I am excited to bring you the Freshly Made Sketches challenge sketch today. I am the sketch hostess this week! As I pondered what to make, I thought it would be fun to keep in really simple. This sketch can use a punch, a die cut or a stamp…I’m sure you will wow me with your creations. The Design Team certainly has!

In my Artisan Wednesday Wow post that went up earlier, I told you I was starting a series of projects that could be created with the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit. This card uses the leaves (just like the present) to embellish the card. I combined them with a pattern from Sweater Weather DSP, which is also a pattern from the kit. The sentiment is from the new and awesome photopolymer set Another Thank You. You’ll be seeing more of that too! I created the bow in the same way as the one on the present, this time using Very Vanilla Seam Binding.

Artisan Wednesday Wow – Thankful Package

As I told you last week, Stampin’ Up’s Artisan Design Team is on to our October box! For those of you who are unfamiliar, the team gets a box of fabulous SU products to create our projects each month. This month we have a lot to be thankful for because Stampin’ Up has so many beautiful Thanksgiving and fall things. If you have come over from amazing Jeanna, welcome to the next stop. I mentioned that I would be starting a series of projects using one of the perfectly designed kits from the Holiday Catalog and now you know which one. The Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit is just wonderful! Of course it is perfect for its intended use…a tablescape. But my job is to show you what else you can create with it! This week, I’m showing you a packaging idea. I took a standard shirt box (with a present for my dear brother-in-law) and wrapped it in this brown kraft wrapping paper. Now for the fun part! The Birch Paper Ribbon and the Chocolate Chip Paper Ribbon are exactly the right size to wrap around the box (and there are three of each in the kit). All I did then was add a bit of the Natural Trim Ribbon around the box then create a focal embellishment.

I looped the ribbon and cinched it up with some Linen Thread. Then I tucked two of the leaves from the kit underneath. I added a little pine cone on top to finish it off (the pinecone, leaves and bow are attached using hot glue). Now isn’t that a great way to dress up a fall present?! I know…now you need this kit (as if you already didn’t). For the next two weeks I will use the same kit for more projects…I can’t wait!

Stampin’ Addicts Winter Holiday Blog Hop

Welcome to the Winter Holiday Blog Hop from the Stampin’ Addicts! I am so excited to share this hop with some of my favorite stampers. The Stampin’ Addicts are a supportive group of crafters who love Stampin’ Up. I have been an “Addict” for years and love hopping with them. If you have come over from Debra Burgin of Heartfelt Inkspiration, I know you were wow’d by her Wonderful Wreath projects! I love all of the seasonal projects she created! If you are starting here, just hop all the way around using the buttons on each post. You won’t want to miss a thing!

I chose to make projects using the Expressions Thinlits and I am so happy I did! These little words are so fun to use! I made one card for each word and will show them in order of their respective holidays.

First up is Thanksgiving! Ok, this really could be used all autumn long but it really looks like Thanksgiving to me. I used some burlap and attached it to a Baked Brown Sugar layer then added the leaves from Magnificent Maple and the thinlit word. That whole panel is popped up on Dimensionals. The thinlit and leaves are attached using Crystal Effects (a light hand).

Next up is Christmas and what better than combining the thinlit with a great sentiment stamp. I chose More Merry Messages because I like the script paired with the traditional font. Just add in this great print from Season of Style and you get a fun card that is easy to duplicate. A few buttons finish it off!

Finally, a little bit of of a Valentine’s preview. Although this is just a great card for any special person! Ok, Jennifer, where did you get the thought bubble?! It is just an oval cut out with the Ovals Framelits and then I snipped the extra triangle out…yep, quick and fun! The “you!” comes from Yippee Skippee and I added in a little bit of Epic Day Washi Tape that I placed first on Whisper White card stock. There is Cherry Cobbler behind the thought bubble so it seemed perfect to add in Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine too.

Ok. Now you can see why you NEED these little thinlits. You may have seen this tip before but add a little piece of waxed paper between the paper you are cutting and the thinlit to make it easier to pop it out.

Artisan Wednesday Wow – Truly Grateful

This month we have a lot to be thankful for because Stampin’ Up has so many beautiful Thanksgiving and fall things. If you have come over from uber talented Jeanna, welcome to the next stop. My inspiration for this card started with this gorgeous stamp set. When I saw the ribbon on the wheat, I knew I wanted to put one on the card too. I chose Pool Party and Smoky Slate as my colors. I stamped off the chevron image and put it behind the wheat then colored the wheat itself with a pencil. My amazing friend Heidi Baks has done this and I stored the idea away for the perfect day. I thought this was it! The ribbon on the stamp was colored with a Pool Party Marker. I put the words from Background Basics behind the ribbon to add a little more detail and made a “shabby” bow from Pool Party Seam Binding. A little stitching on the panels and some Basic Pearls to finish it off.

Glittered Pumpkins

I promised you a bonus project today and I am so excited to share this with you. Those of you who have been following for a while know that I am not much of a glitter girl. The mess kind of, well, messes with me. But sometime a project is just worth it. This is one of them! And it is so crazy easy! Take a look:

Yeah, I know…they are so cool, right?! Just wait until you see the supply list. Here it is: pumpkins (whatever size you like), basic glue, foamy applicator and Stampin’ Glitter in Black and Orange (they come as a pack). That’s it, that’s all. So you take some glue (I used plain old Elmer’s) and put it in a little container. I have some old button boxes that work perfectly for this. Take your little foamy brush and paint on the glue. Be generous. I probably needed a little more with the black pumpkin (it was my first one). With a big pumpkin you would probably want to do this in phases but I painted the whole thing. Then sprinkle on the glitter and set aside to dry. Ok, you are done. Mine took about a day to really dry well and now they are ready to use. See, I told you it was easy. And aren’t they pretty??! Stampin’ Up may turn me into a glitter girl yet!

Freshly Made Sketches #105

It’s Freshly Made Sketches day!!! And we have a cool sketch for you this week…apparently it’s hip to be square! The oh-so-talented Allisa Chilton has created this one for us and you are sure to love it!

In my Artisan Wednesday Wow post earlier today I told you how much I love fall! Well, I’m on a roll in making fall projects (you’ll see more in the upcoming weeks). With all that was out on my stamp table, this card practically came together by itself. Much of this card comes from the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit. The leaf (no dies required) and some of these paper are in it. While you can use the kit to actually create the intended project, you can also use it for other things…like this card! The Chocolate Chip square is from Sweater Weather DSP and was leftover piece too. Oh…need I mention that the DSP and the kit coordinate perfectly? Of course they do. The sentiment is inked with a Chocolate Chip marker and is from Harvest of Thanks. I added on some 7/16″ Trim Ribbon and a retired Cajun Craze button tied with some Linen Thread from the kit.

I guess I’m not the only one who is falling for fall! Take a look at the FMS design team to see what I mean! Of course the team has some other amazing ideas to share too. I hope you can play along with us this week…I’ll look for you there!

Artisan Wednesday Wow – Autumn Maple Leaves

It is time for Stampin’ Up’s Artisan Design Team to show you some amazing things from our September box! For those of you who are unfamiliar, the team gets a box of fabulous SU products to create our projects each month. This is our last week of projects with this box and I have been so in love with the team’s work. If you have come over from amazing Jeanna, welcome to the next stop. This is one of those cards that just made me happy as I created it. I love fall! The crisp air, apple picking, football and the coloring of the leaves. I pulled out Magnificent Maple to see if I could capture those colors and I love this stamp. The leaves were actually created first and then I built a card around them. They are stamped in Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry, fussy cut then sponged with Early Espresso ink. I partially inked up the Dictionary stamp with Crumb Cake and stamped onto a Naturals Ivory panel. Next I created this bow tied up with a Vintage Faceted Button and Linen Thread. I layered in the Tea Lace Paper Doily then framed the stamped panel with Early Espresso and placed it on a Baked Brown Sugar card base.

Halloween Hello

Happy Sunday evening to you! I hope the weekend was wonderful. I have a bonus card to share with you. It is one of the cards that my Hostess Club made during our get-togethers this week and it uses my favorite Halloween set from the Holiday Catalog, Halloween Happiness.

I just think this little group of pumpkins is adorable! And so fun to use for a great little card. I put them together with the Witches’ Brew DSP to create this. Did you know that the pumpkins line up perfectly on this tag shape from the Apothecary Accents Framelits? Me neither. It was a happy accident when I grabbed the wrong die set. Then I realized this was even better than my original design. Do you notice the little edges framing the black DSP? Those are courtesy of the Tiny Wave Rotary Blade on the new Stampin’ Trimmer (rotary arm). I was a little slow to move on this but it really is a superior cutting system. I inked up the pumpkins with Stampin’ Write Markers and then stamped the pumpkins again so I could cut a couple out. I added an additional strip of the Pumpkin Pie DSP inside and the sentiment from the stamp. My club ladies enjoyed making this one (and the butterfly Artisan card from a couple of weeks ago).

Freshly Made Sketches #100

It’s here!!!! Sketch #100!! We are so excited over at Freshly Made Sketches!! We have all kinds of fun things for you. First…the sketch. The very first Queen of Clean is now a design team member – the awesome Cindy Hall! She thought it would be fun to go back to the very first sketch for this one and we all agreed! Next…the prizes. Yes, we have blog candy to give away. See the challenge site for the details! Finally…returning designers. Many of our talented designers from the past have come back to celebrate with us. Links to their cards are on the site.

I loved this sketch the first time I saw it so I was really happy to see it return! I thought I would turn it into a Christmas card using the Merry Little Christmas stamp set. I paired it with the Season of Style Paper Stack and some Season of Style Washi Tape. Where is the tape?? The horizontal panel! I just laid down two pieces to create this pretty textured element. I remain in love with the new buttons and thought they would be good here. They are tied up with Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine. Now I suspect that stamped panel looks familiar. Yes, it is pretty much the same as my FMS card from a few weeks ago. When I was making swaps I somehow ended up with one extra and held onto it “just in case”. Surely I’m not the only one who does that, right?! What do you know, it seemed perfect here!

This is definitely a bit different from my card entered for the first sketch. I remember seeing this challenge concept and was so excited. Finally, my stamping style had a definition and a challenge to match!! To Lesley Croghan and the rest of this extraordinary team, thank you for all you do. I am privileged to be a part of this group and every week I am inspired and awed by their talent!!
