The Card Concept #61

The Card Concept #61 published on 8 Comments on The Card Concept #61

cc61-lovely-dayWe have a beautiful inspiration piece over at The Card Concept this week and it was hard for me to narrow down which elements I wanted to use.  No surprise, the team has created some really pretty projects and you are going to have fun with this one!

I chose to use one of my favorite flowers from the Altenew Beautiful Day stamp set.  I stamped on Canson Watercolor paper using WPlus9 Black Dye Ink and then colored using Tim Holtz Distress ink in Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry.  The pretty mint typewrite inspired the Mint Macaron card base.  I cut image layer using Stitched Rectangled from Simon Says Stamp.  The sentiment was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black and comes from the Lovely set by Ellen Hutson (Essentials by Ellen).  Finally the little details.  I added some lace trim and gold thread (hard to see in the picture) to keep with the sketch from this week’s CAS(E) this Sketch.  I also colored this for Kathy Racoosin’s Thirty Day Coloring Challenge….a great way to motivate yourself to color just a little every day!

Just a reminder that this is my second post of the day.  Please check my card for Freshly Made Sketches as well. I hope you enjoy this and that you are having a great week.  See you soon!

Jen Timko - SIP#67 I cannot believe that a month has already passed and this is my last week with Stamp Ink Paper.  What fun it has been to join this talented group of stampers!  This week’s challenge is a sketch challenge.  Totally my happy place for sure!

I chose to use LOTS of white space with only this neutral flowers as the focus.  It is the Daisy stamp from Altenew and I love it layered with Altenew’s dye inks.  Their gray family is so wonderful!  I added a sentiment from Ellen Hutson’s Lovely (yes, again….) and a few Pretty Pink Posh Marshmellow Sequins from the Birthday Bling Mix.  The rest of the detail is courtesy of Simon Says Stamp’s Stitched Rectangles.  This is really, really clean but I kind of love all that white!

SIP#64 -Botanical BirthdayI have something fun to share with you today!  I get to be a guest designer with the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge over the month of September!  Awesome!!  And lucky for me they started off “easy” (for me) with a Less Is More challenge this week.  Right up my alley!

Back in July I has colored this flower from Altenew’s Botanical Garden for the 30 day coloring challenge but never used it for anything.  But there it sat calling out to me.  I thought it would be perfect for this kind of challenge since a clean card allows focus on the flower itself.  Just a couple of colors of Zig Clean Color Pens can create such a beautiful look!  I love the wash on this flower!  The sentiment comes from a Paper Pumpkin Kit (love that font!!) and seemed just right to match the style of the image.  I cut the panel using my trust Stitched Rectangles dies and added a few Sparking Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.  These have a touch of gray to them but also can take on colors behind them.  My favorite sequins!

14207753_10153802923923531_4274181975561845747_oI hope you will join in with us for this week’s challenge.  Super fun inspiration from the DT for sure!  Back tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches.  Until then, I hope you have a great start of your week!

My card today is a sample for Lori Craig’s Challenge (DTGD16stampmomma).  I can’t share the details of the challenge but you really need to see the inspiration for this card!  I started by coloring these flowers from Altenew’s Botanical Garden using Chameleon Pens (a technique I learned from my friend Ilina Crouse).  I am completely in love with these flowers!!!  I added them to a white base that I stamped with a sentiment from the July Paper Pumpkin (SU).  Don’t you love this one??  I cut the edge with my Border Builders die from Lil’ Inker Designs.  I added some sequins from my stash.  I love how the brushed gold ones match the Crumb Cake! One of a Kind

One of a Kind published on 2 Comments on One of a Kind

One of a KindI hope you are having a wonderful weekend!  I had some time to stamp during the week and wanted to share this fun little card with you.  I feel like sometimes I get so caught up in techniques and supplies and all the shiny things in stamping that I forget the basics of just stamps and ink.  So today, that is what I’m sharing with you.  A basic and fun card that I made just because it made me happy.

I got this little One of a Kind stamp set from Altenew awhile ago because I simply love the size and style of the flower.  Also, because I feel like this sentiment is timely and perfect for so many things.  After all, we are each one of a kind aren’t we?  It is good to celebrate that!!!  I inked up this little flower using the Colorbox 4-color ink box in the Fall palette.  The ink box is kind of unique in that it has four colors in one box that are meant to go together.  I inked the top of the flower in the purple and the bottom in the green from the box and stamped onto watercolor paper.  Then I pulled some ink with my Zig Brush2O and touched in a little more color.  The sentiment was stamped in the blue from the box.  I cut it out with a stitched rectangle and put it on a Night of Navy base.  Simple, clean and sweet.

I hope you will find some time today to create something because it makes you happy.  You deserve it!  Take care of you because you are unique, special and one of a kind!  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon!

Freshly Made Sketches #244

Jen Timko - FMS244 - Spring DaisiesHappy July to you!!  I hope that you have had a great start to the month.  You may have noticed I have been mostly absent over the last week or so.  Well, I was!  Because I was on vacation!  YAY!!!  My family and I went to the beach for a week and then added onto the vacation with a trip to downtown Washington DC for a baseball game and the big fireworks on the 4th.  The weather was a bit soggy but the game played on and the family had a great time.  Even the fireworks managed to go up despite the low ceilings.  But now I’m home and getting everything back in order.  So I’ll start by being the sketch hostess for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches.

I continued to play with my new Colorbox inks, this time in the Spring color palette.  I thought it would be fun to pull out the little Daisy stamp from Altenew and do a bit of masking to create this little trio of flowers.  Pretty, aren’t they?!  The layering of the colors comes from just stamping off the inks in various degrees to create the shades.  Super simple way to make sure your colors coordinate perfectly!  Speaking of coordinating….aren’t these sequins an awesome match?!    I picked out two from Pretty Pink Posh and one from an old Paper Pumpkin.  The sentiment is from the Skipping Stones Design set Healing Wings.  I cut the stamped layer using my retired Ovals Dies (SU) and then attached it to a White Notecard from SU.

FMS Final 244-001I hope that you enjoy this sketch!  The team must have because their samples this week are incredible!!  I look forward to seeing you in the gallery too!  Now….back to laundry….  And maybe just a bit of stamping too, I hope.  Until next time, I hope you have a great day!

FMS243 - Just for youHappy Wednesday!!  I hope your week is going well.  I have just what you need to make your week keep moving along…a sketch from our lovely resident Artisan Amy O’Neill.  She created a fabulous sketch to get us moving and I just love it!

I wanted to play with some new inks I have from ColorBox and they seemed perfect combined with these images from Altenew’s Botanical Garden.  I embossed the images onto vellum using the Copper Embossing Powder (yep, still obsessed with it) and then colored on the back side with the inks from the Fall color selection of the Premium Dye Inks.  Great colors don’t you think?!  I added a sentiment from Paper Pumpkin (those seem to be my go-to lately, don’t they?) and embossed it with the copper too.  The panel was cut using a Stitched Rectangles Die from Simon Says Stamp.  Clean and simple with minimal layers.  The perfect summer card!

FMS Final 243-001I think you are going to have a lot of fun using this one and I expect the gallery to be really full!  Ok, off to see the rest of the team’s beautiful work.  I hope you’ll join us this week!

Freshly Made Sketches #239

Jen Timko - FMS239 - One of a kind butterflyFreshly Made Sketches has a great sketch for you today!  Just look at what the lovely Cindy Hall dreamed up for us this week!  I know, right?  I love off centered sketches and this one is going to be fun for you all to use!

I kept it pretty simple for today.  I had only a little stamping time yesterday and really wanted to do this sketch justice.  After some playing around with shapes and stamp sets, I settled on this butterfly die.  I think a layer under him might have been nice but he was was already glued down before I considered it, lol.  In any case, I took some Tim Holtz Distress Inks and blended them onto watercolor paper, then cut the butterfly out.  I wanted the panel to have some detail but not distract from the butterfly.  I inked up Dots for Days (retired) with the same ink colors, stamped off and then stamped onto Thick Whisper White.  I cut the panel out with a Stitched Rectangles Die.  The sentiment is from a sweet little set by Altenew called One of a Kind.  A few sequins from Pretty Pink Posh matched perfectly so I just had to add them on!

So I have been in the midst of a flying blitz (lots of 4 day trips) and then had a soccer-palooza weekend.  Tournament play for both of my soccer boys!  To top it off, my oldest turned 13 on Sunday too.  How can that possibly be?! We had a pretty chilled out family day on Monday topped off with his dinner request:  Breakfast for dinner with lots of bacon.  Yep, he is 13!!!  Oh, and of course cake.  Strawberry Applesauce Cake.  YUM!  So blessed to have been home over this long weekend for all of that so it is worth the rest of the flying schedule that was needed to make that happen!  Out again today but a bit of a respite next week where I hope to fit in more stamping!

FMS Final 239-001Just a quick reminder…the new Stampin’ Up Catalog goes live today!  Wow it is fun!  If you want to see it online, just click here:  2016-17  Catalog.  I hope you love the rest of the DTs inspiration as much as I do…fabulous as always!  I’ll be back on Friday with some details about an amazing hop I’ll be participating in on June 5th…but you will want the details early!  Please stop back in to see what it is all about!  Until then, have a great week!

Freshly Made Sketches #238

Freshly Made Sketches #238 published on 7 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #238

FMS238 - BotanicalsI have to admit that this weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches made me think.  Kim Singdahlsen always has the coolest cards and her groupings are one of the reasons.  And this week she gave us a challenge that allows us to try the same idea.  Once I narrowed down that I wanted to used a stamp set (and which one) things got a bit easier for me.

I stamped these pretty images from Altenew’s Botanical Garden set onto watercolor paper and then colored them with my Zig Markers.  These markers allow for such pretty shading super fast!  Then I cut them by hand and started playing around with the arrangement.  I realized that a doily (these are retiring so stock up) was perfect for the sketch and to help ground the flowers a bit.  I used the sentiment from another Altenew set because it seems perfect for many occasions.  I played a little more with the placement and finally got things how I wanted them.  The butterfly is popped up on a Dimensional to add even more emphasis on him.  Finally I added some Basic Pearls.  These seem to be the right touch for the elegant images.

FMS Final 238-001As a reminder, every other week I will have two posts on Wednesday.  This is one of those.  In just a little bit, I’ll be back with my card for The Card Concept this week.  See you in a bit!
