Newton’s Nook Designs and Xyron Inspiration Week published on 21 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs and Xyron Inspiration Week

Welcome back for a special post today.  I’m so excited to share that Newton’s Nook Designs and Xyron have partnered for an amazing inspiration week.  Each day this week there are fresh ideas using Newton’s Nook Designs stamps and Xyron adhesives on both the NND blog and the Xyron Facebook page.Toucan Do It by Jen Timko | Toucan Party Stamps and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Window Card, Xyron Permanent Mega Runner, Copic Coloring, Tutorial, Window CardAs I thought about how to best show you both the stamps and the adhesive, I realized that a window card would be perfect for both!  I chose the Toucan Party stamp set (it really is fun, don’t you think?!) and created this fun window that depends on the strength of a good permanent adhesive.  I colored the images using Copic markers to coordinate with this Color Theory DSP from Stampin’ Up.  Want to see the inside?

Jen Timko - Pottery Inspired FloralsI am thrilled to finally share with you that I have been working on a Product Review for Splitcoaststampers over the last few weeks.  I’m sure you already know that Splitcoaststampers is always on the leading edge in looking for the latest and greatest in products, helping put focus on talented designers and a one-stop-shop for inspiration and information!  What a privilege it is to get the call about doing a review for something new!

For this round I am reviewing a new ink offering from Clearsnap called the Colorbox 4-Color Premium Dye Ink.  It configures a color family of inks all into one box to make your stamping convenient and allow you to have perfectly coordinated colors with simply one box.  Hop right over to the Product Focus page and you can see all the reviews and projects from the whole Product Review Team!

For my project today, I used the Summer palette’s blue to create this pretty card.  I was inspired by a cool piece of pottery I saw on Pinterest that reminded me of the Detailed Floral Thinlets (picture below).  I just had to see if I could mimic the look.  Here is the video tutorial showing you the how-to:

FMS223 - Blooming WatercolorI am so happy to be back today with this awesome new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  Our resident Artisan, Amy O’Neill, has created a super one for us this week.  You will see the team has some cool interpretations and I think you will have fun with this one.

I continued on my efforts to color as much as possible for The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge.  I was very inspired by the incredible Dawn Woleslagle of WPlus9 and wanted to try her technique for creating a watercolor look using stamps.  She is a true artist but I simplified her method a bit to make these little flowers.  I have a video to show you the details.

FMS Final 223-001I hope you have a great time playing along with us this week!  Let me know what you think about the technique and tutorial, too.  I’m working this week but brought along some coloring to do.  With any luck, you’ll see the results in a card soon (or maybe on Instagram even sooner).  Until then…have a great day!  Thanks for stopping in!

You're in my ThoughtsSo I created a quick video to show you the basics of my Copic coloring.  I will apologize now….some of the video quality is not what I would want but I was trying out creating videos with my IPhone for the first time and clearly have some things to work out.  In any case, you can see the fundamentals and I hope you will give this a try!!

FMS212 - Hydrandgeas

As promised, I have a fun card to share with you today plus a video.  We have this super sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches from the queen of layers, Narelle.  She makes layering look effortless and always elegant!  As for me….it wasn’t working.  So I took a step back and simply layered the images instead.  I hope she doesn’t mind too much.  Here is the how to on my card:

I’m still in Denver taking my check ride (3 days of fun in the simulator) but I did get to have coffee with the amazing Kim Singdahlsen from the team.  I tell you what, it made facing all those engine out approaches much more tolerable!!  *smile*

Ok….back to studying.  I hope you enjoy the video and this fun sketch.  Go check out all the inspiration from the team, of course, too!  See you again Friday with another fun card!

Jen Timko - FMS210 - October Flower

So guess what we have for you today at Freshly Made Sketches!!  Just look at this awesome sketch.  So cool and creative….just like Cindy Lovell who designed this one for us!  The fun trio plus the vertical sentiment makes for fun options.

I used the stamp set from the latest Paper Pumpkin (October) called Blissful Bouquet.  The images and sentiments are fabulous!  I colored these with Zig Clean Color Markers to create these fall flowers.  I made a video to show you how easy it is to color these flowers.

Misti - Snowflakes

Today I’m continuing with my last card for the Product Review of the Misti at Splitcoaststampers.  I wanted to demonstrate how this stamp positioner is different than any other tool out there.  Take  look!

A direct link to the video is HERE.

Most of the how-to details are in the video so I’ll let you watch how I made it there.  I did make a mistake in the name of the stamp set in the video (because I actually had the mentioned stamp on my table too).  It is Festive Flurry, also retired.

Want to learn more about the new configuration for the Misti?  Hop right over to the Product Focus page and you can see all the reviews and projects from the whole Product Review Team!

I hope that you have enjoyed these Misti projects!  I will be back next week with some new projects I’ve been working on.  Until then, thanks so much for stopping in!

Peace & Joy

I am so excited to share with you today.  I got to stamp with some friends over the weekend and it was so much fun.  I even had a new stamper join in.  Four cards, Jen style, and she totally kept up with us!!  This was our technique card of the class and we had more fun with it.  This background is so spectacular and yet SOOO easy.  Really!  Trust me.  Ok….I thought you might not believe me so I made a video.

If it doesn’t show correctly in your email, click here:  Peace & Joy Tutorial

I saw this cool technique last week as shown by the oh so talented Jennifer McGuire.  She used a different medium and I wanted to see what happened when I tried reinkers.  Wow is what happens!  Beyond the background I love how the Sleigh Ride Edgelits can be used to create a pretty scene within the PL Cards & Labels Framelits.  This may be one of my favorite cards so far this season.  Hope you love it too!

I’ll be back tomorrow with a new card for Freshly Made Sketches.  Until then, have a great day!

Fancy Friday – Watercolor Backgrounds

Fancy Friday – Watercolor Backgrounds published on 4 Comments on Fancy Friday – Watercolor Backgrounds

FF Jul - Hello

I am so excited to share with you this month’s project with for our Fancy Friday monthly hop!  If you just came over from the amazing Jeanna, welcome to the next stop.  My friends and I want to be able to share with you our ideas in a monthly format.  We will use different themes each month – sometimes colors, sometimes a sketch, sometimes a stamp set focus.  The one thing you can count on is that it will be fancy!  Over our year on the 2013 Artisan Design Team,  “fancy” became our word to describe the best projects, the best new clothes, even the best pedicure colors.  Now we want to share with you our take on “fancy” each month.  This month our theme is “Anything Goes”.  With all the chaos of summer, we decided just to see what happened on the crafting tables!

I thought it would be fun to play with watercoloring this week.  Backgrounds seem to be all the rage and using stencils is a perfect way to create really cool versions.  I made two versions of this card just to show how you can personalize this concept.  Using watercolor paper, I started by laying down a little bit of clean water.  Then I dipped a paint brush in ink (Cucumber Crush and Blackberry Bliss were my colors here).  I added it randomly creating light and dark spots.  Once I was happy, I laid down the diamond stencil from the new Happy Patterns Decorative Masks.  When you push it down on top of the inking you did, the colors pool a bit in the shapes.  I helped it along by adding additional color into selected diamonds.  I held the edges of the stencil down using clear blocks (very high tech, lol) and hit the paper with the low setting of my heat tool to dry it some.  When it was only damp, I added just a little more ink.  Then I let it dry completely.  While it was drying, I figured out the rest of the card.  I took two leftover butterflies from my Watercolor Wishes Kit (they give you extras!) and inked them with Versamark and embossed them with Gold Embossing Powder.  I cut the sentiment using my Greetings Thinlits Dies and Gold Foil.  I wound up some of the new Gold Metallic Thread and laid it onto the White Vellum.  A little bit of Multipurpose Adhesive on the sentiment holds the thread and the sentiment to the vellum.  Finally I added some sequins from the new Metallics Sequins Assortment.  The panels were attached to card bases matching the ink.  This is a little time consuming but such a fun thing to try when you are feeling artsy!

I’m so glad you stopped in to visit today.  I hope you have a great time seeing all the beautiful things on our hop.

The amazing Mercedes Weber is up next!   Wait until you see the fancy holiday card she created!
