Happy September!

Happy September! published on No Comments on Happy September!

Happy September everyone!  I have to say that I love September with the turning of leaves and the crisp air that seems to come in.  Now Stampin’ Up has made it even better with a new product and a new special.

Envelope Punch Board

b1_EnvelopePunch_demo_aug1513_NA

  • It creates totally customizable envelopes in up to 66 different sizes (not to mention a million different color and pattern options depending on the paper you want to use). Even tried and true envelope sizes will only take you moments to create!
  • It’s super easy to use –  It looks intimidating at first glance, but when you see that all you have to do is measure for the first punch and from there you just turn and score you’ll go crazy (in a good way).
  • It’s small and lightweight –  It’s small and light enough that you could use it while watching a soccer match, at a park, at a friend’s for craft night-anywhere.
  • It even has a slick scoring tool as well as a punch that lets you create rounded corners on your envelopes.
  • It’s easy to keep it all together; the stylus storage compartment and two punches are designed into the tool so you don’t have a bunch of little pieces to keep track of (even the instructions are printed right on the tool so you won’t lose them!).
  • The price is terrific-especially for a tool that does so much!

Freshly Made Sketches #101

Freshly Made Sketches #101 published on 8 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #101

FMS Final 101-001Whew, was last week exciting at Freshly Made Sketches!!!  129 entries, guest designers and we had such fun.  Thanks to all of you who participated!!  We are back to “work” this week with a great sketch from Linda Callahan.  She always has an eye for the greatest details so it is no surprise that this layout leaves room for lots of interpretations.

FMS101 - Halloween HelloI thought it would be fun to use the Witches’ Brew DSP and show off the fantastic patterns.  I love the text print and knew I wanted to start there and then the spider web pattern called out to be put on the vertical panel.  Not to be outdone, the chalkboard print and skull/crossbones decided to get in on the act and they are topped off with a sentiment from Halloween Hello (appropriately enough).  All that was needed to finish it off was some buttons.  Two of these are retired (more new ones coming soon!!) but they are perfect here.

I have to admit that I don’t usually do much for Halloween but this paper has inspired me.  The prints are really fun and they coordinate with other products from the Holiday Catalog so well (of course).

Now, off to the challenge site to see everyone else’s projects!  You are going to love them! Don’t forget to check out my other post from today.  Remember, there will be two every Wednesday (for subscribers…they will come in the same email).  Thanks for stopping in today!  See you again soon!

Its Artisan Wednesday Wow time!  The Stampin’ Up Artisan Design Team is back with more creative inspiration.  I’m finding that I just can’t wait to see what the team has made each week (we don’t share until the hop goes up)!!  I hope you are enjoying the projects from the new team.  For those of you coming over from Jeanna, I’m sure you agree that her work is fantastic.

AWW - Modern Flower

For my last August project for you (really, already??!!) I chose to focus on the Modern Medley DSP.  I love the pop you get from the Basic Black and Very Vanilla, and all the designs in this paper are so wonderful!  I paired it with the Gingham Garden Washi Tape. Aren’t these patterns great together?!  I ran a strip of the tape down some Very Vanilla card stock and cut the polka dot panel to match the remaining measurements.  Then I took some of the Creped Filter Paper and cut these flowers using my Big Shot and the Fun Flowers Bigz Die.  After brayering on Daffodil Delight ink, I scrunched them up a bit and sewed on a little black button from the Neutrals Designer Buttons using black thread.  I wrapped a bit more of the thread around the polka dot panel to add a little detail.  Now for the sentiment.  I put tape on a Very Vanilla strip the same width as this pattern, then cut the flag end.  I stamped with Basic Black Ink using my Stampin’ Write Marker to capture only this sentiment from Label Love.  When you stamp like this on the Washi Tape, it does not dry the same as on paper so you can emboss it.  That’s what I did with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and my Heat Tool.  The whole polka dot layer is popped up on Dimensionals.

I hope you like my Polka Dots and Plaid card today.  Now you get to go see what Mercedes made this week.  You know it will be great!

Hawaii Ink Holiday Hop-001

I am so excited to be in the Holiday Catalog edition of the Hawaii Ink Blog Hop!!  As many of you already know, Hawaii Ink is my upline group and they are so amazing!  Our team leader, the extraordinary Lisa Curcio, is a Founder’s Circle member this year.  Our group spans the world and many of us are, or have been, associated with the military.  We are highlighting the fun new things in the Holiday Catalog and what fun things there are!  If you have have already been on the hop, you have come over from Gina Mustain.  Didn’t you love her work?!

Hawaii Ink Holiday Hop - Halloween

I thought it would be fun to show you some of the great Halloween products in the catalog.  I started with the Halloween Banner Simply Created Accessory Kit to create this fun rosette.  But Jennifer, you ask…it seems smaller than it looks in the catalog.  Why yes it is!  I took the existing rosette and simply cut it in half length wise to create a smaller one (well, actually TWO, but one for the card).  It makes it just the right size for this 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ card.  The Pumpkin Pie circle and the ribbons are in the Accessory Kit too!  I paired this with the awesome designs from Witches’ Brew DSP.  They are a great match!  The smallest circle is cut from the DSP print and then I stamped on the skull and crossbones from Toil & Trouble using Versamark.  I added some Heat and Stick Powder and finished with this awesome Black Stampin’ Glitter.

These banner kits are so versatile and I love that they can be used for all sorts of projects!  Now I know you are ready to see more ideas so on with the hop.  Jo Anne Waterhouse has a fantastic project for you!

Thanks so much for stopping in today.  I look forward to seeing you again Wednesday with my latest Artisan Wednesday Wow and a new Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.

Sketch 1-1

It’s here!!!!  Sketch #100!!  We are so excited over at Freshly Made Sketches!!  We have all kinds of fun things for you.  First…the sketch.  The very first Queen of Clean is now a design team member – the awesome Cindy Hall!  She thought it would be fun to go back to the very first sketch for this one and we all agreed!  Next…the prizes.  Yes, we have blog candy to give away.  See the challenge site for the details!  Finally…returning designers.  Many of our talented designers from the past have come back to celebrate with us.  Links to their cards are on the site.

FMS100 - Stylish ChristmasI loved this sketch the first time I saw it so I was really happy to see it return!  I thought I would turn it into a Christmas card using the Merry Little Christmas stamp set.  I paired it with the Season of Style Paper Stack and some Season of Style Washi Tape.  Where is the tape??  The horizontal panel!  I just laid down two pieces to create this pretty textured element.  I remain in love with the new buttons and thought they would be good here.  They are tied up with Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine.  Now I suspect that stamped panel looks familiar.  Yes, it is pretty much the same as my FMS card from a few weeks ago.  When I was making swaps I somehow ended up with one extra and held onto it “just in case”.  Surely I’m not the only one who does that, right?!  What do you know, it seemed perfect here!

This is definitely a bit different from my card entered for the first sketch.  I remember seeing this challenge concept and was so excited.  Finally, my stamping style had a definition and a challenge to match!!  To Lesley Croghan and the rest of this extraordinary team, thank you for all you do.  I am privileged to be a part of this group and every week I am inspired and awed by their talent!!

Now, off to Freshly Made Sketches to see all there is to see!  Can’t wait to see what you create this week!

Blog Hop Button 13-011Welcome to the Artisan Wednesday Wow for this week!  I hope you are enjoying our August projects.  If you have popped over from Jeanna, I know you loved her creation.  If not, just follow us around using the Next buttons at the bottom of our posts.

AWW Aug - Epic Textured Butterfly

My card for today focuses on the amazing Epic Day DSP.  I loved it from the minute I saw it and was so happy to see more in my August Artisan box!  I decided to use some little pieces that had been sitting around waiting for a home…the butterflies.  I cut the big one out of a Stampin’ Up box and the little one from a piece of burlap, both using the Beautiful Butterflies Die.  When I layered them together, they made me very happy!  And I thought they were perfect for the feel of the DSP.  I stamped some Naturals Ivory paper with the Dictionary background stamp using Crumb Cake ink and cut out an oval with the Ovals Framelits.  The little measuring tape is part of the DSP too.

I’ll be back later with my Freshly Made Sketches post.  Just remember that it is challenge #100….you don’t want to miss it!!

Now on with the hop!  Mercedes is ready to wow you again!

Artisan Facebook Friday

Artisan Facebook Friday published on 8 Comments on Artisan Facebook Friday

Welcome to a bonus edition of the Artisan weekly hop!  Because of the timeline for August, we need to add in an extra day to be able to show you all our projects.  Up for today, the Facebook projects shown on the Stampin’ Up Facebook page.  As usual, I know that Jeanna has blown you away with her awesomeness!  If you are starting here, just hop around using the next buttons at the bottom of our posts.

Aug FB - Jennifer - Season of Style Tree Box

I thought it would be fun to combine these awesome Tag a Bag Gift Boxes with the Season of Style Washi Tape to create an easy and fun holiday packaging idea.  I started by cutting out the triangles with the Big Shot using my Perfect Pennants Die.  What are they made of?  The new Coaster Board!!  And yes, it is really fabulous to use!  I love that it has a little more “oomph” which makes it perfect for creating these trees.    Then all I had to do was add the Washi Tape.

Aug FB - Jennifer - Tree Closeup

Just look at how the Old Olive pattern on the tape lines up when you use it all by itself.  Cool, huh?  I had two trees that were the same but it seemed to be missing something so I created another one that use all of the patterns from this set of Washi Tape.  That did it for me!  I added in another triangle made from Naturals Ivory card stock behind the Washi Tape triangle to tidy up the back.  Because I’m me (and I LOVE a bow), I added in little “fork” bows (triple wrap) to the top of the trees.  They make me so happy!!  To create a belly band for the box, I embossed some Cherry Cobbler card stock with the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder.  I did have to emboss twice to get the whole piece done.  Finally a little sentiment from Oh, Goodie stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink.  Now as I looked at the box, it seemed to need another something so I wrapped around some more Washi Tape near the top.  I love that I can make these ahead and have them all ready to fill with wonderful treats for the holidays.

And hey, what do you know…triangles again!  I am loving them!  Linking this to the Moxie Fab Trendy Triangles Challenge.

I hope you enjoy this project as much as I did!  For my local stampers this will be the first one we make at my Artisan Class in September!  Now time to get on with the hop.  The lovely Mercedes Weber is next and you will love what she has created.

FMS Final 99-001

I am so glad you are here for the second post of the day!  From now on, you can expect two posts from me every Wednesday.  My Artisan Wednesday Wow post and my Freshly Made Sketches post.  So Wednesday is REALLY going to be an awesome stamping day!!  Today’s challenge from Freshly Made Sketches is from the lovely and awesome Rita Wright.  I just know you are all going to have fun with it!!

FMS99 - Alien birthdayI needed a birthday card this week and this sketch was so perfect to use!  I thought that using my Hexagon Punch to create little windows for the aliens from Blast Off would be fun.  Let’s face it, these little aliens are just so adorable!  And perfect for a 7 yo little boy.  I punched the hexagons and then stamped the aliens on separate paper so I could position them.  I added the scallop for a little pop of extra color and the sentiment is from the same set.  To make sure the hexagons lined up just right, I drew a light pencil line on the back of the card stock and used it as a guide for punching.

The team has created some awesome cards this week and I know you will appreciate them as much as I do.  Now you may notice that this is challenge #99.  Hmmm….what do you want to bet that we have some AWESOME stuff lined up for sketch #100 next week!!  *smile*  We can’t wait to see what you create for this week and then make sure you come back for the fun next week!

Thanks for stopping in for two posts today!  I’ll be back on Friday night (Saturday for e-mail followers) with an extra Artisan treat!  See you then!

Artisan Wednesday Wow – Triangles

Artisan Wednesday Wow – Triangles published on 11 Comments on Artisan Wednesday Wow – Triangles

Blog Hop Button 13-011Welcome to my first Artisan Wednesday Wow post as a new member of the Artisan Design Team 2013!  You can expect to start getting two posts from me on Wednesdays –  my normal Freshly Made Sketches card and now an Artisan Wednesday Wow project.  Every Wednesday the whole team will be posting inspiration for you in the form of a blog hop.  Ever since I got my first box of goodies from Stampin’ Up I have been looking forward to this!  Didn’t you love Jeanna’s project??

AWW Aug - Undefined Triangles

I thought that the perfect way to start was by showing you a new product, Undefined.  What is Undefined?  It is a stamp carving set where you can design anything you want.  How awesome is that??!!  Now I had to decide what to carve.  I decided to start pretty simple and use a basic shape.  After consulting with my 10 year old son, we opted for a cool triangle since they are so on trend.  I drew this shape and he told me that one side should be opened up.  Smart boy!!  I traced it that way onto some paper with a pencil and then laid the paper onto the stamp to transfer it.  Then we started carving.  Here is the result:

Undefined Triangle StampOk, it isn’t cleaned off very well here.  My son has been using it to stamp on all kinds of things (yes, I will have pictures to show you in the future).  I also made a second stamp (another shape) and left the basic rubber in more of a rectangle shape around the stamp, carving away the edges instead of cutting them off.  This is so much fun because you can really make it how you like!

For my card, I stamped the triangles in Soft Sky, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight onto Naturals Ivory card stock and cut them out.  I stamped the sentiment from Four You (love this font) and added some details from Gorgeous Grunge.  Then I popped up the triangles on Dimensionals and added some Basic Pearls.

Remember when I said the triangles were trendy?  Well,  Moxie Fab World has a Trendy Triangles Challenge so I am going to link this up there.

Now on with the hop.  I know you will love Mercedes’ project today (and of course the ones from the rest of the team!).  See you later today with my Freshly Made Sketches post.
