Happy Little Wreath

Happy Little Wreath published on 3 Comments on Happy Little Wreath

I have a quick post for today because I want to share a set of cards I created (and am creating more of).  Not sure how it happens that I’m behind on making cards given that I started in August.  But here we are.  So I’m pulling out the Misti and putting the sweet elves (translated kids) to work and cranking out some cards.  In bulk.  Which I never really do.  Did I mention that the Misti makes it possible??  My 10 yo was die cutting with the Stitched Rectangles and then stamping when he commented how he was impressed with his CPM rate (that would be cards per minute).  Yep.  He made 12 while I made 1/2 card (on another project).  And everyone single one was perfect.  When I get home from this trip, I have them all ready to finish into final cards.  These were his model and we liked them enough to make more.

The key is this pretty wreath.  I got it on sale from Newton’s Nook over the Thanksgiving holiday and what a good get!  The set is called Happy Little Thoughts and it has such pretty elements.  This wreath though….I just knew it would be great for my Christmas cards and I was right!  I colored some Basic Rhinestones with a Copic and added them on along with a twine bow.  The sentiment is from the retired Santa’s Gifts (SU).  All the stamping was done in Early Espresso onto Crumb Cake card stock.

Ok….like I said.  Quick post but I thought you might like a great last minute, I’m really late getting my cards done idea.  *smile*  Hope your day is fantastic!  Back tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches!

So it is officially crunch time.  I am working like mad on Christmas cards and, somehow, I’m still behind.  Thank goodness for this great sketch from Amy over at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  I was able to put this together quickly and keep plugging away at my to-do list!

I started with the Stitched with Cheer Card Kit from the Holiday Catalog and modified it just a little.  I took one of the trees and stitched it up per the directions (except did not attach) and that took about a minute.  Really.  The sewing adds a lot but not very much time!  I cut a panel from Kraft card stock and heat embossed this sentiment from WPlus9 using Versamark ink and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  The gold doily is from the kit as is the card base.  Even the matching envelope was all ready for me to put together.  This kit is a huge time saver!!  The cards are cute as is but also fun to change with small modifications to personalize them.

Ok….back out on the road this week.  Let me know if you’ll be flying on United for your holiday travels and look for me if you are!!  I hope you have a fabulous day!

The Card Concept #63

The Card Concept #63 published on 3 Comments on The Card Concept #63

Jen Timko - CC63 - Poinsettia GreetingsToday is a two post Wednesday and this is my first card for the day.  I’m so excited to share the inspiration from The Card Concept for our latest challenge.  As I was looking at the beautiful details of that fireplace, I found that the colors and the patterns started to jump out at me and so an idea was born.

I think this flower from Poinsettia (Simon Says Stamp) is simply wonderful to color.  I used it with Copics last week but decided to try it with Zig Clean Color Markers for this challenge.  I thought the watercolor feel was more in line with the country vibe of the photo.  I stamped the flower using Versafine Onyx Black and then masked it to add the leaf.  The paper is Fabriano Watercolor Paper.  The sentiments from the same stamp set worked perfectly for this so I inked up this combination with Versafine again and used my Misti to make sure my stamping was right.  I always use my Misti when I have colored the image (because…well, you know why).  I used the Wonky Stitched Rectangles Dies to add a bit more detail when I cut the image panel down to size.  Now for the background.  I created a card base using this great pattern from Under the Tree DSP (SU ret).  Yep, the whole card base.  Because the other side (now the inside) is a Kraft pattern with little stars.  I love the result!!  Finally, I pulled some sequins out and started to mix and match. These happen to all be from Paper Pumpkin kits.

Make sure you check my second post for Freshly Made Sketches too.  I am still recovering from our Thanksgiving adventures but the fun was worth all the traveling.  Hope you have a great week!  See you soon!

Jen Timko - FMS264 - Christmas PoinsettiaHappy Wednesday to you!  For those of you in the US, I’m sure you are preparing for Thanksgiving!  And for your holiday crafting time, we have a lovely sketch for you from Freshly Made Sketches.  The incredible Karren Johnson has a winning sketch that is sure to spark your creativity.  Perfect for fast cards or those that require a bit more time!

I opted for the “a bit more time” choice but only because I had colored these flowers last week.  I took some stamped images and my Copics on a trip with me and took a bit of time just to color for The 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  I used two of the poinsettias and some of the leaves from the Poinsettia stamp set (Simon Says Stamp) to create this lovely flower.  The set comes with coordinating dies but I chose to fussy cut these instead.  I used a card base from an old holiday kit and then cut some Thick Whisper White with my Stitched Rectangles Dies (SSS).  The sentiment is from WPlus9’s Be Merry set.  I just LOVE this sentiment and the fonts!!  I added some little pearls to finish and add a little balance without detracting from this flower.

If you are traveling this weekend, I wish you a safe trip and no delays!  Thanks so much for stopping in today.  See you soon!

Jen Timko - FMS263 - Be MerryI cannot believe it has been a week since I posted.  I am in the joy and pain of pre-holiday flying.  I was totally fortunate in getting Thanksgiving off but to make that happen my monthly flying has been really front loaded.  So…not much stamping time.  But today is Freshly Made Sketches day and I simply cannot miss out on that!!  And oh I cannot wait to see what this week’s gallery looks like!!  The incredibly fabulous Cécile Ribon is our sketch hostess and this one is super creative!

After pondering for a bit on how to incorporate circles, I had a burst of inspiration.  I just got this awesome Be Merry set from WPlus9 and it seemed just right for all the elements.  So I stamped a bunch of them with Momento Black ink and then colored with my Copic Markers.  This set has matching dies which make it easy to create these groups!!  I thought it would be fun to use a black card base to help everything pop that much more.  I added extra dimension by using, well, Dimensionals to pop some of the layers.  Then I added some tiny Basic Pearls to the flower centers.

fms-final-263-001Ok, it is your turn!  Run right over and check out the inspiration and then get to work so we can see your creations!  Also, there is a new challenge over at The Card Concept today.  I just could not get it together enough to finish my card (not enough hours home) but I want you to see all the gorgeous work for the challenge!  I think you will want to play along there too (why not join the challenges??!)!  Thanks so much for stopping in today.  So glad you did!  See you on Friday for this month’s Fancy Friday hop.

Jen Timko - FMS262Today is Freshly Made Sketches day.  Thank goodness.  Because I, for one, need something happy to occupy my time.  I feel certain there are others who share my thoughts.  The lovely Jennifer Brum is our sketch hostess.  I know you will love it as much as I did.

I will admit that things have been super busy here are I had this flower colored from a project last week.  Copics were the tool of choice for coloring this flower and it was such fun.  I had not used them for a bit and forgot how much I love them.  I added some Pop of Pink DSP with this cool chevron pattern and a sentiment from the same set as the flower, Altenew’s Beautiful Day.

So today is one of those days that we have a choice.  I am going to choose kindness.  I wish you a beautiful day!  See you soon!

cc61-lovely-dayWe have a beautiful inspiration piece over at The Card Concept this week and it was hard for me to narrow down which elements I wanted to use.  No surprise, the team has created some really pretty projects and you are going to have fun with this one!

I chose to use one of my favorite flowers from the Altenew Beautiful Day stamp set.  I stamped on Canson Watercolor paper using WPlus9 Black Dye Ink and then colored using Tim Holtz Distress ink in Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry.  The pretty mint typewrite inspired the Mint Macaron card base.  I cut image layer using Stitched Rectangled from Simon Says Stamp.  The sentiment was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black and comes from the Lovely set by Ellen Hutson (Essentials by Ellen).  Finally the little details.  I added some lace trim and gold thread (hard to see in the picture) to keep with the sketch from this week’s CAS(E) this Sketch.  I also colored this for Kathy Racoosin’s Thirty Day Coloring Challenge….a great way to motivate yourself to color just a little every day!

Just a reminder that this is my second post of the day.  Please check my card for Freshly Made Sketches as well. I hope you enjoy this and that you are having a great week.  See you soon!

fms261-deck-the-hallsToday is Freshly Made Sketches day and I have some fun for you!  They sweet and oh so talented Cindy Hall is our hostess and she has created an instant classic for us to use this week!

A little while ago, I was lucky enough to have a layover in Dallas-Ft. Worth and got to spend a whole day with the lovely Bev Gerard.  She is even nicer in person that she is over at Splitcoaststampers (almost impossible to believe!!).  She and her dear husband came over to whisk me away from a long boring layover hotel and straight into her amazing stamp room.  I sat there in awe and we even did a little bit of stamping.  One of the things I brought home was this stamped image from Merry Mice and I knew I wanted to color him for The 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  I posted a closeup of him yesterday on Instagram and you can see the sparkle in his little sweater and on the ornament!  I used my Zig Clean Color pens for coloring and then added some Wink of Stella to add some shimmer.  The image was stamped on Fabriano Watercolor Paper which happens to be a nice color match for Shimmery White card stock from SU.  So that is what I used as a base.  The sparkle from the Stella is also a nice complement to the shimmer from the base.  I added a Cherry Cobbler layer and a Bermuda Bay embossed layer across the card.  Isn’t this mouse just the cutest???  I love him so much!  If you do too, you are in luck.  He is on sale right now for a 25%  discount!!  It is our lucky day!

fms-final-261-001Just a reminder that this is post 1 of 2 today.  I’m back in a little while with a beautiful inspiration challenge from The Card Concept.  Please make sure you go check out that FMS team’s work this week and let them know how much you appreciate their work!  See you soon!

Fancy Friday – Merry Tags Partial Die Cut

Fancy Friday – Merry Tags Partial Die Cut published on 6 Comments on Fancy Friday – Merry Tags Partial Die Cut

Jen Timko - Merry Tags Partial Die Cut TechniqueWelcome to this month’s Fancy Friday Blog Hop!  Our team is a group of stampers who love to make beautiful things.  Sometimes they are clean, sometimes they are layered but the one thing I can say for sure is that our projects will be fancy!  If you hopped over from the lovely and talented Connie, welcome to the next stop.  For October, our theme is a Technique challenge!  I love a good technique and I thought it would be fun to revisit the Partial Die Cut Technique.

So I debated whether I should do this as a shaker card or using DSP and I finally decided to show you both!!  They each have their wow and I can totally see you being able to go crazy with ideas on them.  To keep it simple, I created a video tutorial for you on the shaker card.

If you are having trouble seeing it in your email, you can click HERE!

Just a few of the details to add in from the video.  The DSP in the background on the deer and tree tag is from the Floral Boutique pack.  Just remember your paper doesn’t have to be “holiday” to work perfectly.  And you could totally use some Glimmer Paper for a wow effect!  DSP on the bottom panel or textures like the Softly Falling Embossing Folder will change the look and allow for fun variations.  I’m really hoping you’ll share your versions with me!!

Fancy-Friday-08I think you are going to jump for joy as you hop around this month!  You know these stampers are simply going to wow you!!  And speaking of wow, I get the privilege of introducing a new member of our Fancy Friday team.  The amazing Sue Plote has agree to join us.  Her work is extraordinary and we are thrilled to have her along.  Have fun on the hop!

Freshly Made Sketches #260

Freshly Made Sketches #260 published on 6 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #260

Jen Timko - FMS260The lovely and super talented Kim Singdahlsen is our sketch hostess this week at Freshly Made Sketches and she really created a unique one.  Super interesting and so many ways to play with the idea!

After pondering the “any shape” feature for a while, I thought I would see if these leaves from Concord and 9th would be right.  Yep!  Totally!!  I colored with Tim Holtz Distress Ink onto watercolor paper and then cut the leaves out.  It gives them a soft, varied look in person!  I first started using Kraft and then white but finally realized that this DSP pack (retired from SU) was the PERFECT answer.  Don’t forget to look in your stash (because I know you have one) for those hidden gems that you have forgotten after the season changed.  I love the plaid for fall and the pretty polka dots were a great background for the sentiment.  This script/type combination is from Mama Elephant’s Butterfly Kisses set.  I stamped in Early Espresso using my Misti to get a super crisp and clean look.  I played with the placement of the leaves and found that this little button provided the right balance.  See…you are going to have fun playing with this one!!

I hope you enjoy this one and that you will join us this week.  I’ll be back on Friday with the latest from the Fancy Friday team.  Lots of fun on that one that you won’t want to miss.  Until then, have a great week!
