hope to have another card to show you on Friday from a class I am holding tomorrow.  Other than that, I am simply ignoring the too cold weather and starting to put in some of my lettuce, broccoli and spinach.  I think they are hardy enough to handle the chill and I’m tired of waiting, lol!!

I hope that your week is great.  Thanks so much for stopping in today.  See you soon!

FMS Final 79-001

I hope that your week is going well so far!  I mentioned yesterday that I have a bit of spring fever with no spring weather to match.  At least Monday’s snow has mostly melted and the forecast here in VA seems to be getting better.  I keep encouraging it along in my craft room!  Today’s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches is from the amazing Rita Wright.  Rita is one of the most wonderful stampers and I love seeing her pictures of little Laila on every post.  Make sure you drop by to see her blog!

FMS79 - Bright HelloI thought I’d use some bright sunny yellow (Daffodil Delight) to counteract the snow!  I loved the little flowers in Bright Blossoms as soon as I saw them and they are perfectly matched with the Summer Smooches DSP.  I stamped the flower and the stamped the blossoms again so that I could pop them up.  I love how a simple little stamp can give such a wow to a card, especially when framed with the Oval Framelits!  The little bow on Rita’s sketch was just the excuse I needed to add in a bow made with the Daffodil Delight Seam Binding.  I love how  it ties!!  A little “hello” from Teeny Tiny Wishes  is punched out with the Jewelry Tag Punch.

Ok, spring….I’m doing my part….now let me plant my garden and get my real flowers going!!

I love the variety of cards from the design team this week.  Make sure you go take a look to see the inspiration!  I probably won’t be back until after Easter.  My boys start their Easter break on Thursday so my stamping will be limited.  With any luck though, I’ll get my garden started with their help!  I hope you have a great rest of your week and a blessed Easter or Passover.

Stamps:  Bright Blossoms, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper:  Summer Smooches DSP, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White; Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, Rich Razzleberry; Accessories:  Big Shot, Adorning Accents Edgelit, Daffodil Delight Seam Binding, Neutrals Button, Ovals Framelits

SUOC67- Spring (?)

SUOC67- Spring (?) published on 7 Comments on SUOC67- Spring (?)

Well, I’d love to tell you that spring is in the air but frankly, all I see right now is snow…again.  I am ready to plant my garden and enjoy spring things but not yet.  At least not outside.  The good news is that SUO Challenges is celebrating spring so I’m sure that will make me much happier!!

SUOC67 - Spring FlowersI thought it would be fun to use some spring flowers for my card and what better than this awesome stamp from the Best of Flowers set?  I may be one of the only people who didn’t own this stamp when it originally came out so I was really excited to see it in the “Best of ” series.  I particularly love the size of it!  I inked it up with Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral and Lucky Limeade, then I spritzed it with water to help the colors run together a bit.  I spritzed the sentiment too to make it match.  I love this technique and haven’t used it in a while. I think it works well for stamps like this one and I’m happy with the watercolor look!  I pulled out some old more recent Sale-a-bration offerings with the ribbon and the button.  These products are the gift that keep on giving and I love that they go so well with the print from Tea for Two DSP.

Fab Fri Logos-012The colors for today’s card come from the Fab Friday Challenge.  Aren’t they pretty??!!  The card is a CASE (copy and share everything) of myself and it is based on this card.  Why did I CASE myself??  Because I was chosen as the Featured Stamper over at Splitcoaststampers this week and I thought it would be fun to play along with the challenge.

I certainly hope that you have a little bit of spring where you are but if not, just create a little in your craft area!!  The design team has some amazing examples and I know you will be inspired to join in!

Back tomorrow with the latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches!  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon!

Stamp:  Best of Flowers (March), Petite Pairs; Paper:  Tea for Two DSP, Sahara Sand, Lucky Limeade, Very Vanilla; Ink:  Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade; Accessories:  SAB 2012 Ribbon, SAB 2013 Button, Dimensionals

FMS Final 78-001

I am so happy to share this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches with you!  The fabulous Jen Mitchell from I Create designed this sketch and it has so many interpretations.  You can see from the design team’s work that there are lots of ways to look at this one.  I love a sketch like that!

FMS78 - FriendsI thought it would be fun to use the Storytime DSP for this.  I love the little images on this paper and I chose this one to cut out.  The two little friends with bubbles are too cute!!  The sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes seems to fit perfectly and I was so happy with the two together.  There is something about the combination of Basic Gray and Crumb Cake that is appealing to me these days so I added a border and a Large Scallop using the Crumb Cake.  Of course, some touches of Pool Party were needed and I was able to pull out my Sale-a-bration freebies to help.  This ribbon is so pretty and worked well on the borders.  The button was my final touch (tied up with some Linen Thread).  I think this will make a fun card for a friend of my boys for a birthday.  I may have to make some more using different images just to have on hand!

Thanks for dropping in today.  I know I’m not posting much but I have been busily working on some projects.  I won’t be able to show them for a while but I hope the work will pay off.  More about that another day!  Don’t forget that Sale-a-bration is almost over!  If you haven’t taken advantage, please don’t wait any longer!

I hope that you have a fantastic week.  Make sure you go take a look at the design team’s cards and at the gallery as the week goes on.  The work you all share with us from week to week is incredible!!

FMS Final 77-001

Happy middle of the week to you!  I am happy to be back with the latest challenge from Freshly Made Sketches.  I am the sketch hostess this week and I hope you like this one.  I designed it with a couple of things in mind.  I thought the sketch would lend itself to using pretty designer papers for the background panels and the smaller rectangle left a perfect place for stamping.  I know that you will find lots of ways to interpret it and I can’t wait to see the gallery!

FMS77 - Flower thanksThe Tea for Two DSP was sitting on my table and calling my name so who was I to say no??!!  I love the pretty prints in the pack!!  What better than to pair it with Oh, Hello!  I really do love this little flower and I inked up only part of the sentiment to fit across the bottom of the panel.  I had this new Natural 7/16″ Trim Ribbon that had not been used yet (the horror!) and I thought it would be a nice compliment to the Natural Ivory paper in the background.  It is a pretty ribbon to use and I think I have some more ideas for it.  I tied it up with some Linen Thread and a Night of Navy button.  The background card stock is Midnight Muse but the button seems to work.

I hope you enjoy working with the sketch this week.  The design team has created some spectacular creations and I’m completely in awe of them!  Make sure you go check them out and then show us your creation!

Thanks so much for stopping in today.  For those who haven’t been here since last week, I did a bit of a redesign of my blog (more info in last Sunday’s post).  Let me know what you think!  See you again soon…have a great rest of your week!

Stamp:  Oh, Hello; Paper:  Tea for Two DSP, Midnight Muse, Naturals Ivory; Ink:  Midnight Muse, Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Gumball Green; Accessories:  Naturals 7/16″ Trim Ribbon, Regals Buttons, Linen Thread, Dimensionals, Stamp-a-ma-jig

SUOC66 – Easter Basket

SUOC66 – Easter Basket published on 6 Comments on SUOC66 – Easter Basket

We have a wonderful theme this week over at SUO Challenges!  We are celebrating Easter.  Be it religious or fun little bunnies and baskets, we want to see it!

SUOC66 - Easter BasketI thought it would be fun to create an Easter basket complete with little eggs.  I started with the Floral District DSP (yes, I know…I really do love it).  The bright colors are just like the colors I love on our family eggs.  I started by punching out the Rose Red design with the Petite Purse Die and cut off the front panel to create the basket.  I then found the oval in the Oval Framelits that was just a tad smaller than the width of the basket.  I cut that oval and then cut it again with the next smaller oval to form the handle.  The eggs are made with the Large Oval Punch.  I put part of a little doily at the basket edge and attached a little bow made from Baja Breeze Seam Binding.  After playing around with the sketch for a while, I accidentally knocked the Daffodil Delight panel askew…and I liked it so it stayed that way permanently.  I have to admit that this little basket makes me really happy!!  I hope you like it too!

I am looking forward to the Easter entries in the gallery!  Thanks for dropping in to visit today.  I’ll be back tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches (it is my sketch this week)!  Hope your day is great!

Stamp:  Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper:  Floral District DSP, Baja Breeze, Whisper White; Ink:  Baja Breeze; Accessories:  Big Shot, Petite Purse Die, Ovals Framelits, Large Oval Punch, Tea Lace Paper Doilies, Neutrals Buttons, Baja Breeze Seam Binding

CAS#18 – Happy Birthday

CTS#18 - Meghan's birthdayBefore I start on details for the card, I want to talk a little about the new look for my blog.  For those of you who subscribe by email you may need to hop on over to the blog to see it.  When the Sent with Love Digital Kit came out, I had to get it of course.  My mom told me a while ago that while she liked the look of my blog that she did NOT like that the airplane was heading the wrong direction (down).  *smile*  With this new kit I am able to fix this.  YEA!!  So I would love to hear what you think about the header, signature block and shopping button.

Now on to the card.  We went a party this weekend for one of my older son’s friends from school.  So out came the Floral District DSP.  What is it about this paper that is so perfect for these cards for girls??  I think it is the bright happy colors and the prints that aren’t too frilly.  I found a great sketch over at CAS(E) This Sketch  and it worked perfectly with this big sentiment from You’re Amazing.  I added a little Pool Party scallop and the button is from the Artisan Embellishments Kit.  I thought a few random pearls around the sentiment and one on the button were a nice final touch.

cts18Well, let me know your thoughts about the new look!  Hope you like it!  I will be back on Tuesday with a new card for SUO Challenges.  I can’t wait to show it to you!!  I appreciate you dropping in today.  Hope your weekend has been great!

Sympathy Hydrangea

Sympathy Hydrangea published on 3 Comments on Sympathy Hydrangea

Sympathy HydrangeaI mentioned before that I was subbing at my boys’ school.  Well for the last couple of weeks I have been subbing as the math and science teacher in the middle school section of the school.  I have to admit that I was a bit nervous at first since middle schoolers are not known to go easy on subs in general.  But I can say with all honesty that this group of kids was amazing.  Oh, they tried a few antics (they are kids, after all) but they showed respect and were tolerant of the fact that I tend to skip steps on my math examples.  I needed to sub due to a family matter with the teacher.  This teacher is truly beloved by her kids and I’m sure that is why they cut me a break.  They certainly don’t want to let her down!  We needed a sympathy card for her homeroom kids to sign for her and I thought it appropriate that I make one for them.  I went to my old standby Because I Care (retired hostess).  I love this flower so much!!  I also had some leftover retired DSP that seemed perfect as a background.  I wanted this to be pretty and still convey the right tone.  I inked the flower in Marina Mist and Crumb Cake and added on a shabby bow.  I am really happy with the end result.  More importantly, the kids liked it and thought she would too.

It is always hard to have to make a card like this but I am so glad that I was able to give an extra personal touch from her class.  I can’t say how much I appreciate the opportunity to work with the “big kids” and how amazed I am that so many teachers do this every day with such grace and humor.  Frankly…it wore me out!!  *smile*  I am back to my normal mom status in the school again this week and you can bet I’ll be saying thank you to the teachers even more!

I have another card for you tomorrow.  Yes, we did get some snow days.  I got a little stamping done, did some sledding with the boys, built a snowman and we kept our power!!  All in all, pretty fantastic!  I will see you tomorrow.  Until then, thanks so much for stopping in!
