Happy weekend!! Just a fun extra post to show you a great new set from Concord and 9th called the Posie Fill-In. I was lucky enough to get this from my Stamping Away retreat and could not wait to use it. I stamped the background using Versafine Onyx Black and then added in the different elements with Altenew inks. The flowers were all stamped and cut with the coordinating dies. Such a sweet way to make a fun card and there are so many options!!
Now back to your regularly schedule browsing. I’m off to watch some soccer today!! WOOHOO!! Until next time, have a great day! And to Concord and 9th….THANKS A BUNCH for this awesome bundle!
This is my first post for today (my second, for the August release from NND will be up shortly following). After an amazing week of inspiration and celebration from Freshly Made Sketches, we are on our way to the next 300 sketches this week. The sketch hostess is our lovely friend Jen Brum and she has a unique angled sketch for us this week. I’m in love!!
I chose to make another Christmas card since I’m starting to get the holiday card making buzz. What better image than this beautiful flower from the Poinsettia stamp by Simon Says Stamp? I’m taking another Copic coloring class this Friday (YAY!!!) and I thought I should probably put in a little practice before going. So out came my reds and off to coloring I went. I added in some leaves from the set for another pop of color and then made the rest using Vanilla and Black. Yes, Vanilla. Because Stampin’ Up has a new Thick Vanilla card stock that is amazing!!!! And it works beautifully for Copic coloring!! I chose this sentiment from Concord and 9th since I thought it was a nice fit on the angle and then added some sequins in black. This patterned paper is retired from Stampin’ Up (I have huge stash of black and vanilla papers that I think will finally get the love they deserve!).
I hope you have a great time with this sketch! The team has provided their always spectacular inspiration so check out their work! Thanks so much for stopping in. So glad to see you!
Supplies:
Stamp: Poinsettia (Simon Says Stamp), O Christmas Tree (Concord and 9th); Paper: Thick Very Vanilla(SU), Basic Black (SU), Typeset Specialty DSP (SU Retired); Ink: , Momento Tuxedo Black, Versafine Onyx Black, Copic Markers; Accessories: Metallic Sequins (SU), Misti
I had some time to just stamp last week and I wanted to join in the April Challenge from Where Creativity Meets C9. Their theme this month is One Layer. Sounded right up my alley! With a one layer card the whole focus falls to the image so I choose the beautiful Hello Lovely stamp by Concord & 9th. I really do love it!
Once I had the stamp chosen, the fun was in the colors. I used a light gray card stock and this gorgeous purple pigment ink. It happens to be a sneak peek of a new release coming soon from Clear Snap. Pretty, isn’t it?! The nice part about pigment ink is the strength of color and how it embosses. I just heat embossed with Clear embossing powder. All the work here is done by the great image and the ink!The sentiment for this comes from a holiday set (also C9), O Christmas Tree. I love when sets have purposes beyond the holiday! After cutting the panel with a stitched rectangles die, I thought the card needed just a little more. I recently won some beautiful sequins from 28 Lilac Lane (designed by May Flaum) and the Mixed Berry set went perfectly with the ink. I added a few just to give an extra something to the card.
Today is Freshly Made Sketches day!! Always the most inspirational day of the week! My friend, the amazing Jen Mitchell is our sketch designer this week and I love this one. A lot!
I have had this gorgeous image from Uniko for a while but I needed just the right inspiration for it. I thought this sketch was exactly right to show it off. I heat embossed it (Versamark and White embossing powder) first and then sponged it using Distress Ink in Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon and Mustard Seed. I cut the panel using Stitched Rectangle by Simon Says Stamp. Next I created another panel with sponging for the layer behind. And finally, I added this sentiment from Concord & 9th and sponged again. The gorgeous details of the image get to be the star of the show with the sponging! And this came together pretty quickly…which is amazing since it looks artsy and hard. Nope! Totally easy and fun!
So I know you’ll love this sketch too and I am completely sure that the team will inspire you with their stunning work.
My favorite stamping day of the week is here! Happy Wednesday to you! I’m so excited to share this week’s sketch by coloring genius Karren Johnson. Her split panel concept is so fun and can lead to so many great ideas!
So I’m hoping that I didn’t stretch too far from the sketch but I really tried to make my watercolor ombré layer into three distinctive sections. I used the beautiful Tim Holtz Hickory Smoke Distress Ink to create the colors. I started with a light wash and then went back and layered on more ink. The heart is really one of the leaves from the Layering Leaves Die Set (Concord & 9th) and I just snipped the stem off to turn it into a heart. I colored a scrap of watercolor paper with my Wine Red Zig pen and washed it out a bit with water. Then I die cut with the leaf. So pretty! Finally, after some debate, I chose a sentiment. You see…I need a birthday card for my dear husband and I think this might hit the right masculine note (well, at least it isn’t a flower, haha!). I love that the Moon Rock ink from Altenew is a nice match to the distress ink on the panel with crisper stamping. The sentiment itself is from the January Paper Pumpkin kit. While the kit is an adorable Valentine’s 3-d set, the sentiments are going to be in your go-to list for a while. I love this font and this says it all!
I know the gallery will be full of inspiration this week. The design team has some amazing work already there for you to enjoy. Hope to see your take on the sketch! I’ll be back on Saturday with a fun hop that you are going to love. See you then!
Since it is release week for Newton’s Nook, please bear with me as I combine the two challenges from Freshly Made Sketches and The Card Concept this week. The sketch from the kind and amazing Cindy Hall seemed perfect to with the inspiration piece!
I came back to this gorgeous set from Concord & 9th called Hello Lovely because I really, really wanted to use this sentiment for the sketch. They seemed perfect for each other! I stamped using Versafine Black ink to ensure a crisp look. The two words are actually separate stamps and can be used in multiple ways (one of the things that drew me to the set) and then there is the flower. You may remember the flower from my last card for The Card Concept and it really is a full card size. But how wonderful that you can use a small portion of it too! I used the colors from the inspiration piece (orange, pink and gray) and I love how quick it was to create this pretty watercolor look. The image panel and the base are Shimmery White Card Stock (SU). This paper really does take ink well and is beautiful with a light coloring hand…nevermind the subtle shimmer which is so pretty in person. I added a layer of Tangerine Tango and colored some Basic Pearls with a black Sharpie marker to mimc the speckles from the image and add a little more dimension.
I know you have been getting tons of posts from me this week and I hope you have enjoyed my projects. This is my first post of the day and you will see the next in the January Release from Newton’s Nook Designs in just a bit. The FMS and Card Concept design teams have created marvelous projects for our challenges this week and I hope you will join us for both. Thanks for stopping in. See you soon!
Supplies:
Stamps: Hello Lovely (Concord & 9th); Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, WPlus9 Black Dye, Zig Clean Color Pens; Paper: Shimmery White (SU), Tangerine Tango; Accessories: Misti, Glue Dots, Zig BrusH2O, Basic Pearls, Black Sharpie Marker
Welcome back to a new year of challenges from The Card Concept. I am so happy to share the first one with you! The inspiration piece is really pretty!
I was inspired by the gold and the flowers in the background plus the sentiment on the note. I was lucky enough to receive this beautiful stamp set from Santa. It is called Hello Lovely by Concord & 9th. I stamped in Versamark and embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I did the same with the sentiment. I added just a touch of color with my Zig markers to mimic the pink in the flowers. All I added was a few gold sequins to finish. I chose the Clean and Graphic style for this week.
I hope you will join us for this one. I’m sure you will see something in our inspiration that you love! This is my second post of the day so don’t forget to check out the latest from Freshly Made Sketches too. Thanks for stopping in. See you soon!
Welcome to this month’s Fancy Friday Blog Hop! Our team is a group of stampers who love to make beautiful things. Sometimes they are clean, sometimes they are layered but the one thing I can say for sure is that our projects will be fancy! If you hopped over from the lovely and talented Connie, welcome to the next stop. For October, our theme is a Technique challenge! I love a good technique and I thought it would be fun to revisit the Partial Die Cut Technique.
So I debated whether I should do this as a shaker card or using DSP and I finally decided to show you both!! They each have their wow and I can totally see you being able to go crazy with ideas on them. To keep it simple, I created a video tutorial for you on the shaker card.
If you are having trouble seeing it in your email, you can click HERE!
Just a few of the details to add in from the video. The DSP in the background on the deer and tree tag is from the Floral Boutique pack. Just remember your paper doesn’t have to be “holiday” to work perfectly. And you could totally use some Glimmer Paper for a wow effect! DSP on the bottom panel or textures like the Softly Falling Embossing Folder will change the look and allow for fun variations. I’m really hoping you’ll share your versions with me!!
I think you are going to jump for joy as you hop around this month! You know these stampers are simply going to wow you!! And speaking of wow, I get the privilege of introducing a new member of our Fancy Friday team. The amazing Sue Plote has agree to join us. Her work is extraordinary and we are thrilled to have her along. Have fun on the hop!
The lovely and super talented Kim Singdahlsen is our sketch hostess this week at Freshly Made Sketches and she really created a unique one. Super interesting and so many ways to play with the idea!
After pondering the “any shape” feature for a while, I thought I would see if these leaves from Concord and 9th would be right. Yep! Totally!! I colored with Tim Holtz Distress Ink onto watercolor paper and then cut the leaves out. It gives them a soft, varied look in person! I first started using Kraft and then white but finally realized that this DSP pack (retired from SU) was the PERFECT answer. Don’t forget to look in your stash (because I know you have one) for those hidden gems that you have forgotten after the season changed. I love the plaid for fall and the pretty polka dots were a great background for the sentiment. This script/type combination is from Mama Elephant’s Butterfly Kisses set. I stamped in Early Espresso using my Misti to get a super crisp and clean look. I played with the placement of the leaves and found that this little button provided the right balance. See…you are going to have fun playing with this one!!
I hope you enjoy this one and that you will join us this week. I’ll be back on Friday with the latest from the Fancy Friday team. Lots of fun on that one that you won’t want to miss. Until then, have a great week!
It is time for a new challenge at The Card Concept and I’m so excited to share my Clean and Graphic card. Our inspiration this week is such fun and I was thought I would use the colors to create my card.
I thought the flower from You Are Enough (Concord and 9th) would be perfect for playing with color. I stamped on Fabriano Watercolor Paper using WPlus9 Black Ink. Then I colored using two of Stampin’ Up’s In Colors, Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum. I added a little Tip Top Taupe (mostly because I love the name, haha) to mimic the neutral of the ice cream cone in the photo. I added a sentiment from Lovely (Essentials by Ellen) and some sequins from an old Paper Pumpkin kit. I put the watercolor panel on a Flirty Flamingo card base.
Here is a closeup of how the colors blended. So pretty together! I kept going back in layers to get the variations. This is one of the best things about watercoloring for me. You never quite know how colors will blend and each time you create, the result will be different. I was totally right about this flower being the perfect image!!
The challenge page has so many beautiful pieces by the design team in all the different styles. You are going to be in awe! Just a note, this is my second post for the day. My Freshly Made Sketches post was up first. I hope you like my two projects today. Looking forward to seeing you again soon!
