It is Wednesday and that means Freshly Made Sketches has a new challenge for you but we also have a surprise cooked up for our dear friend Rita Wright! Yep, a surprise blog hop in her honor. Conveniently enough the sketch this week is hers (we just turned it into this lovely hop badge).
For those of you who don’t know, Rita is pregnant and getting ready to take a leave of absence from our design team. She is a wonderful stamper but an even more wonderful person! The teams of Freshly Made Sketches and The Paper Players have joined together for this hop. You are sure to be wowed and we hope that Rita sees how much we love and respect her for all she does.
For my card I took inspiration from this post from Rita. The fabrics for little Laila’s quilt are so pretty and I thought this paper from Twitterpated DSP and the images from Joie (SAB ’11, French version) were perfect. Rita, I wish you all the joy that you and your family so richly deserve. Hugs to you, my friend!
If you have been hopping around already, you probably came over from Jen Mitchell at I Create. The next blog on the list is Kathy Tanner at Stamping Still. Here are all the participants:
- Anne Marie Hile
- Ann Schach
- Cindy Hall
- Erna Logtenberg
- Jen Mitchell
- Jennifer Timko (here)
- Kathy Tanner
- LeAnne Pugliese
- Lesley Croghan
- Linda Callahan
- Nance Leedy
- Tui Nathan
- Tara Murphy Bourgoin
We have a team blog where we post our pictures and we had to keep the secret so the Freshly Made Sketches team also designed “decoy” cards so that Rita wouldn’t get suspicious. We have all been so excited about the big day on this! Here is my other version of the sketch:
I am so thrilled to be a part of this little party in Rita’s honor. Make sure you drop by Rita’s Creations and leave her a note. You can be a part of the fun too!

So sweet of you to use her colors on this beautifully elegant card.
There is something about the French language – the words are so pretty~! Rita will love these colors as well! Very pretty card!
What a great idea to use Rita’s fabric as inspiration for her card! I love all the details!
Jen, this is gorgeous. You know I love the colors! 🙂 The little butterfly is the perfect accent; that set is one of my favorites that I’ve stashed away to keep. I still can’t believe you guys pulled this off; I had no idea!!!
Both are beautiful cards.
Jennifer, both of your cards are just beautiful! Love the yellow and gray color combo and the soft dimension from the butterfly on Rita’s card and the clean design on your “decoy” card. What a fun surprise! 🙂
Aw! How sweet to use Laila’s colors! The butterfly is the perfect touch!
What a sweet idea!! Both of your cards are great, but the first card is so sweet and lovely!!
Amazing idea to use her colours, I agree with Linda, the french sentiment is perfect! So pretty.
Such a sweet surprise for Rita! Very clever to use the fabric for inspiration. I love both cards, too!
I liked both cards, you did great job.
Both of your creations are marvellous, Jennifer. I really like the grey one – it’s simple and rich!
What a beautiful card. And how sweet that you were inspired by Laila’s quilt fabric. And I love that you used a French sentiment. So sophisticated!
Love that sweet butterfly, and the yellow and gray is gorgeous. Wonderful card!
I love this card … love your inspiration too, those colours are gorgeous as is the french sentiment …. perfection!!!
Gorgeous cards Jennifer! How creative to use the french version of that stamp set and your take on the inspiration fabric is spot on! Love the decoy card too and how the dsp repeats the pattern on the vase–adorable! So glad to be on the hop with you!
Colours are great .Love the butterfly.x
I love that french sentiment Jennifer. It looks absolutely gorgeous the way you’ve coloured it. The butterfly is a beautiful addition and the colours are so striking. Simply beautiful.
Both cards are lovely, but I really like your colour combo on the first one. Especially since I find yellow so hard to work with!
Congratulations Rita!
Cheers, Karen
Love this beautiful card you made for Rita and your sweet decoy too!!
Both cards are unique in their own style and colors, but lately I’m growing very fond of yellow and black! I love the clean lines on both cards, and I’m sure Rita enjoyed them too 🙂
Both cards are so pretty! Love the completely different looks with the color combos you chose for each card.
