Picket Fence Studios November Release Day and FMS #363

Picket Fence Studios November Release Day and FMS #363 published on 9 Comments on Picket Fence Studios November Release Day and FMS #363

Hi everyone!  I’m happy to be back today after my month of time off.  I have to start with a big thank you to all who sent me such kind words on the passing of my mother.  I feel like blogging is one of the last things to conquer but I know that my stamping community will understand some inconsistencies over the next month or so.  Suffice it to say that my sister and I still have much to do.  All of the sweet cards, nice comments and emails were very much appreciated and I’m truly grateful.

I’m back today with the start of the November release from Picket Fence Studios and I’m the sketch hostess for Freshly Made Sketches too.  Nothing like jumping in with both feet!  While I haven’t been posting, I have been doing some work and have things to share with you over the next couple of weeks.  Maybe even a video…gasp!!! But not today, haha!  Today, I’m just sharing this adorable new image set called Coffee Understands and a must-have background stamp called Rough Around the Edges.  This gives you just an idea of how great the new release is and I’ve had such fun just creating with the sets.

FMS370 by Jen Timko | Coffee Understands Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Rough Around the Edges Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Copic ColoringThis fun gal was the inspiration for my sketch (the joy of being the hostess)!  Isn’t she adorable?  I colored her using my Copic markers.  This was the first card I had made in a month and I totally appreciated how fast this was to color.  And then choosing a sentiment…  Well, this one simply made me laugh out loud so clearly it was the winner!  I’m not lying when I say that there is a tad bit of truth to this one for me over the last month…  Patience is not always my strong suit and I have needed a bit of it as we tread through paperwork and details.

For the background layer, I thought this sketch was the perfect place to show you a peek of a new stamp.  Rough Around the Edges is a striped pattern that will find itself on many cards.  Just a perfectly neutral pattern that can be used for bold or subtle designs.  LOVE that!  I chose a few sequins from SU to keep with the fall colors of the coffee cup and that is it.

I hope you will enjoy playing along with my sketch this week.  The team has created some amazing cards and I suspect the gallery is going to be full of inspiration!  Thanks for stopping by today.  I’ll see you again on Friday with a card (and maybe that video) I created for the Picket Fence Studios blog.  Until then, have a lovely day.

Just a quick share today with one of the new October release sets from Picket Fence Studios called A Gnome Winter.  I love this fellow!  Tons of personality!

Let It Snow by Jen Timko | A Gnome Winter Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Shark Bite Sequins by Picket Fence Studios, Falling Snow Background Plate by Gina Marie DesignsI stamped our little friend onto white cardstock and colored him with Copic markers.  Then I pulled out this sweet background die by Gina Marie Designs (Falling Snow Background Die) and cut out the layer.  I stamped the sentiment from the set and put the image layer on a blue background.  Finally I found these Shark Bite sequins matched perfectly.

I hope you are enjoying the release as much as I am.  Thanks so much for stopping in today.  See you soon!

Happy Wednesday!!  Today is Freshly Made Sketches day and I’m happy to share a classic sketch with you for the week.  This one by Narelle is simply a go-to winner!  LOVE it!

FMS359 by Jen Timko | Layering Leaves Dies by Concord and 9th, Give Thanks Stamp Set by Concord and 9th, Daniel Smith Watercolors, Wonky Stitched Dies by MFT StampsIn a surprise move, I actually opted not to use flowers for the circle elements.  That is usually where my brain goes but given that fall seems to be wanting to finally show up, I decided leaves were decidedly more appropriate.  And what better leaves to use that the Concord and 9th Layering Leaves Dies?!  They are gorgeous and perfect!  I cut the leaves from watercolor paper first.  Then, using Daniel Smith watercolors, I painted them with fall colors.  If you have never used these high quality paints, I linked a palette of these watercolors below.  This is a perfect way to try them (and fall in love with them!) with virtually no commitment.  I love the sentiment from the coordinating Give Thanks stamp set because, well, it is true.  At least when it actually acts like fall.  Which has been not at all this year.  I thought the Wonky Stitched Dies were a nice look with the style of the leaves and I used it on Gray Granite cardstock (SU).

You are going to be in awe when you take a look at all the design team created! I think they just knocked it out of the park this week.  There are so many ways to interpret this sketch and I’m certain the gallery will be full of inspiration too.  I hope you will join us and share your creation.  We love seeing what you make!

I’ll be back tomorrow with another card using October release products from Picket Fence Studios.  So glad you stopped in today.  See you soon!

My Kind of Crazy

My Kind of Crazy published on 1 Comment on My Kind of Crazy

I’m back today with another card sharing some of the new products from the Picket Fence Studios October Release.  For today I combined an adorable new image with a sentiment from a not coordinating but oh so perfect set.

My Kind of Crazy by Jen Timko | Princess Owl Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, My Man My Friend Stamp set by Picket Fence StudiosI love this funny little owl and her quirky look!  Those eyebrows make me chuckle!  There is another new sentiment that is awesome for her (Throw on a Crown) but I needed one that I could use with a sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch.  So I chose My Man, My Friend…some of the sentiments are for the men in your life but others are universal.  This one seems like the perfect fit with my Princess Owl!  I colored her with Copic Markers and then added a little doily behind her for texture.

This sketch was perfect for showing her off!  I originally planned on a white base but that was a bit too plain so I chose a base of Lemon Cardstock instead.  This is such a pretty yellow!

So that is it for today.  I am back tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches and on Thursday with another of the new sets from the October release.  So glad you stopped in today!  See you tomorrow!

Picket Fence Studios October Release – Lily Bouquet

Picket Fence Studios October Release – Lily Bouquet published on 8 Comments on Picket Fence Studios October Release – Lily Bouquet

Well, I have some awesome news for you today!  It is Picket Fence Studios October Release day!!  WOOHOO!!  I have a special card to share today and will be sharing projects made with the new sets over the next week.  So. Many. Awesome. Things!!!

Get Well Lilies by Jen Timko | Lily Bouquet Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Ways to Say Get Well Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Copic Coloring, Double Stitched Rectangles Dies by Gina Marie Designs I could hardly choose where to start but anyone who knows me, knows that I have a serious weakness for flowers.  The Lily Bouquet set is too pretty to resist so off I went to my stamp room for some time coloring.  I took a Copic coloring class from my friend Lori Craig a couple of years ago and this color scheme came from the time I had in that class.  I thought it was worth re-visiting for this gorgeous flower set and I love it!!  I used a sentiment from the wonderful Ways to Say Get Well set (a must have for any sentiment hoarder collector like me).

Get Well Lilies by Jen Timko | Lily Bouquet Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Ways to Say Get Well Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Copic Coloring, Double Stitched Rectangles Dies by Gina Marie DesignsI liked the idea of a virtually uncluttered card front so I only added a few pink sequins but I wanted to add another special touch.  I went to another technique that I love of using a colored base for a pretty surprise.  The Cotton Cardstock from Simon Says Stamp was the perfect pink to coordinate with the lilies and I love the result.

You will be in love with all the new sets in this release!  Make sure you go over to the Picket Fence Studios site to see them and check out projects from the rest of the design team that you will find shared on social media and their blogs.  Thanks so much for stopping in today!  I appreciate you sharing your time with me.  See you soon with more from this release!

FMS358 by Jen Timko | Simply Wonderful Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios. 3-1/3" Blending Circle Stencil by Picket Fence StudiosI am so happy to share with you this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess this week is the fabulous Karren Johnson and this sketch is super fun!  Pull out your favorite trios!

I chose the Simply Wonderful set by Picket Fence Studios and used two of the flower stamps for the trio element.  First I created the circle with Distress Ink on Bristol Smooth paper.  The Life Changing Blender Brushes and Squeezed Lemonade Ink made short work of that.  Then I stamped in Distress Oxide Ink for the flower since the ink layers a bit.  Finally I added this great sentiment from the set.  LOVE the font on this!!  I layered onto some yellow card stock and kept the card super clean.

I hope you’ll join us for this week’s sketch!  Make sure you hop over to see all the inspiration from the DT too.  You are going to love all the cards they made!!  Until next time, have a great day!

I created a card for both today’s Picket Fence Studios blog and for a product review for Splitcoaststampers on a new ink from Clearsnap.  The inks are called Colorbox Dyestress Inks and they are really beautiful!  I had such fun blending these colors together and creating a cool background using a new to me technique that is perfect for distress inks.

Smile by Jen Timko | Rose Bouquet Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Colorbox Dyestress Inks, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence Studios, Flower Burst Trio Die by Gina Marie DesignsI’m going to send you to the Picket Fence Studios blog for the how-to but suffice it to say that you NEED these Life Changing Blender Brushes.  I put off some backgrounds that required blending because I was forever getting streaks or edges or something that seemed to ruin what I was working on.  Not with these brushes!

The other product I want to share directly here are the dies I used for this card.  They come from Gina Marie Designs and they are wonderful.  I used the Double Stitched Rectangles and the Flower Burst Trio.  I love this site (and I have no affiliate there….simply loving her dies and her pricing!).

Thanks for stopping in today.  I hope you like this card and this technique.  See you soon!

FMS357 by Jen Timko | Mondo Holly Stamp Set and Dies by Ellen Hutson, Daniel Smith WatercolorsAnd I’m back for my regular Wednesday post!  Thanks for your patience as I caught up to life a bit.  I started with creating a swatch paper for  some new watercolors that I got for my birthday (THANKS MOM!!).  The paints are from Daniel Smith and my friend Lydia puts together splits to share the cost and allow people to have more colors.  Here is my first split….aren’t they pretty?!!

Lydia Split D SwatchingSwatching out the colors was a good way to get back in the groove a bit.  And did I mention they are so pretty!!! Notice that the palette has room for another split….hmmm…..  So after putting these paints down on paper, I decided to get real and actually color an image.  I had ordered this Mondo Holly the second I saw it and thought it would be pretty for today’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  Cécile created this one and I love all the options for it.  I thought this would go another way (with a spotlight vibe) but it didn’t work out quite like I had in my head.  I stamped the holly onto watercolor paper using Gina K’s Amalgam ink.  This is a new ink to me and I just had to give it a go.  It stamped well onto the watercolor paper (always a challenge, don’t you think?).  I did overstamp a few times with my Misti but the result was clear and crisp.  It dried quickly and I was able to get right to watercoloring.  I used colors from my split above (with the addition of one brown from a DS Dot Palette I have from Simon Says Stamp).  I need to work on the shading of the leaves more but I love these colors!  I added a sentiment from the same set and some black to make the image pop.  Finally some sequins in a pretty Rose Gold.I hope you have fun with this sketch and will join in with us.  The inspiration is always amazing from our design team and in the gallery too!  Thanks for stopping in today.  I’ll be back on Friday with a card featuring a new product and a new to me technique.  Until then, have a wonderful week!

I’m thrilled to be sharing one more card as the Guest Designer for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers today.  I’m back using Picket Fence Studios products and I hope you enjoy this.

Cool Beans by Jen Timko | BFF Owl Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Ways to Say Congrats Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence StudiosI’m pretty much in love with the sweet owls and this BFF Owl is super fun to color. I went a little out of the box on her palette and used the new Color Box Dyestress Inks by Clearsnap. They have some beautiful shades and they are great for easy watercoloring and blending. I stamped the owl in Versafine Onyx Black and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Once she was colored I used the new Circle Stencil from Picket Fence Studios and the Life Changing Blender Brushes to create her spotlight.

Cool Beans by Jen Timko | BFF Owl Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Ways to Say Congrats Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence StudiosYou can see that there are seriously no lines from the blending. And the brushes come in big and little sizes so you can use them for all your stencils. The really are life changing when it comes to simplifying your blending. For the sentiment, I used another set from Picket Fence Studios (soon to arrive in the store) called Ways to Say Congrats. This one is perfect for all us coffee fans, don’t you think?

I had so much fun joining in on the Coffee Loving fun this month that I’ll be a part of  their hop celebrating National Coffee Day!!!  A whole day to celebrate coffee…I’m all in!!  And I’m lucky enough to be one of the hop participants with a sponsored prize.  You won’t want to miss it!!  Come back tomorrow for all the fun.  Until then, thanks for stopping in today.
