FMS253 - ThanksOh do I have a fun one to share this week over at Freshly Made Sketches.  The lovely Jennifer Brum is our hostess this week and she had this “out of the box” sketch for us that I just love!  You are going to think of so many things to make!!

I pulled out my Pop of Pink DSP and Washi Tape and played around with some ideas before I decided….hang on…..to mostly keep it super simple.  I know, shocker right?!!  Haha!!  I hadn’t used this flower die (Echo Park Paper Co) in a while and thought it would be great for the sketch.  I thought it would be fun to use the die on this DSP and I like the effect.  I took the coordinating Washi Tape and attached to a strip of white card stock.  Not really the intended use but I just loved this particular pattern under the flower so…..  The sentiment is from Paper Pumpkin (the same kit as my FMS card with the fall flowers last week).  I think this curved font worked really well, don’t you??  A few sequins to finish.

FMS Final 253-001This is my first post of the day but don’t be surprised when another goes up soon.  The Card Concept Team is back from their summer break with a great challenge.  So….three cards from me in two days.  See, I have been a little more busy with my stamping!  I hope you get some time to create too.  See you soon!

Supplies:

Stamps:  Paper Pumpkin (SU); Ink: Versafine Onyx Black; Paper: Thick Whisper White, Pop of Pink DSP; Accessories:  Big Shot, Flower Die (Echo Park Paper Co.), Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh and SU), Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Pop of Pink Washi Tape

FMS252 - Flower HugsWow, has it already been a week since I posted??  Holy smokes August has flown by!!  I think the end of summer flying just zapped my brain!  Fortunately I am off this week and have some time to stamp.  YAY!!!!  First order of business was this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  And it is awesome, just like the sketch designer Karren Johnson!  Ok….I confess that when I saw the 4 circles I had a moment of panic.  But then I realized I could do just about anything for shapes.  Naturally I chose flowers.  Because, well, I love them!

So which flowers??  I paged through my Paper Pumpkin stamps and came across this set from last year and it was perfect.  Pretty flowers plus coordinating leaves!  I stamped them on Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper with Early Espresso ink (embossed with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder) and colored them with my Zig Clean Color Pens.  I used Lemon Yellow and Light Brown and love the fall feel they created together!  Using a Border Builders die (Lil’ Inker Designs) I cut the white panel and layered it with a retired DSP pattern from SU.  The sentiment is brand new from a set called Lovely from Essentials by Ellen (Ellen Hutson).  Given how much I love a flower stamp, this set of sentiments was simply a must have for me.  And it showed up super fast too!  WIN!!!  But I digress.  I stamped the background leaves and the sentiment in Early Espresso with clear embossing (to match the flowers).  After some debate, I stopped there.  I thought about some Wink of Stella for the flowers (still might go and add it on) but I was pretty happy with this just like it is.  You can totally tell I’m ready for some cool fall weather, can’t you?  I’m willing it to show up!!!

Card Sketch Aug 16-001Well, back to the stamp room to create some more.  Lots coming up in the next few weeks and I look forward to sharing with you.  I hope you’ll have as much fun with this week’s sketch as the Design Team did.  I don’t even have to ask them….I just saw what they made!!  I’ll be back tomorrow with a fun twist on a recent kit.  Until then, hope the day is great!  Thanks for stopping in!

FMS251 -I love FallAnother Wednesday and another fabulous challenge from Freshly Made Sketches!  This week, the lovely Cindy Hall has created a sketch that is an instant classic!  I love the traditional feel of it with all of the potential of layering.

I just had to ink up this new set from Concord and 9th called Give Thanks.  It has an awesome combination of leaves and sentiments.  Mostly this sentiment!!!   Because I do love Fall!!!!  Pretty basic stamping to create the back layer of the sketch and then some twine for the crossing layer.  I flipped the oval because it showed the leaves a bit better.  I can see I’m going to have lots of fun with this set!!

FMS Final 251-001Ok, short post because I’m off to work today.  I hope that you are having a great week and that you get some time to stamp.  Come over and join us for the sketch!  Thanks for stopping in!

FMS250 - Merry ChristmasI’m sure you have already been blown away by the amazing Cécile Ribon in her time as a Guest Designer at Freshly Made Sketches.  Well, this week she took on the task of being our sketch hostess.  And look at what she came up with!!  It really is fun!

I wanted to play a little more with O Christmas Tree from Concord and 9th as a continuing celebration of their first birthday.  The fonts from this set are so fabulous and the variety of images are super fun.  I took a panel of watercolor paper and inked it up with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in a variety of blues.  Then I splattered it with some water to see what would happen.  True confessions….this was actually my third panel….I messed up the embossing on the first two….yes, it was THAT stamping day.  The interesting finding in all this was the differences you get with varying brands of watercolor paper.  This paper is the Fabriano 140 lb Cold Press but I has also played with the Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Paper.  They have different textures (Tim Holtz has a smooth side and a rougher side) and the water spots move the ink in different ways.  It is like a fun experiment to play with them!!  I found that the Fabriano held onto the color just a little more and the texture really shows when you sponge on the colors.  I think the effect on this is pretty and I didn’t want to distract too much from it.  I added the snowflakes from the set by stamping in Versamark and heat embossing with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I pulled a snowflake wooden element from my stash (SU) and heat embossed it in white too.  The sentiment was stamped onto a Night of Navy panel the same way.  I added a few Sparkling Clear sequins which I love for how they morph depending on the background.

FMS Final 250-001I hope you have a great time playing with this sketch!  The angled panel allows for so many great options.  Make sure you stop by and say hi to Cécile too.  This is her first sketch and I think she did a great job!!  Trying to fit in some more stamping today.  Hope to have more to share soon.  See you then!

FMS249 - Floral ThanksI know you are going to be super happy when you see the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches this week.  Ok…I know…every week….but this one is awesome!  The incredibly talented and oh so sweet Kim Singdahlsen has a classic for us.  As usual, our team has turn a classic into fresh inspiration!

I have already told you how much I love the Detailed Florals Thinlits and the Floral Phrases stamp set from Stampin’ Up.  But I have neglected to show you the absolutely gorgeous Floral Boutique DSP.  So I picked a print (and honestly, almost any print from the pack would work….they are ALL amazing).  Once I had it cut for the sketch, the card was almost done.  Seriously!  The sentiment from the coordinating stamp set seemed tailor made for the sketch.  I layered some Night of Navy DSP under the sentiment to help it pop.  And then some pearls.  I thought the pearls were an elegant touch to match the recipient of this card, a dear friend.  I added the three but then went a little nuts and added some of the tiny ones on random flower center on the DSP.  You can click the photo to see a better closeup.

FMS Final 249-001Ok, well, I’m flying this week so it will be a few days until my next post.  Hoping to fit in some stamping when I get home though.  So glad you stopped by today.  See you soon!!

FMS248 - Flourishing HelloSo another summer week has flown by and I’m back with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches!  My clever friend Linda Callahan has come up with a super sketch for us this week.  Thank goodness….because I didn’t have much time to stamp!

I took her quite literally and kept my card even cleaner than usual (and that is saying a lot).  But as I started putting together the elements, I thought that white space was the perfect way to show off this amazing little leaf and beautiful flower die.  It is easy to lose the details of these kinds of things sometimes and they are worth showing off!  I bet when you looked at the Flourishing Phrases stamp set you were so caught up in the great sentiments that you kind of skipped over this leaf pair.  Yeah…me too.  But as soon as I stamped it in black…..well, wow.  So all I did was add a Melon Mambo flower from the coordinating die set and put a sequin in the middle.  The sentiment is from the stamp set too.  I kind of love how you could make a bunch of these in a rainbow of colors and have them all ready to send out!

Well, I’m back tomorrow and Friday with more from the Dare To Get Dirty week over at Splitcoaststampers.  I hope you will consider joining my challenge on Friday!!!  I’ll give you more details with my card.  Until then, off you go to enjoy all the eye candy from the design team this week!  See you soon!

Jen Timko - FMS247 - Awesomely AmazingWe have an awesome surprise for you this week over at Freshly Made Sketches!!  One of our guest designers has taken on the job of sketch hostess!  Shannon Jaramillo has surely wow’d you and now she has given us a sketch that is bound to get you stamping.  Just think of all the possibilities for this one!

I thought it would be fun to use this flower image for the circle element and I hope Shannon will approve of my interpretation.  The image is from Awesomely Artistic.  I colored it using Copic Markers in pinks and light greens.  So fun to color!!  I’m continuing to try to participate in The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge as much as I can.  I highly recommend it.  Good for your happiness!  My sentiment is (again) from Paper Pumpkin.  I added some of the new Black Metallic Thread and Black Sequins.

I think you will love playing along on this one.  Please make sure you make a special visit over to Shannon’s blog to thank her for the inspiration!  I’ll be back on Friday with this month’s Fancy Friday project and next week I have some real fun for you.  Can’t wait to share more!  See you soon!

Jen Timko - FMS246 - Flourish in PinkNow just look at the cool sketch we have over at Freshly Made Sketches today!!  It is so fantastic!  No surprise, my friend Rita has added a tag since she has been making some super fab ones on her blog lately.  Ours are a bit cleaner but it is a fun element for sure!

I decided that Pop of Pink DSP was perfect for this one and used this fun Melon Mambo print for my tag that was created with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and a Corner Rounder from my Envelope Punch Board.  Super quick and so easy!  I love, love this flower that I created with the Flourish Thinlets.   I added some Black Baker’s Twine and embossed the back panel with Softly Falling to add a little more texture.  The sentiment comes from Paper Pumpkin.  Love how all the elements combine so beautifully for a bright and happy card!

FMS Final 246-001The team has such a variety of ideas to show you.  I hope you have fun with the challenge this week and I will see you soon!

FMS245 - Happy BirdsI am so happy to be able to share our adorable sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  This one is such fun and lends itself to so many things….DSP, colored panels, great focal images.  Should not come as a surprise that the incredible Jen Mitchell is this week’s sketch hostess!

I opted to focus on a fun stamp from WPlus9’s Happy Birds.  These birds still just crack me up!  I  colored him using my Zig Clean Color Markers (just two colored needed).  I chose zig-zag print from Pop of Pink DSP (SU) and cut it a using Border Builders die from Lil’ Inkers.  The focal panel was cut with a Stitched Rectangles die (SSS).  I chose a sentiment from Paper Pumpkin….I know….those seem to be my go-to lately but they really are so trendy and great!  I finally topped it with a few sequins.

FMS Final 245-001I hope you have a great time with this one.  Guessing the gallery will be just loaded with inspiration!!  I’ll be back tomorrow with a new card that has a Product Review for Splitcoaststampers.  It even included a video tutorial so I hope you’ll stop in!  See you soon!

Jen Timko - FMS244 - Spring DaisiesHappy July to you!!  I hope that you have had a great start to the month.  You may have noticed I have been mostly absent over the last week or so.  Well, I was!  Because I was on vacation!  YAY!!!  My family and I went to the beach for a week and then added onto the vacation with a trip to downtown Washington DC for a baseball game and the big fireworks on the 4th.  The weather was a bit soggy but the game played on and the family had a great time.  Even the fireworks managed to go up despite the low ceilings.  But now I’m home and getting everything back in order.  So I’ll start by being the sketch hostess for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches.

I continued to play with my new Colorbox inks, this time in the Spring color palette.  I thought it would be fun to pull out the little Daisy stamp from Altenew and do a bit of masking to create this little trio of flowers.  Pretty, aren’t they?!  The layering of the colors comes from just stamping off the inks in various degrees to create the shades.  Super simple way to make sure your colors coordinate perfectly!  Speaking of coordinating….aren’t these sequins an awesome match?!    I picked out two from Pretty Pink Posh and one from an old Paper Pumpkin.  The sentiment is from the Skipping Stones Design set Healing Wings.  I cut the stamped layer using my retired Ovals Dies (SU) and then attached it to a White Notecard from SU.

FMS Final 244-001I hope that you enjoy this sketch!  The team must have because their samples this week are incredible!!  I look forward to seeing you in the gallery too!  Now….back to laundry….  And maybe just a bit of stamping too, I hope.  Until next time, I hope you have a great day!
