We have a wonderful new sketch for you this week and it comes from the super talented Jen Mitchell! I love her clean style and this sketch gives so many avenues for interpretation! Look no further than the design team’s examples for the variety possible! So many pretty cards! We also welcome Narelle Farrugia and LeAnne Pugliese as guest designers for the month of October.
I thought that it would be fun to use the Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP for a non-Halloween card and I love how this pattern is so great for lots of projects. I had my Day of Gratitude out on the table from yesterday’s project and wanted to use the leaves from it. What pretty leaves they are!! I inked them up in More Mustard and Cherry Cobbler and cut them out. Then I tucked them behind a Basic Gray button and added a sentiment. As I was putting the card together I realized that it seemed a little blah. Out came the Big Shot and the Square Lattice Embossing Folder to add that something extra! I love the masculine feel to these colors!
Make sure you hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see all the inspiration both from the design team and then from the gallery as the week goes on. So many talented designers every week!!
Back to studying today for a big flying checkride (test) that will happen next week. I’ll be back next week with a fun surprise visit from an amazing stamper! Until then, have a great week!

So pretty! I love using Halloween paper for other purposes. 🙂 It works so perfectly here and allows those leaves to shine!
Your card is absolutely beautiful. I saw it in the DT gallery and just had to come over and tell you.
Hey Jennifer – this is a really beautiful card. I love these colours together, they work really well for a man card. I have to tell you that I brought this DSP even though I don’t own a Halloween stamp (Halloween’s not big here in Australia) so I’ll only be using the papers for non-tradional Halloween cards!
Your card is gorgeous. Love the colors, and those leaves are spectacular! In Wisconsin we are having all the leaves changing colors so it is a wonderful fall card.
Hi Jennifer! I love this card! And I think the embossing added the perfect touch! Have a great week!
I love how the leaves pop with their bold colors against the layered grays.
Beautiful card Jen! I love all that grey! Wow! So stunning! The leaves are beautiful and I can’t believe you cut them out!
I never would have thought of these colors for a fall-themed card, but WOW! What a fabulous blend of neutral and colors, pattern and texture. Love, love, love it!
I love the pop of color of the leaves against the grey background!
