Where, oh where, is spring??

Where, oh where, is spring?? published on No Comments on Where, oh where, is spring??

You found at least a little breath of it here!!!  With the forecast of more sn#@ (it has become a bad word), I had to pull out all the stops for a spring card!!  I realized that I am sadly short of pretty pastel paper (soon to be fixed, I can assure you) and had to go searching for some retired items.  Well, it was one of my resolutions to actually USE some of the beautiful things I have…  Plus, I really wanted to use my new set, A Flower for All Seasons, that I got FREE with Sale-a-bration benefits.  Yes, SAB is still going on and you, too, can get lovely free things from Stampin’ Up!!  I have to admit that I am not much of a pink kind of girl, but with Bordering Blue and Saffron I love it!!  Besides, who doesn’t love pink tulips??!!  Don’t forget, you can click on the card to see it larger.

 SC269 - A breath of spring

I used the sketch layout for this week from Splitcoaststampers, SC269.  I love the triangle cut and how it lets you add more color to your card!  I used my Stampin’ Pastels and a blender pen to watercolor the design.  It seems like every spring, when my tastes turn to pastels, my chalks are the first thing that comes out.  Hmm, sort of like the first robins of spring….yes, I digress into wishing for spring again!  At least with my Stampin’ Pastels I am guarenteed to have all of the 48 SU colors right at my disposal!!  The phrase from God’s Beauty (a retired hostess set) seemed just right for how I feel.  The onlything left was ribbon.  I did change the sketch a little and skipped the horizontal band across.  The little corner knot finished the card up nicely.

Well, I have had a request to do a tutorial on tying the bow like in the post below, so come back Friday and I’ll have a post on that one and the corner knot!  As always, thanks for dropping by!

Birthday in Bleu

Birthday in Bleu published on No Comments on Birthday in Bleu

One of my dearest friends has a birthday tomorrow and this stamp set really seems to fit!  I’ve been wanting to do cards with the new Vintage Vogue (Occasions mini) and the Bella Bleu Designer Series Paper.  They seem like a natural fit!  I really like the So Saffron with the Not Quite Navy, too.  I used white taffeta ribbon to make the centers (a few pictures follow with the how-to) and the new Scallop Trim border punch to embellish the horizontal strip.  This punch is available free (my favorite price) through the Sale-a-bration promotion from Stampin’ Up!  Contact your demonstrator or me for details.  The sketch is courtesy of the Splitcoaststampers weekly sketch challenge (SC264).  Thanks for taking a look!

SC264- Christine's birthday

Stamps:  Vintage Vogue (Occasions Mini)

Paper:  Bella Bleu DSP, So Saffron, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White

Ink:  So Saffron, Not Quite Navy

Accessories:  Scallop Trim border punch (SAB), White taffeta ribbon, dimensionals, mini glue dots

To make the center, cut a piece of ribbon approximately 3 1/2 inches long.  Attach the two flowers together and punch a circle, using the 1/16 inch circle punch, in the center of the flower.

Then feed the ribbon through the hole and loop it through itself (like the beginning of a knot).  Pull to tighten but leave it a bit loose.

Finally, feed the end back through the hole and trim off the ends as needed.

Thanks again for stopping by!

So many thank yous, so little time…

So many thank yous, so little time… published on 3 Comments on So many thank yous, so little time…

Yes, it is official…I have countless thank you cards to make!!!  You know the saying about long journeys.  Something about starting with a single step, I think.  Here is the first of many cards for the overwhelming generosity of my family this Christmas.  Of  course, I HAD to use my new Vintage Vogue stamp set.  It is available in the new Stampin’ Up Occasions mini which just went active yesterday.  I am ready for my first order and I can’t wait to share all the cool stuff this mini has to offer!  As if is wasn’t enough to have all those lovely ribbons, brads, designer papers, stamps (did I mention SATIN ribbon??!!) to choose from, Sale-a-bration (SAB) has started too!  Wonderful free stamp sets, a punch and even catalog sets to choose from…WOW!!  You should have your Occasions mini and your Sale-a-bration flyer by now.  I am starting to schedule classes for SAB now so let me know if you want to take advantage and earn even more free stuff by being a hostess!  Ok, on to the card…

All of you who know me know that I have a ribbon problem.  Yes, my name is Jennifer and I am a ribbon-a-holic!  It seems that I also have a problem with hoarding Stampin’ Up’s lovely designer papers.  I have made it one of my stamping resolutions to actually USE this paper and ribbon (crazy, I know).  So while the stamp set is new, the papers and ribbons are retired.  Please don’t hold it against me, I just have to make room for my wonderful Occasions mini order!
