Picket Fence Studios July Release

Picket Fence Studios July Release published on No Comments on Picket Fence Studios July Release

Happy weekend to you all! Sorry for the quiet around here. I don’t know about you but I find that summer is actually a bit busier for me on many things that keep me from stamping. Work, of course, but also having the boys around all the time. Which is awesome. And loud! But when it comes to a release, like this new one from Picket Fence Studios, everyone in the house knows to give mom some creative time!

My first card today shares the new Woodsy Forest Die. I love the pretty framing effect this gives and also the detail in the die itself. I used a woodgrain paper from my stash and cut out the trees. It was pretty in itself but then I added a bit of distress ink with my Life Changing Blender Brushes to help highlight the details. To create a background (like peering through the trees), I started with the Layers of Grass Stencil on Bristol Paper with the brushes again. The best part of this stencil is that is has both the positive and the negative. You can create the grass and then add the sky without messing it up. Such a nice touch for a stencil! I kept this pretty simple with just a couple of wooden flowers (again from my stash) that were colored with the inks and then decided that a word die was the way to go. This Lovely Word Die from last month’s release called out. I used the Tattered Rose (like on the sky) again and simply cut out the word. I like the softness of vellum in the background since it keeps to the same feeling of the sky.

Next up, I went all in on coloring this gorgeous new stencil called Heart of Flowers. It is SOOOO pretty! I found that the little round Blender Brush was perfect (actually I used two of them) to get into the nooks of the stencil. Also super helpful was a product called Pixie Spray. This is a much needed thing if you love stencils as much as I do. What is it? A spray that adds a bit of tack to the stencil so that it stays in place while you color. It made this detail work a breeze with no slipping while I colored. On this one, I used Catherine Pooler inks and the colors blended on so easily. I added a sentiment from the Small Ways to Say Thanks set.

Ok, that is it for today! I’ll have another card to share tomorrow with another set from the release. You are sure to love all the products so hop over to the site to see them all by clicking here: Picket Fence Studios

Thanks so much for stopping in today. Hope you have a great day and I’ll see you again soon.

It’s In The Bag for Picket Fence Studios

It is my turn to be up on the Picket Fence Studios blog today and I want to share my card here too. I have to confess that I am more and more in love with many of these PFS “Girls”. I have never been much for coloring people but these images really do make me want to learn more about skin color, hair color and honing my coloring skills. They are perfect for trying new things too.

This gal is BFF Kate and she is particularly stylish, don’t you think?! I gave her a wardrobe of neutrals but decided she needed a statement bag. What better than orange for that? Once she was colored, I wanted to add some splatters but did not want them on the image. So I cut out some scrap paper with the coordinating die and laid it over the colored image. Then I could splatter away without putting it where I didn’t want paint.

I was searching for sentiments that seemed right and stumbled across this one in the You’ve Got This set. I love it for Kate! Hope you have some time to do some coloring and that you have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping in. See you soon!

Picket Fence Studios June Release

Picket Fence Studios June Release published on 1 Comment on Picket Fence Studios June Release

I am so excited to share two cards that I have made for today’s June Release from Picket Fence Studios. I’m also on the company blog today!

Just To Say Hello by Jen Timko | BFF Claire Stamp Set and Dies by Picket Fence Studios, Copic Coloring

To start, the new BFF Claire could not be more fun. I love these “girls” to color and she is no exception. I chose a fun yellow dress and pink shoes. She looks like the kind of gal that can carry off pink shoes, don’t you think?! I pulled some old patterned papers from my stash to provide some extra texture and even a button and twine to match.

For my second card, I wanted something with a more masculine feel. So I grabbed the new Polka Dot Grunge stamp and the new Seriously die. Aren’t they great? You see, I needed to make an anniversary card for my DH and I had to avoid my normal girly tendencies. I love how this Catherine Pooler ink provides beautiful coverage on a solid image stamp. It keeps all the details! Audrey Blue is the card stock to coordinate and I cut a large circle out and popped it up on foam dots. I used clear foam under the vellum sentiment layer (still hidden under the word as much as possible) to allow it to be popped up invisibly.

And guess what I discovered? I went to the obvious set for the inside of my card, Ways to Say Happy Anniversary. Then I found this sentiment with the same script style as the die on the front! Also, a perfectly true sentiment for my DH.

If you want to see the whole release, make sure you click here and check out the Latest Releases section. Stamps, dies, word dies, stencils…something for everyone! Enjoy! Thanks for stopping in today. Have a great Friday!

Welcome to the Stamping Friends Trifecta Blog Hop with Picket Fence Studios, Gina K Designs and My Sweet Petunia!  This collaboration of artists and friends is sure to inspire and I’m thrilled to be a part of it!  I have two cards to share today!  See links at the bottom plus how to win one of three $50 gift certificates from our sponsors.

Birthday Wishes by Jen Timko | Elegant Asters Stamp Set and Dies by Gina K Designs, Wishes Stamp by Gina K Designs, Wishes Die by Gina K Designs, Copic coloring, FlowersFirst I have a card that uses the Elegant Asters Stamp Set by Gina K Designs.  I stamped the images using my Misti (because I ALWAYS stamp with my Misti) to ensure perfect inking.  Then I colored them using Copic Markers.  Since they are Asters, I focussed on purples but decided that adding in a yellow flower would be a nice contrast.  The butterfly was a must add to this card because, well, it is such a beautiful butterfly!!  I used the Wishes Die paired with the Wishes Mini Stamp Set for the sentiment.  And here is the kicker…that close cutting with perfect borders on the tiny sentiment??  Yeah, the My Sweet Petunia Cut Align!!!  Oh, I’m in LOVE!!  I added some splatters using black watercolor paint and Smooch Moonlight Accent Ink.

Sending Birthday Wishes by Jen Timko | Wishes Stamp set and Wishes Word Die by Gina K Designs, Cut Align by My Sweet Petunia, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence StudiosFor my second card, I decided to focus on only the sentiment.  Same die and stamp but a totally different vibe!  I used Gina K Inks with my Life Changing Blender Brushes to add ink to some watercolor paper.  I added some water to soften the look and splattered with some water as well.  By using the blender brushes, I could control the color placement which made it work easier for me.  Again, I used the Cut Align to create the layered tiny sentiments.  The Blue Lagoon Card Stock was wonderful for a base to make the colors pop!

Next up is Jana Millen.

Below is the list of all the participants in today’s Trifecta Hop! You can refer to this at any time if you get lost on the links:

I’m so glad you stopped by today! Remember to comment all around the hop. Each store (Picket Fence Studios, Gina K Designs and My Sweet Petunia) will be giving a $50 gift certificate to their store (that is THREE chances for shopping!).

Sandra Girl for Picket Fence Studios

Sandra Girl for Picket Fence Studios published on 1 Comment on Sandra Girl for Picket Fence Studios

Today is my day over at the Picket Fence Studios blog!  I’m so happy I got a moment in my crazy week to color this gorgeous Sandra Girl image.  I have been in awe of her from the moment I saw her and now I have two of them.  Yep, two.  The original size (shown here) and Kiss Kiss Sandra Girl which has the image a little larger along with the sentiment I used today.  The original has a die coming out soon too!!

Beauty Lies Within by Jen Timko | Sandra Girl Stamp Set and Die by Picket Fence Studios, Kiss Kiss Sandra Girl Stamp by Picket Fence Studios, Random Dots Stencil by Picket Fence Studios, Copic Coloring, Distress Oxide Ink, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence StudiosI colored her using Copic Markers (listed below in my Link Deli list) and just enjoyed working on her shading.  All of the girls really allow for practicing coloring skills and playing with skin and hair variations.  I thought pink would be a nice compliment to Sandra since she reminds me of a friend who happens to love pink.

Beauty Lies Within by Jen Timko | Sandra Girl Stamp Set and Die by Picket Fence Studios, Kiss Kiss Sandra Girl Stamp by Picket Fence Studios, Random Dots Stencil by Picket Fence Studios, Copic Coloring, Distress Oxide Ink, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence StudiosAfter I was done coloring, I used Distress Oxide ink on watercolor paper with the Random Dots Stencil for a pretty background.  The butterfly is from the original Sandra too.

I hope you enjoy this card.  Hop over to the Picket Fence Studios blog for more and for lots of inspiration from the design team each week.  Until next time, wishing a safe Memorial Day weekend (if you celebrate) full of thanks and remembrance.

Freshly Made Sketches #388

Freshly Made Sketches #388 published on 5 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #388

As promised, I’m back to share another card I made for the May release from Picket Fence Studios and it does double duty with the newest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  This versatile design by Karren Johnson is fabulous and I could not resist using the new Poppy Blossoms stamp and dies with it.

FMS388 by Jen Timko | Poppy Blossoms Stamp Set and Dies by Picket Fence Studios, Copic ColoringThis new flower set has so many options and ways to use it.  You already know that I can’t resist a flower but it is even better when a set has lots of image choices.  I stamped the single flower and then colored using Copic Markers to give a pop of red.  I did keep some light space to help show off the pretty details of the image itself.  Once it was colored, I cut it out using the coordinating die for the focal point of the sketch.

FMS388 by Jen Timko | Poppy Blossoms Stamp Set and Dies by Picket Fence Studios, Copic ColoringI chose one of the smaller flowers as the side “circles”.  I masked off the stem a bit with a sticky not and then stamped it twice on Neenah Desert Storm paper.  The sentiment comes from an older set called Unicorn Friends.  Pretty font, isn’t it?  I kept the card really neutral to show off that bold flower and simply added a few sequins.Just a reminder if you did not see it yesterday….  There is a celebration sale going on at Picket Fence Studios.  All you have to do is click here:  Picket Fence Studios Sale and enter the code PFS20 and you will get 20% off your order.  Additionally, I have a $100 Gift Certificate to give away.  It is an instagram giveaway so go over there to my page (jentimko) to see the details.  I hope you enjoy this and have a moment to join in our challenge this week.  Thanks for stopping in.  See you soon!

Picket Fence Studios May Release plus a SALE and GIVEAWAY

Picket Fence Studios May Release plus a SALE and GIVEAWAY published on 9 Comments on Picket Fence Studios May Release plus a SALE and GIVEAWAY

Welcome to release day with Picket Fence Studios!!  I’m excited to share for a couple of reasons.  First, this release is really outstanding (again).  But second, and most importantly, this is a big month for Picket Fence Studios.  It is their 1-year anniversary!!  And the whole team gets to celebrate by sharing a gift certificate with lucky winners.  That’s right!  Each and every design team member gets to give away a $100 Shopping Spree and a COUPON CODE.  Details are at the bottom of my post.

In My Prayers by Jen Timko | Peach and Piper Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Layers of Grass Stencil by Picket Fence Studios, Life Changing Blender Brushes, Copic ColoringSo first up on the release is a set called Peach and Piper (with coordinating dies).  I’m going to be REALLY honest with you.  If you want this set, you need to go to my link below and buy it now.  Like right now.  Because it is going to fly off the shelves.  It is so incredibly cute with fantastic sentiments.  I am pretty sure the whole team is making stuff with it because we simply cannot stop ourselves.  I stamped the little hugging bunnies with Momento Tuxedo Black and colored using Copic Markers.  Then I created a little bit of texture inside of the scalloped frame with the new Layers of Grass Stencil.  I love how it has the positive and the negative to easily ink both the grass and the background or sky.  I inked the little frame using Peachy Keen (Lawn Fawn) to coordinate with the paper but also to keep with the stenciled ink look (all the inking is super fast with the Life Changing Blender Brushes!).  I chose a sentiment from Peach and Piper and then added a little bird from Chirp Chirp.
Inlaid Flower Die by Jen Timko | Flower Negative Die by Picket Fence Studios, A Bright Night Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Alcohol Ink TechniquesFor my second card, I thought it would be fun to try and inlaid die technique.  I first colored a piece of Yupo using Wild Plum and Silver Alcohol Inks and then cut it out using the new Flower Negative Die.  It was easier to show you than tell you so I created a short video on the how to.

The direct link is here: Inlaid Die Technique

Now on to the details of the sale and giveaway. First of all, a sale. Yes, a SALE!!! To celebrate the one year anniversary, there is a 20% off sale.  How do you get it?? Click this link:  PICKET FENCE STUDIOS and use code PFS20.

For this giveaway, I’ll be running it on Instagram.  Later today, look for the post in my feed with all the details (I will be posting after I fly this morning).  I am there as jentimko or you can click my link in the sidebar on the right for IG.

Happy sale shopping and I hope to see you over at IG for the giveaways.  Thanks so much for stopping in. I’ll be back tomorrow with another card from this release and the latest from Freshly Made Sketches.  See you then!

Freshly Made Sketches #387

Freshly Made Sketches #387 published on 22 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #387

Have you noticed a distinct theme to all the cards around on social media this week?  Yes, indeed, it is Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop time!  You have to go check out all the amazing coffee themed cards.  It is seriously awesome!  I could not bear to miss out so I thought I’d use this week’s new Freshly Made Sketches challenge to create a card for the hop.  The oh-so-talented Cécile is our sketch designer this week and her sketch is unique and fabulous (just like her).

FMS387 by Jen Timko | Coffee Understands Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Down to the Last Drop Stencil by Picket Fence Studios, Cup of Thanks Stamp Set and Dies by Studio Katia, Copic Coloring, Coffee Lover's Blog HopBecause you are supposed to stick to a spring/summer theme, I opted to use bright happy colors for my clean cards.  I used the cup from Coffee Understands (Picket Fence Studios) and stamped it three times.  I colored each cup using Copic color families (they are listed below) and then cut them out by hand.  After some debate on what to put behind them, I had an a-ha moment when looking through my stencils.  I pulled out the Down to the Last Drop Stencil (Picket Fence Studios) and used it as an embossing folder.  Now this was a test of sorts.  You see, I just got a brand new Crafter’s Companion Gemini Jr. and I wanted to see how it would emboss.  It came with the embossing mat and it worked perfectly with my stencil.  To finish with the sketch, I thought a coffee sentiment would be good.  I chose Cup of Thanks (Studio Katia) with the coordinating die and sentiment.

I’m off to get this entered over with the Coffee Lovers!  Make sure you join in and you’ll get an opportunity to win prizes from their sponsors (so many awesome sponsors!!).  Hope to see you in the Freshly Made Sketches gallery too!  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon!

Freshly Made Sketches #386 plus a Bonus Card

Freshly Made Sketches #386 plus a Bonus Card published on 5 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #386 plus a Bonus Card

Hi all!  I get to have a double play today!  First of all, it is Freshly Made Sketches day.  We have a new, awesome sketch by Jennifer Brum and it is super fun!  Second, I’m over on the Picket Fence Studios blog AND up with a Product Focus Review for Splitcoaststampers.  YAY!!!

FMS386 by Jen Timko | Chirp Chirp Stamp Set and Dies by Picket Fence Studios, Creative Cards by Clearsnap, Dyestress Ink by ClearsnapSo first up, my card for FMS.  I love this fun sketch and the angle makes it a real standout.  I started off with a base from Clearsnap called Creative Cards.  These are super fun (and available on Amazon).  I topped it off with an old retired paper for contrast.  The little birds are from a Picket Fence Studios stamp set called Chirp Chirp which is super cute.  I cut the birds out with the coordinating dies (what a life saver for small images!).  The birds were colored with new colors of Dyestress Inks by Clearsnap.  And that brings me to my Product Focus Review.  I have reviewed the Dyestress Inks before but I now have the newest color release and it is wonderful!  I’m sure you have noticed a couple of other cards using them (last week’s FMS card was one).  This was all part of my analysis.  You can read all about it here:  Splitcoaststampers Product Focus

Sunny Peacock by Jen Timko | Peacock Tail Stencil by Picket Fence Studios, Spotlight on You Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Colorbox Dyestress Ink by Clearsnap, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence Studios, Summer Glitter Paper by Concord and 9th My “bonus” card today is also for that review and I posted it over at the Picket Fence Studios blog today with the details.  I just wanted to share it so you could see it here too.  Head over to the blog to read all about it!

Whew…lots to typing and busy, busy.  I hope you enjoy both of these cards.  Remember to go see the ink review at Splitcoaststampers and the peacock card at Picket Fence Studios.  Thanks so much for stopping in today.  See you again soon!  (FYI, I separated the links into the two cards to make it simpler for you)

Paradigm Showcase Tour Blog Hop

Paradigm Showcase Tour Blog Hop published on No Comments on Paradigm Showcase Tour Blog Hop

Hi everyone!  I have a totally new (for me) kind of post today.  I am thrilled to be part of an introductory showcase tour for a new fabric line from Hoffman Fabrics.  Yes, fabrics.  NOT my normal medium but I could not say no when I was asked to participate in such an exciting launch.  You see, my friend Sarah Thomas of SARIDITTY is the designer of this new line and I could not be even a little more excited for her.  What a treat to see your own line of designs!  At the bottom of my post I will have a link to her entire Lookbook of products so you can see the full designs and other coordinating accessories from her.

Paradigm card by Jen Timko | Paradigm Fabric by Hoffman Fabrics designed by Sarah Thomas, My Man My Friend Stamp Set by Picket Fence StudiosFirst though, I want to share the projects I made using these fabrics.  To start, I stayed way in my lane and created a card using the pretty designs.  The “extra” that I used was the selvedges from the fabrics themselves.  I cut them off the edges and stitched them together to highlight Sarah’s name, the line and Hoffman.  I thought this would be a special way to congratulate Sarah on this big moment for her.

Paradigm card and Altered Peat Pot by Jen Timko | Paradigm Fabric by Hoffman Fabrics designed by Sarah Thomas, My Man My Friend Stamp Set by Picket Fence StudiosI lined up the selvedges, stitched them and then cut them out using an old butterfly die.  I used some Fray Check on the edges to prevent fraying and then used fabric stabilizer to get more dimension and stability on the fabric.  To frame it, I cut a stitched square from Fog Gray card stock and put some more fabric behind it.  The sentiment seemed perfect and comes from Picket Fence Studios.  I thought that maybe I needed a coordinating project to share so I went back to my archives for inspiration.  I found some rolled flowers that I had done in paper and thought they would be spectacular in fabric.  These designs do not disappoint!

Paradigm Altered Peat Pot by Jen Timko | Paradigm Fabric by Hoffman Fabrics designed by Sarah ThomasAgain, I used an old rolled flower die to cut the fabric.  Each flower has two of the flower cuts to add fullness.  I treated the fabric the same as above and then rolled it up.  I used prewrapped wire “stems” to allow me to place them in a container.  Using another butterfly die (because Sarah’s logo uses butterflies and her designs have them throughout), I created a 3-d version to add to the basket.  I chose a pale print and color to wrap a peat pot which had been haphazardly painted with off white acrylic paint.  Mod Podge secured the fabric to the pot and I tied it up with some seam binding.

Paradigm Altered Peat Pot by Jen Timko | Paradigm Fabric by Hoffman Fabrics designed by Sarah ThomasFinally, I rolled up some of her fabrics to create a little display basket for her booth.  She will be traveling and sharing this line so follow her to find her schedule of events.

I hope you like my creations with this beautiful new line.  Now run over and take a look at the complete collection here:  Hoffman Fabrics Spring 2019 Sarah Thomas Lookbook
