As I told you last week, I wasn’t sure I would get this card done. Thank heavens for a great sketch from our queen of color and resident Artisan, Amy O’Neill over at Freshly Made Sketches. I channeled my inner Amy for this one and went with some bright and happy colors.
The It’s My Party DSP provided the fun striped and the black design…aren’t they fun together? For the circle element, I added half of a Tea Lace Doily (they are retiring so get them now!!). For the sentiment panel I pulled out the bonus stamp set from this month’s Paper Pumpkin and found this awesome birthday greeting. I LOVE that stamp set!! I added some Bermuda Bay Baker’s Twine and some sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to add a little more color.
Well, super fast card and a super fast post. On the road again….. But home at the end of the week for a few more days so hoping to catch up on more stamping. I hope your week is fabulous. Thanks for stopping in!!

I really wanted to use this title on the post: “In which I say happy anniversary to Altenew, show what I have learned about Chameleon pens, and profess undying thanks to Lydia” (format courtesy of Lydia) I think we can agree that would have been a bit cumbersome. But it is really what this post is about!
First of all, I wanted to share this card that is inspired by the 2nd Anniversary of Altenew. This company is so fabulous and the inspiration they have provided through beautiful designs and an amazing design team are a stand out in the industry! This set, Botanical Blooms, is pretty new and I’m completely enamored with it. Such pretty, pretty images! I wanted to make a clean card (yeah….I know, I always do) that showed off the lovely details in these stamps. I stamped them with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and added a sentiment from Watercolor Wishes (SU) stamped in Versafine Black Ink.
Then I get to part two of my post….Chameleon Pens. These are a unique way to color using alcohol pens that have all the shading care of one pen. The dear Ilina Crouse sent me the Pastel Tones set and that is all I have used for coloring here. In fact, I only used three of them (Y03-Warm Sunset, CG8-Cool Gray, and PK3-Bubble Gum). I am getting better at shading and timing the infusions and they are really fun to use. This is what I was working on the other day when a friend came over to visit….she colored some pretty flowers too! I added a few sequins that matched (two from Pretty Pink Posh and one from SU) and added a border of a pretty watercolor DSP (retired SU).
Finally, and this is big. I need to profess my thanks to the one-of-a-kind Lydia. I have struggled pretty much forever in getting a decent picture of a primarily white card. As in, I take 25 pictures all over my house, edit the pictures, hate the pictures, take 25 more pictures….. Well, you get the point. So when Lydia posted about a new light box she got and how it changed her world, well, I had to run right out to get one. I caution you that following Lydia inspires that result. Being her friend can be expensive because she is always right. When she says you have to have it, you do. Just accept it and move forward. I had planned to post this card yesterday but then I found out my Foldio 2 was coming and I wanted to wait to give it a good test. Let me tell you what happened. I set it up, took one (yes, ONE) picture with my phone (YES, MY PHONE!!!!!!) and this is the one I took. I cropped it, lightened it just a little and done. Threw on the watermark and I’m pretty sure I squealed loud enough for the neighbors to be concerned. Now I can spend more time making things. I’m so happy!!
So that is it for today. Pretty much one big thank you post to Altenew, Ilina and Lydia. Wow, I’m lucky to be a stamper! Hope your weekend is fabulous! See you soon!
I am so happy to be back today with this awesome new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. Our resident Artisan, Amy O’Neill, has created a super one for us this week. You will see the team has some cool interpretations and I think you will have fun with this one.
I continued on my efforts to color as much as possible for The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge. I was very inspired by the incredible Dawn Woleslagle of WPlus9 and wanted to try her technique for creating a watercolor look using stamps. She is a true artist but I simplified her method a bit to make these little flowers. I have a video to show you the details.
I hope you have a great time playing along with us this week! Let me know what you think about the technique and tutorial, too. I’m working this week but brought along some coloring to do. With any luck, you’ll see the results in a card soon (or maybe on Instagram even sooner). Until then…have a great day! Thanks for stopping in!

I am continuing my coloring practice for The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge with this card today. I love this retired image it is perfect for working on shading. I also saw the Time Out Challenge #49 with their inspiration challenge: “Love is the flower you’ve got to let grow”. Again….this image is simply perfect. So I got to work. I stamped with Smoky Slate (SU) ink and colored with my Copics. Once I was done, I cut it out with a Stitched Rectangles Die. When I put it on the white panel, it seemed a little blah so I added some stenciled sponging. The stencil is from the Happy Patterns masks group. I used my Ranger Mini Round Blending Tool (I love it because it doesn’t create edges). Once I had the background on, I liked it much better. I popped the image up on Dimensionals and added some Sparkling Clear Sequins (PPP).
I’ll be back tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches. I even made another video for it! Thanks for stopping in today. Hope your day is great!

Happy first Wednesday of the new year and welcome back to another year of challenges from Freshly Made Sketches!! I have to admit that it was nice to have a little bit of time off but wow, were you all busy in the FMS gallery. We were so thrilled to be a part of your holiday stamping and really enjoyed seeing your creations! The oh so talented Kim Singdahlsen has a fun and unique sketch for this week and it is sure to get you right to playing with all your new holiday gifts!
The focal point of my card today is this gorgeous flower from Altenew from the set Beautiful Day. I had been showing a friend how to use the Zig Clean Color Markers one day and this flower was the result (hers was really lovely too). Because it was sitting on my desk calling to be used, I built the card up around it. I stamped with the diagonal image from Gorgeous Grunge (SU) using Versamark Ink onto Basic Gray card stock and then heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I did the same with the sentiment from the Watercolor Wishes stamp set. After fussy cutting the flower and leaves, I popped them up on Dimensionals. These lovely sequins from Pretty Pink Posh were the perfect finish, don’t you think?!
Now I will let you get to the rest of the team’s gorgeous work! You can tell they were happy to get back to the sketches too!
Thanks so much for stopping in today. I hope your week is fantastic! See you soon!
