FMS Final 146-001

Welcome back for another Freshly Made Sketches card!  Amy O’Neill is our hostess this week.  She is an incredible stamper…I always love her style and color combinations…so no surprise that she created a fun sketch too!

FMS146 - Layered Flower

I kept this one pretty clean today and focused on the “Flower” product suite.  I stamped the flowers from Flower Patch in Midnight Muse (ret), Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon and Pumpkin Pie.  Not exactly the colors from the Flowerpot DSP but close.  The paper prints are so pretty that I wanted them to shine in this so I chose the polka dots and added in a couple of strips of coordinating patterns.  The Flower Fair Framelits keep this simple because they do all the cutting for you!  Love that!  A white button and some Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine to finish it off.  This is one that is easy to make in multiples and would made a cute set!  I let off the sentiment and will just add one inside when I’m ready to use it.

There is a fantastic variety over at the challenge today!  The team has created some beautiful work!  Don’t forget to join in and let Amy know how much you appreciate this one!

Back this weekend with another set of projects I created as a Display Stamper.  If you want to catch up with all that has been posted, we have a Pinterest board dedicated to the projects created for Convention by the Display Stamper group.

Welcome to the fourth Artisan Wednesday Wow hop of our team’s last month! It is so hard to believe that this year is almost over. If you just came over from the amazing Jeanna, welcome to the next stop. If you are starting here, just continue around using the next buttons until you get back to me.

AWW Jul - Make a Wish

So we are closing in on the end of my year as a member of the Artisan Design Team 2013.  Wow….what an experience this has been.  I have been a part of something really special.  Something that doesn’t always come around and something that you have to just take in and appreciate.  The bonds I have made with this year’s team are more than I could have ever imagined.  But more than that, I have been able to form friendships with more stampers and get to see behind the curtain a bit at Stampin’ Up!  You know what?  It has made me love and value this company even more.

So, this card.  The team agreed that we HAD to do a swap for Convention.  Yeah…no pressure!  How does one make a swap for 9 of the most talented stampers I know?  I tried all kinds of things but finally just came to this.  A clean card in one of my favorite colors.  The new Stars Framelits are such fun and lead to so many cool ideas.  I chose to make another shaker card (I think I’m on a kick with these).  I cut out star from the White Vellum Card Stock and put two together with the 2013-15 In Color Sequins inside.  Then I sewed them together.  After forming the little packets, I cut another star out of the Crumb Cake layer.  I stamped with Kinda Eclectic and distressed then Sponged with Soft Suede ink.  I created my sentiment with the Alphabet Rotary Stamp.  This thing is SERIOUSLY cool.  You need one.  Yes you do.  Just get it.  I clipped the ends of the sentiment panel with my Banner Punch and distressed again.  The main panel is up on Dimensionals and I attached the shaker packet using the new Fast Fuse Adhesive.  That stuff is strong and things won’t budge…and it is clear.  So no seeing through the doubled vellum of the star packet.  Finally I attached some more of the sequins using the Multipurpose Glue.  This takes a little patience but I love the result.  Maybe not a quick and easy card but these girls are so worth the time!  Back to the sentiment for a bit.  I chose this (did I mention how cool it is that you can say what you want with that stamp?) because of the obvious “wishing on a star”.  But also because a little over a year ago, I took a leap of faith and made a wish.  And it came true.  Bigger and better than even I could have expected!

Okay, off to go visit the awesome Mercedes Weber (who, by the way is a 2014-15 Artisan Design Team member….the first world wide team).  I can’t wait for you to see what she has created! Make sure you hop around the whole loop to take a look at beautiful creations by the whole team…you’ll be happy you did!

The day is finally here!  I can start sharing projects I created for the display boards at Stampin’ Up’s Annual Convention in Salt Lake City.  While I was not able to go this year (and yes, I am really missing out on lots of fun), at least some of my work is there.  So without further ado…I introduce to you…..Seasonally Scattered!

Seasonally Scattered - Take out box

Today I am sharing a group of projects all made with this fun stamp and the suite of gold products that Stampin’ Up has available.  While this stamp won’t be available for customers until August 28th, the rest of the products are in the new 2014-15 Catalog.  This takeout box is just the same as last week’s Artisan Team project.  I printed the template onto the back side and cut it out of Gold Soiree DSP.  Super easy.  But guess what, in the new Holiday Catalog, there are new (and even EASIER) box options for DSP (takeout boxes, a box punchboard, and more!).  Yep…no excuses not to create boxes with your DSP!  I stamped with Gold Encore Ink onto White Vellum Card Stock and then embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I used my Banners Framelits to cut it into a tag.  Using Gold Foil, I cut a bigger banner with the framelits and then hand cut a little one out of Fancy Foil Designer Vellum.  I took a Vintage Faceted Button and inked it up then embossed it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder too.  (Be careful on that one…trust me)  I tied some Gold Sequin Trim around the box and then added on the button tied with Gold Metallic Baker’s Twine.  Cute, shiny and fun!

Seasonally Scattered - Gold Love

Next up a “sister” card to the box.  I created the image panel the same way as the tag above.  I layered it onto a Gold Foil panel and wrapped the narrow gold pieces around the back to help hide glue and keep it together (it is all about concealing with Vellum).  Then I tied up the Vintage Faceted Button with Baker’s Twine again and added it to the sequin trim.  The main panel is embossed with Decorative Dots.  Perfect card to go with your little gift!

Seasonally Scattered - Merry Scrapbook

Finally a fun scrapbook page.  Yes, it is a shaker page.  Because why not?!  I stamped the sentiment in gold and embossed again.  Using an 8″ x 8″ base of Soft Suede Card Stock, I added a strip of Gold Soiree DSP  Then attached the vellum panel but starting to sew around the edges.  Before finishing I added some sequins loosened from the Gold Sequin Trim and finished the pocket part of the page.  I cut a frame from Whisper White and “distressed” it with gold ink and embossing then added some extra stitching.  I added a picture of my boys that I had edited in My Digital Studio and threw on a little more of the sequin trim.  I love this page.  I had a hard time sending it in.  Good thing it isn’t too hard to duplicate!

Now for more info on display stamping.  While we were all hard at work making our samples, this amazing group of stampers cheered on each other’s progress.  We eventually decided to create a group Pinterest page so that you could see all this stamping goodness in one place.  We will use the logo above (at the top of my post…linked to the page too) to help you find us and also link our work to the page as we post on our blogs.  I recommend you just follow that board.  Seriously.  You are going to be in awe!!

I’ll be back soon with more projects and stay tuned for my last two weeks of Artisan team work. Until then…see you soon and happy stamping!

Freshly Made Sketches #145

FMS Final 145-001

You all know Narelle as the queen of fussy cutting but she is also amazing at creating sketches!  Just take a look at what she has for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!!  Yeah, I know….fabulous!  So fabulous that it took me a bit to narrow down all the ideas I had.

FMS145 - Blended Elements

Basically the decision was made for me when I picked up this already colored flower that I had made while my mom was visiting.  I was showing her all the cool stuff you can do with Blendabilities and we use this retired Elements of Style stamp to play with.  She chose it from my BOGO offerings after she made an order (for Blendabilities, of course).  The depth of color from these markers really is fantastic!  And yes, you can use them on other than White/Vanilla paper.  You have to watch the bleed a little because the paper weave is looser but it is easy enough to get the feel for it!  I combined it with the Dictionary Background Stamp after cutting my colored image out with the Ovals Framelits.  All I had to do was add on some retired Naturals Ribbon and the new Venetian Crochet Trim (LOVE this trim!!).  I tied a Very Vintage Button with some Linen Thread and called it done.  YAY…..I actually used a panel from my “to-make” pile!  Piece by piece I’m trying to catch up!

So this weekend I can actually start posting some of my projects from display stamping but where should I start??  With a brand new set from the Holiday Catalog (being released to demos later this week) OR with Kinda Eclectic OR with Amazing Birthday??  I’d love to know what YOU want to see first so let me know!

I hope your week is great!  Until this weekend….have a great rest of your week!

AWW Jul - Blooming Takeout Box

So what to make for you all this week to showcase some of the latest fun stuff from my July box?  Well, how about a tag made with the oh so adorable Flower Patch stamp set and a coordinating take out box made with the Flowerpot DSP?  Yep…I thought you might like that!  I found a mini takeout box template when working on my Display Stamper projects for Convention.  All I had to do was print it on my DSP and cut it out (yes, by hand…no e-cutter here).  But it is quick and creates such a fun box that the cutting really is ok.  Really!  I created a tag using Whisper White and the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch along with the Corner Punch.  Then all I had to do was attach flowers that had been stamped and cut out.  Yes….these were also by hand but there are convenient framelits to make it way easier if you want!  What better way to attach the tag but with this fabulous little clothespin from the 2014-2016 In Color Clothespins collection.  I’m completed addicted to them!!!!  Just wait until I can share more after Convention starts!!  One more look at this tag because it would be equally cute on any of Stampin’ Up’s boxes or bags!

AWW Jul - Blooming Tag

I wrapped up the box with a little bit of Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine and the packaging is complete. Super easy, super cute and sure to make someone’s day!

Well, the trek to the annual Stampin’ Up Convention in Salt Lake City has begun.  Sadly, I won’t be there this year since I’ll be flying.  But my Stampin’ Up friends will be having a ball and sending me updates so I’ll try to share any big news with you while I’m out on the road.  The good news…I’ll be able to start sharing all the projects I made as a display stamper!  Look for that to begin this weekend.

Okay, off to go visit the awesome Mercedes Weber. I can’t wait for you to see what she has created! Make sure you hop around the whole loop to take a look at beautiful creations by the whole team…you’ll be happy you did!

FMS Final 144-001

Another week, another amazing sketch from Freshly Made Sketches!  This time, our fabulous layout is from the oh so cool Karren Johnson.  Thank goodness I found it fast to use because I have been short on time this week.  I was out on a 4 day trip over the long weekend and then the boys had a swim meet on Monday.  If you have ever been to a swim meet, you know that means no time for stamping.  Yesterday the family and I went out adventuring…something we haven’t done enough of this summer.  So….a quick card it is for you today!

FMS144 - Thankful for youI took a leap with my interpretation of the sketch and instead of a panel, I chose to stencil on some stars with the new Hearts & Stars Masks.  These are so easy to use and are such fun too.  I used Lost Lagoon (a new In Color) and a Sponge Dauber.  For the banner, I pulled out Amazing Birthday and stamped Daffodil Delight onto White Vellum Card Stock and then embossed with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Then I stamped the banner sentiment with Lagoon again.  A run through the Big Shot with the Banners Framelits and the two banners were done.  I added on a button tied with the new Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine (I find it goes with all the yellows) and done.  Yep….quick.  But still really fun too.

The team has created some amazing cards.  A big variety which I always love!  Make sure you go check out all the great creations!

I’m in a big push to finish some swaps for next week’s Stampin’ Up Convention.  I’m not able to go this year but I am still swapping with some fabulous stampers who are kind enough to let me in with them!  Kind of makes me feel like I’m not missing as much.  As soon as Convention starts I will have tons to share!  The swaps, my Display Board samples….can’t wait!  Hope you week is going great.  See you soon!

AWW Jul - Happy Shaker Card

I thought it would be fun to focus on the new Little Letters Thinlits today!  They are great for punching out letters for your projects, of course.  But they are also wonderful when use in the negative version.  Just line them up to create a word and roll through your Big Shot.  For this one, I rolled just one “P” through and then created the rest of the word with a second roll.  I wanted this to be a shaker card with a masculine flair so I kept to the Black/Vanilla colors except for the touch of gold from the sequins.  To create the shaker, I first backed the “HAPPY” piece with a Window Sheet. Then using the edges from my Dimensionals page, I created a rectangle just a bit bigger than the words and put in a bunch of sequins pulled off the Gold Sequin Trim.  I added the Basic Black backing and the shaker is done.  Easy!  I love the numbers print from Typeset DSP and it seemed to be made for a birthday card!  All I needed was a few extra sequins and I think I created a nice masculine card?  What to you think?

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July! published on No Comments on Happy 4th of July!

Just a quick post to wish a happy Independence Day to all of my US readers!  I hope that wherever you are celebrating, you have a fun and safe holiday!  I know that some of you have been seeing nature’s fireworks over the last few days (I’m in Newark unplanned right now because of some of those!) but I hope that you get to enjoy the brightly colored ones too!

Jun MPP WreathA quick share on a project I made with June’s Paper Pumpkin kit.  I held a Paper Pumpkin Fun Night for my local subscribers and we worked together to make the cute little pinwheels.  As we were creating, we discussed fun ways to use them.  I pulled out this wreath that was already wrapped with burlap ribbon and started placing the pinwheels and thought it was coming together.  My mom (who was in town visiting) suggested some red ribbon.  So I added this stitched ribbon (retired).  I thought a great party idea would be to attach the pinwheels to canning jars and use them for drinks/decorations.

image copySee how she put names on each one?  Cool, huh?!  She used my Alphabet Rotary Stamp to personalize them!! (Sorry for the picture quality….taken with my phone)

imageI took some of mine and made this cute little centerpiece.

What will the next Paper Pumpkin hold??  I can wait to see!!  If you would like to try it out, you can become a monthly subscriber (see link in my sidebar) or you can try it for a prepaid period of time.  Click the image below to check it out!

Freshly Made Sketches #143

Freshly Made Sketches #143 published on 6 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #143

FMS Final 143-001Oh, do we have a fun one for you this week at Freshly Made Sketches!!  The oh so creative Cindy Lovell is our hostess this week so it is no wonder the sketch is cool!  And speaking of cool….did you hear the news??!!  Blendabilities are officially available for order!!!  Yes, these wonderful markers can now be yours!  There are six colors available plus the skin tones, color lifter and the coordinating Memento Black Ink.  To celebrate, I’m sharing this with you.

FMS143- Coastal BloomI have a confession to make.  I did not color this whole flower.  I was showing my mom the new markers last week during her visit and my 8 year old son want to color too.  Who can say no to that?!  Not me!!  So he chose his colors (Coastal Cabana) and started a few petals at a time like I taught him.  Being an 8 yo boy, he lost interest about halfway through the flower and told me that I could finish it, lol.  But can you tell my coloring from his….I can’t!  Still not sure about these fun markers or how to use them?  Check out this section of tutorials from Stampin’ Up on YouTube:

Blendabilities Tutorials from Stampin’ Up!

There are lots of ways to blend and many are just personal preference.  Just get the markers and start experimenting.  You’ll be so happy you did!  Just so you know, all the colors are not available yet but they are coming.  Demos get to order some more colors now and customers will be able to on August 1.  Need another reason to become a demo now?  I didn’t think so, LOL.  I’d love to have you join my team if you are interested!

Ok…back to the card.  Sorry to digress but the news was too good not to share.  After coloring the flower, I cut it out and went back around the cut edges with my Basic Black Marker to clean up cutting variations (make sure you come from behind the image).  For the sketch I backed the flower with a Tea Lace Doily and added a Bermuda Bay panel and some of the new Hello Honey Stitched Satin Ribbon.  I was out of Curry buttons but no fear, Blendabilities are here!  I took a So Saffron button and colored it with my darker marker from the Daffodil Delight set and voila!  A matching button.  More blendies coloring on the pearls to use as accents.  The sentiment is from the always awesome Teeny Tiny Wishes!

The team has a fabulous variety this week so I hope you’ll go visit them and thank them for the inspiration!  Hoping to be back later this week with one more post.  Hoping I’ll get a little more creating done later today.  Until then….have a fabulous day!

AWW Jul - Celebrate Stars

Well, it may seem like an obvious project but this card just called out to be made!  Using the new  Stars Framelits with the updated Silver Glimmer Paper is the perfect combination!  I cut out the two larger stars by first using the smaller framelit and then placing the larger one around the cut out and cutting again.  I left one silver and colored the other using my Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker.  Then, using my star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, I punched out the smallest star and colored it Night of Navy.  The Large Scallop Edgelit created the border piece.  I stamped the sentiment from Fabulous Four after inking just the “Celebrate” part with my marker.  Finally I added on some Basic Rhinestons that had been colored with Blendabilities.

This is the perfect card for Independence Day or any other patriotic event!  It could even be used for a summer party along with the pinwheels from the latest Paper Pumpkin kit!
