SugarPea Designs Spring Release Sneak Peek – Day 1

SugarPea Designs Spring Release Sneak Peek – Day 1 published on 26 Comments on SugarPea Designs Spring Release Sneak Peek – Day 1

I am so happy to be here all week for the SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Week!! This spring release is full of fun products that are perfect for every stamper. And we have team hop, of course, to share inspiration. The release goes live on Friday, April 30th at 2p Eastern.

Today we are sharing three new products: Color of Life Stamp Set, Paint Palette SugarCut Dies, and Splash of Color Stamp Set. (**NOTE: Links will not be live until the release is available on Friday, April 30th**)

I knew immediately that the Splash of Color Stamp set was going to be the first thing I used and the card came out exactly as it was in my head! Now, I’ll admit that doesn’t usually happen and it is so great when it does. I love the bright splatters in a rainbow of colors! I just chose a pretty variety and then played with the placement of the splatter images.

I chose this beautiful sentiment from the Color of Life Stamp and I thought it went perfectly with this design. I stamped in Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. It is hard to capture in the photo but that extra bit of shine helps it pop even more. I added a few shiny black sequins to match and there you have it…a one layer card!

Freshly Made Sketches #478

Freshly Made Sketches #478 published on 10 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #478

Super quick post for today to share the latest from Freshly Made Sketches and SugarPea Designs. I am the sketch designer for FMS this week and I, um, conveniently “aligned” the sketch with the one for SPD. Yeah, I know…but I opted for smarter not harder.

I kept this super clean and just focused on the soft colors from the SugarPea Mix It Up inspiration. I cut the flowers and leaves with the Open Book dies and then colored them with watercolors. I chose a soft gray base to keep with the palette.

I chose some pretty papers from a Honey Bee Stamps Paper Pack for the pink and yellow and then added a few pink pearls from my stash.

I’ll be back on Friday for a project for Honey Bee Stamps. Until then, back out later today to finish my sign off on my upgrade. Thanks for stopping in today! See you soon.

Cottontail Cuties for SugarPea Designs

Cottontail Cuties for SugarPea Designs published on 1 Comment on Cottontail Cuties for SugarPea Designs

I hope your week is going well so far! I am bringing you a bit of March inspiration for the SugarPea Designs blog today.

All the sweet clover from Cottontail Cuties was perfect for a fun March card, don’t you think?! I stamped all the images in Momento black ink and then colored with Copic markers. I love all the choices for creating a scene and had fun putting these together. I mean, honestly, who can resist a bunny with a four leaf clover?

I debated using a grass stencil but instead opted to create a Distress Oxide background. These are fun to do and an easy option to add color and texture. I love how the images pop against it. The sentiment comes from the same stamp set and could easily be replaced with the Good Luck in the set. I cut it out with the SugarCut – Sentiment Strips after stamping it on a scrap of the inked card stock.

Thanks so much for stopping in today. As I mentioned last week, this is pretty much the last of my posts for a bit. I will be back in just over a week for another share. Until then, stay safe and know how grateful I am for you all.

Freshly Made Sketches #474

Freshly Made Sketches #474 published on 8 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #474

Hi everyone! A quick update before I get to my card for today. Starting tomorrow, I will be going to training at United Airlines for about 3 weeks. I’ll have a picture at the bottom of the post (gasp…yeah, I know, I never share pictures of me here). The short answer is that I’ll be going to the Captain seat of the Airbus 319/320. So I’ve been working ahead on DT cards and other projects. Even with that, I’ll be pulled back here and will probably miss a couple of FMS weeks. Hope the team doesn’t fire me! *smile* That said, I will have cards coming late tomorrow for Gina K Designs and also on Friday for Honey Bee Stamps so stay tuned.

Now for our scheduled programming! The sketch this week for Freshly Made Sketches from the wonderful Judy Rozema lends itself to lots of interpretations. I pulled out some favorite things from SugarPea Designs.

I started with Meadow Motifs, because it is a great place to start. I stamped this sweet flower and did a quick watercolor with Daniel Smith paints. I cut it out with the coordinating dies. Using one of the stitched squares from the Card Front Element Builder III dies seemed like a good choice for the sketch and then I decided to pull out some ribbon.

I haven’t played with a shabby bow in quite a while and I thought it was a nice fit the flower and colors. I do love them! I added a few confetti elements and then put the entire layer on an Eggplant base (Concord and 9th).

Now back to the beginning. In January, I went to a Captain leadership training class in Denver. It was a top-notch event which culminated with us getting our Captain wings from the Executive Chairman, Oscar Munoz.

Thanks for stopping in today. The Gina K Designs release goes live at 7p Central Time tomorrow so I’ll share at that time and then again a card for Friday. Until then, I hope you have a wonderful day.

Hello for SPD Mix 76 and FMS

Hello for SPD Mix 76 and FMS published on 6 Comments on Hello for SPD Mix 76 and FMS

I have another “combo” card for you today using the new February SugarPea Designs Mix It Up Challenge and this weeks Freshly Made Sketches Challenge. I used the inspiration and colors from SPD Mix along with the fab sketch by our awesome Narelle Farrugia.

It didn’t take me but a glance at the inspiration to know that I needed to pull out the Beautiful Books Stamp Set and Dies. After stamping and cutting, I started playing with the layout a bit. I realized that I needed a die cut sentiment so the Card Front Element Builder III dies have this great “hello” that seemed just right.

Then it hit me that the strips from the same die set would be perfect for the sketch. Not that I can’t cut a rectangle but something about the perfection of a die cut makes it simpler. All I had left to do was attach everything to a kraft base. I love it when it works out that way!

Thanks so much for stopping in today. I hope you have fun playing along with these challenges too. Remember the SPD Mix has a chance to win! Back on Friday. Until then, have a great week.

Blooming Thanks for SugarPea Designs

Blooming Thanks for SugarPea Designs published on 1 Comment on Blooming Thanks for SugarPea Designs

I’m sharing a card today that I created for the SugarPea Designs company blog today. I am still loving the Winter Release products and am having so much fun using them!

I started with the gorgeous Friendship Blooms Stamp Set. I stamped onto watercolor paper with Versamark Ink and then heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I colored the flowers and leaves with my Daniel Smith watercolor paints then cut them out with the coordinating SugarCut – Friendship Blooms Dies.

Next using the SugarCut – Block Alphabet Dies I chose to cut the word “THANKS” from gold card stock. As I played with the layout, I realized this was the perfect opportunity to make a slimline card. I cut a layering panel from Bristol Smooth paper and inked it with a Catherine Pooler Suede Shoes Ink. I splattered with some water and a bit of gold (Gold Lamé Smooch Ink) to match the letters and embossing. Once dry, I attached the flowers and then the letters. I used a straight edge to line up the letters which makes it tons easier. I love the versatility of the alphabet to expand sentiment choices or just make a bold statement. I hope you like this project! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Sending You Love with Freshly Made Sketches and SugarPea Designs

Sending You Love with Freshly Made Sketches and SugarPea Designs published on 6 Comments on Sending You Love with Freshly Made Sketches and SugarPea Designs

Happy Wednesday! I am excited to be back today to share a card made for two challenges. I combined this week’s Freshly Made Sketches sketch with the inspiration from the SugarPea Designs Mix It Up Challenge #75. I love the sketch designed by the lovely Jen Brum and it opened up some fun opportunities to play with new products.

I started it all by inking up Bristol card stock with Picked Raspberry and Candied Apple Distress Ink. I used my new Block Alphabet SugarCut Dies to cut the word LOVE. I added a few hearts from different SugarCut sets (Piece of Cake and Vintage Telephone) on the same run through.

I created a perfect framing layer using two new SugarCut basics. The Stitched Rectangles and Stitched Scalloped Rectangles work together perfectly. I added to the sentiment using a sentiment from Flurry of Warm Wishes and then cut it with the Sentiment Strips SugarCut dies. To add a bit more texture, I used the new Cute Heart Stencil for embossing the base.

Thanks so much for stopping in today! I hope you will play along with both of these challenges this week. A reminder that the Mix It Up challenge has a chance to win. See you again Friday!

SugarPea Designs Winter Release Day 4

Today is the last day of sneak peeks for the Winter Release from SugarPea Designs. The release goes live today (Friday) at 2p Eastern and I cannot wait. Make sure you take your chance at the GIVEAWAY at the bottom of the post.

So, let’s be real, if my calico kitty was in charge of the world, this would be every day. I love this Let’s Stay In Bed stamp set and the opportunity to scene build again. There are dies to match but I did a bit of masking for this.

It was fun to create the room and a place for the kitty to nap. And my calico was my muse (in fairness to my gray tuxedo she simply matched better). I did a bit of watercoloring and then cut the scene with the new Stitched Rectangles SugarCut Dies.

SugarPea Designs Winter Release Day 3

SugarPea Designs Winter Release Day 3 published on 33 Comments on SugarPea Designs Winter Release Day 3

Today is a busy day on the blog! First up, I get to share Day 3 of the SugarPea Designs Winter Release sneak peek! Given that it is Wednesday, I have combined it with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge with a fabulous sketch by the lovely Kim Singdahlsen. The SugarPea Designs release goes live on Friday, January 22nd at 2p and make sure you check out the GIVEAWAY at the bottom of this post.

One of today’s products is a beautiful stamp set called Friendship Blooms (with a coordinating SugarCut die set). The flowers in this set are spectacular. You will see them from me. A lot!! For today, though, I wanted to focus on the simplicity of one gorgeous image. I know that when we craft, we have a tendency to think more is more. Anyone who has been with me for a bit knows that I’m a bit of a minimalist. I do envy those who can put together layers of gorgeousness but for me, this is how I roll. And this stamp set allows me to do just that without feeling like I have missed something.

When I created this card, I needed a number of sympathy cards. The last year has taken such a toll on so many families and our friends are not exempt. I felt like this beautiful clean sketch combined with one pretty flower was perfect for what I needed. In truth, I colored a number of the flowers and created a few versions. But some of the cards needed to go out quickly so I only have this one photographed. The sentiment comes from a favorite of mine, Everyday Sentiments, but the sentiments from the set would be lovely on the same card. The rest of the products for today are equally awesome and I’ll be showing them to you in the upcoming weeks (and I’m sure the hop will inspire you too).

SugarPea Designs Winter Release Day 2

SugarPea Designs Winter Release Day 2 published on 32 Comments on SugarPea Designs Winter Release Day 2

Welcome back for day 2 of the SugarPea Designs Winter Release sneak peeks. All the products shared this week will be available on Friday, January 22nd at 2p Eastern. And make sure you check out the GIVEAWAY at the bottom of the post.

Today’s project is a combination of all of the daily peek products! I cannot even get over how clever and creative this phone is. Every element of the Vintage Phone SugarCut is so well considered and super easy to use! To create it, I brushed on Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Ink onto white card stock and them just started cutting. The phone, the letters from the Hello Word SugarCut were all in one run through! I did the same with some of the gray pieces which is just Hickory Smoke Distress Ink. The little numbers in the phone are from the Call Me Stamp Set and work with both the its set and the Vintage Phone dies. So smart! I added the new Chevron Cover Plate in the background for some neutral texture. I cannot wait to hear what you think about this one!
