Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – Cup of Cocoa and Frozen Fellowship published on 56 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – Cup of Cocoa and Frozen Fellowship

Welcome to day 1 of the November Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  We have such fun products to show you this week and we are starting today with lots to share.  Two stamp sets and two new stand alone die sets….wow!

Everything Nice by Jen Timko | Cup of Cocoa Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Snowfall Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs, Copic Coloring, Be Merry DSP by Stampin' UpOur first set I’m showing you is called Cup of Cocoa! ** Warning:  Triggers uncontrollable tendencies to run to the kitchen and make some cocoa immediately!! ** I used the Color Theory paper from Stampin’ Up and the Snowfall Stencil from Newton’ Nook as an embossing folder.  This is a great way to stretch your stencils and add fun details to a background.  I colored this adorable cup from the set to match the ombré paper.  Fun, right?!  The new Frames & Flags Dies create quick banners that layer wonderfully and all I had to do was add a sentiment from the stamp set.

Snow-one else by Jen Timko | Frozen Fellowship Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Frames & Flags Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Zig Clean Color PensFor my second card, I get to show you Frozen Fellowship.  This is perfect for holiday cards but it continues to work into the rest of winter too!  The minute I saw this set, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  I loved the idea of choosing one of the snowmen to stand out as unique and the used this fabulous sentiment.  Using my Zig Clean Color Markers, I colored all the snowmen in shade of gray.  Then chose this funny little guy at the bottom for full color (I confess that choosing which snowman to have color was the hard part, haha).  I used the new Frames & Flags Dies again here and you can see how awesome they are to create layers.

Yes, indeed, this is another amazing day 1.  And I did tell you there are two new stand alone dies.  The other one (which I will use later this week) is called the Fancy Edges Tag Die set and you are going to love it!  You can see all the features in the graphic below.  Now on to everyone’s favorite part of release week.  A chance to win!!

Would you like to win the “Cup of Cocoa” or the “Frozen Fellowship” Stamp Set?

Each set will be given away to ONE lucky winner!

Fancy Friday

Fancy Friday published on 8 Comments on Fancy Friday

Welcome to this month’s Fancy Friday Blog Hop!  Our team is a group of stampers who love to make beautiful things.  Sometimes they are clean, sometimes they are layered but the one thing I can say for sure is that our projects will be fancy!  If you hopped over from the amazing Marisa Gunn, welcome to the next stop.  For November, we are all working with a sketch.  And you know I cannot resist a sketch!!

Fancy Friday - Cup of Cheer by Jen Timko | Merry Cafe Stamp Set by Stampin' Up, Coffee Cups Framelits by Stampin' Up, Coffee Break DSP by Stampin' Up, WatercolorI thought the sketch was a perfect one to show off this fun coffee cup set from Stampin’ Up.  It is called Merry Café and it can be found in the Holiday Catalog.  It is a sister set to the Coffee Café set from the main catalog and the dies from that set are used for both.  Fabulous!  I chose to do a quick watercolor on the cup using Soft Sky ink after stamping the cup, sentiments and snowflakes in Versafine Ink.  You want to make sure you use a water safe ink when you stamp.  After cutting them with the framelits and the Big Shot, I just popped them up on Dimensionals for the image panel.  To keep with the sketch, I added a strip of Soft Sky card stock along the side for a simple extra border that is a great way to use scraps.  The patterned paper for the crossing panel is from the Coffee Break DSP pack and I love those subtle chevrons.  I added some white cotton ribbon (SU ret) across the panel and tied it with some White Baker’s Twine.  Finally, I pulled some of the sequins from the October Paper Pumpkin kit as a finishing touch.  This card hits the sweet spot for this time of year for me.  Quick, cute and easy to duplicate!  I hope you enjoy it too!

Now I am really, REALLY excited to tell you that our Fancy Team has grown a bit.  Our new members will be introducing themselves over the next few months but I get the extraordinary pleasure of sending you over to one of my favorite stampers.  As an Artisan in 2011, Jennifer Picard has been one of my crafty heroes for a long time.  Truth be told, I’m a little star struck!  I know you will love her work as much as I do so hop right over to see what she has created.

You can click our logo above to get to the Fancy Friday Pinterest page!

Stamp:  Merry Café (SU); Ink:  Versafine Onyx Back; Paper:  Fabriano Extra White Watercolor Paper, Thick Whisper White (SU); Accessories:  Paper Pumpkin October Sequins, Big Shot, Coffee Cups Framelits (SU), White Baker’s Twine (SU), White Cotton Ribbon (SU ret)

Newton’s Nook Designs – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Newton’s Nook Designs – 25 Days of Christmas Tags published on 30 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

I am so happy to joining in a fabulous event today.  Tracey McNeely has begun her 7th annual 25 Days of Christmas Tags and today Newton’s Nook Designs is the featured sponsor.  I have already gotten a sneak peek and you are going to have fun hopping through all the fabulous projects today (and for all 25 days!).

Merry and Joy Tags by Jen Timko | Snowfall Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs, Snow Globe Shaker Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Dotted Shaker Tag 1 Die by Studio KatiaI thought it would be fun to create tags featuring the Snowfall Stencil and the words from the Snow Globe Shaker Dies.  The dies make for quick work when you are making multiple tags.  I simply used the dies on Red Glimmer Paper (Stampin’ Up).  All the shine and no extra work!  Perfect for the holidays.  I used Embossing Paste with the stencils and just created an assembly line on them (make sure you wash off the embossing paste as soon as you can).  I attached the words to some vellum and then glued the vellum pieces to the tags using Ranger Multi Medium Matte Glue.  I colored a few rhinestones with a Copic marker and added those for more bling.  Finally, I used the Mini Tinsel Trim (it comes in red and silver) to top off the tags.  If you love sparkle for you holiday packaging, these are the tags for you!

Make sure you stop over at Tracey’s blog to see all the Newton’s Nook Designs tags and check HERE to see how you can win prizes from NND and the other generous sponsors.  Thanks so much for stopping in.  Hope you have a great day!

Paper:  Smoky Slate (SU), Red Glimmer Paper (SU), White Vellum (SU); Accessories:  Big Shot, Snow Globe Shaker Dies (Newton’s Nook Designs), Snowfall Stencil (Newton’s Nook Designs), Embossing Paste (SU), Basic Rhinestones (SU), Mini Tinsel Trim (SU), R29 Copic Marker, Dotted Shaker Tag 1 Die (Studio Katia)

Enjoy Autumn

Enjoy Autumn published on 4 Comments on Enjoy Autumn

Enjoy Autumn by Jen Timko | Autumn Newtons Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Happy Little Thoughts Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Winsor and Newton Paints, WatercolorToday is my day to share a project on the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog and I’m still in love with all things fall!  Apparently my little friend Newton is too and I pulled out Autumn Newton to color today.

Fall in Virginia is my favorite season and we are finally really entering the season.  About time!  It seemed late to arrive this year.  I love apples and pumpkins and oh do I love the leaves!  I used some of the local fall things as inspiration for my colors (See the spotty gourd?  My friend had a picture of one like that so I had to include it!)  The leaves next to the card are from my yard and I used those colors as a start for my leaf coloring.

Enjoy Autumn Close Up by Jen Timko | Autumn Newton Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Happy Little Thoughts Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Winsor and Newton Paints, WatercolorI thought that using my Winsor and Newton watercolor paints would be the perfect way to color this.  Something about how the paints layers that ink doesn’t makes it great for blending colors and layering texture.  I used Fabriano Extra White Watercolor Paper….one of my favorites.  While the stamp set has wonderful sentiments, I leaned on one of my go-to phrases from the Happy Little Thoughts stamp set.  I thought it fit this sweet image wonderfully!  I cut a the image layer shape with the Snow Globe Shaker Dies for a fun and different look.

I’m also linking this in to the Inspired by All the Little Things challenge….more gorgeous fall loveliness.  I hope you enjoy this autumn extra today!  Make sure to stop by the Newton’s Nook Designs blog for daily inspiration!!  See you tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches.

Stamp: Autumn Newton (Newton’s Nook Designs), Happy Little Thoughts (Newton’s Nook Designs); Ink:  Verafine Onyx Black; Paper:  Fabriano Extra White Watercolor, Wood Textures DSP (Stampin’ Up); Accessories:  Big Shot, Autumn Newton Dies (Newton’s Nook Designs), Snow Globe Shaker Dies (Newton’s Nook Designs), Stitched Rectangles Dies (SSS), Misti, Silver Paint Brush, Winsor and Newton Paints, Daniel Smith Paints, Burlap Ribbon (SU ret)

Freshly Made Sketches #310

Freshly Made Sketches #310 published on 6 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #310

FMS310 by Jen Timko | Be Merry Stamp Set and Dies by WPlus9, Be Merry DSP by Stampin' Up, Copic ColoringHappy Wednesday!!  We have a fabulous new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches.  The incredible Kim Singdahlsen is our sketch hostess this week and you are just going to fall in love!

It seems that traditional colors are the way I’m leaning this year on my Christmas cards.  I remain obsessed with this Be Merry DSP from Stampin’ Up and I added on this speckled woodgrain print from Coffee Break DSP (also SU).  I think the prints work really well together!  I kept this pretty simple and used one of my go-to Christmas sentiments from the Be Merry Stamp Set by WPlus9.  The little flower and holly leaves are from the same set and I did some quick Copic coloring.  The sentiment is from the Be Merry Stamp Set from WPlus9 and it is one of my favorites again this year.  It is stamped in Early Espresso ink to match the woodgrain paper.  To create all the rectangles, I used the Stitched Rectangles Dies by Simon Says Stamp.

I’m trying to get a little more serious about my holiday cards so I think you can expect to see more of those in the upcoming weeks.  Make sure you stop over to say hi to the team at Freshly Made Sketches.  They have created wonderful projects this week!  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon.

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Stylish Stockings and Reindeer Roll Call

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Stylish Stockings and Reindeer Roll Call published on 34 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Stylish Stockings and Reindeer Roll Call

Happy day 3 of the Holiday Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  And yes, it is also Freshly Made Sketches day.  So I combined two of my favorite things into one post!  This holiday release from Newton’s Nook is going to continue to amazing you as, yet again, we have TWO stamps to share with you.

FMS309 by Jen Timko | Stylish Stockings Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Be Merry DSP by Stampin' UpI am going to start with the Stylish Stockings Stamp Set and the coordinating dies since I used it with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.  I love the sweet designs on these little stockings and the adorable stitched details for them.  I stamped them using Altenew’s Ruby Red ink and just look at how those tiny details show perfectly.  All I had to do was stamp the sentiment on a stitched circle and add some festive patterned paper.  Stamps like this make your holiday cards easy to reproduce and such fun to make!

Reindeer Chalk Board by Jen Timko | Reindeer Roll Call Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Corrugated Paper, Chalk BoardNext up is Reindeer Roll Call.  What an awesome idea this stamp is!!  As soon as I saw it, I thought chalk board card so I just had to give it a try.  I stamped using Versamark ink on a textured black card stock and then heat embossed with WOW Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder.  I added the little snowflakes and one of the reindeer from the stamp set to accent the names and embossed them too.  I cut the panel out with a cross-stitched rectangle die and added a few rhinestones that I colored with a red Copic marker.  To give it that chalk board look, I tapped on a little bit of white craft ink with a sponge.  Then, I cut out some Corrugated Kraft card stock using a cross-stitched rectangle and added this great 7/8″ Striped Ribbon from Stampin’ Up as an accent.  You’ll notice a theme with these card today….makable!  Because when it comes to holiday cards, I generally like the make a few of each style!

I just know you are going to love the projects from the entire Newton’s Nook team today and don’t forget to take a look at all the inspiration at Freshly Made Sketches too!  Of course, the post isn’t complete without a chance to win!

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Snow Globe Scenes and Shaker Dies

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Snow Globe Scenes and Shaker Dies published on 32 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Snow Globe Scenes and Shaker Dies

Welcome to day 2 of the Holiday Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  After a spectacular start to this week, I’m back today with another must-have set of products.  Yes indeed, a snow globe!!  Oh, the possibilities!

Santa Snow Globe by Jen Timko | Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Snow Globe Shaker Dies by Newton's Nook DesignsWhat is it about a shaker card that makes everyone happy?  No one can resist them!  And when the shaker is a snow globe?  It is sure to be a holiday hit!  As usual, the hardest part of my card was narrowing down which images to use.  Because I love them all!  I settled on the little houses and Santa because well, it is Santa!!  I loved the idea of using silver, navy and white to create an adorable winter scene for my snow globe.  And it is super fun to do.  I find it easier to show you in a video so I created a tutorial for you.

Direct link to the video:  Snow Globe Scenes Shaker Card

Make sure you take note of the foam and acetate sheet packs that will be available on Friday.  These are a great deal and you’ll want them on hand for all kinds of projects.

I said yesterday how much I love sentiment sets…just take a look at how perfectly Snow Globe Scenes coordinates with Sentiment of the Season from yesterday.  When font styles coordinate for the insides and outsides of a card, that makes like so easy for the holidays!

I hope you are having fun so far with this release!  And it is only day 2.  So many pretty products!!  Of course, the post isn’t complete without a chance to win!

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – All Aboard for Christmas and Sentiments of the Season

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – All Aboard for Christmas and Sentiments of the Season published on 27 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – All Aboard for Christmas and Sentiments of the Season

Welcome to day 1 of the Holiday Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  I love holiday cards.  Love them!  They are some of my favorites to make and this week’s release is full of amazing products to use.  I can hardly wait for you to see everything!  We are starting off with two stamp sets and two stencils.  Yes, I said starting off.  Oh wow!!

Holiday Cheer by Jen Timko | All Aboard for Christmas Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Be Merry DSP by Stampin' Up, Copic ColoringThe first set I get to show you today is called All Aboard For Christmas.   It honestly does not get cuter than this!  I just love how these little train cards can be mixed with the adorable contents to create fun combinations.  I chose Santa’s train and then filled the cars with Newton and his reindeer friend.  At first I was only going to do one car but I just could not stop coloring.  So instead, I made a card that is 6″ x 4″ to accommodate the larger train.  I chose my colors based on this designer paper from Stampin’ Up in classic Christmas colors so that I could make a coordinating envelope with my Envelope Punch Board for this non-standard card.  And I didn’t have to leave off anything!  Want to see the coloring closer?

All Aboard Close Up by Jen Timko | All Aboard for Christmas Stamp Set and Dies by Newton' Nook Designs, Be Merry DSP by Stampin' Up, Copic ColoringIf you love to color like I do, this is going to be a must have set.  But this is only the beginning of the release.  Because there is a fantastic sentiment set called Sentiments of the Season that is full of perfect outside and inside words for all your holiday cards.  I am a sentiment hoarder (especially holiday ones) and this set made me jump for joy!

Merry Christmas by Jen Timko | Sentiments of the Season Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Snowfall Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs, Nuvo Gilding Flakes, Tombow Multipurpose Glue, Gilding TutorialJust look at that pretty handwritten style on the Merry Christmas.  Awesome!  And the snowflakes, why yes you do spy one of the two new stencils.  It is called Snowfall and it is great, don’t you think?  I really wanted to show off the details of this stencil so I played around with a new to me product called Nuvo Gilding Flakes.  They are pretty fun and I found that I could use them with my Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive.  Super exciting for me to figure that out!!  Want to see how I did it?  I made a short video.

I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink and embossed it using gold embossing powder and I love how the two gold techniques coordinate.  There is such a pretty patina that comes from the gilding flakes and I think they really show off all the details of the stencil.  There is an additional stencil that is amazing for the holidays too.  With all the ways stencils can be used, they are such a great investment!

So wow.  This is day 1.  I told you it was going to be quite a week, didn’t I?!  I hope you’ll go visit the rest of the design team because their work today is extraordinary!  Oh, and of course you have a chance to win.  Because Newton’s Nook Designs is awesome like that!

Freshly Made Sketches #308

Freshly Made Sketches #308 published on 13 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #308

FMS308 by Jen Timko | Poinsettia Stamp by Simon Says Stamp, Be Merry Stamp and Dies by WPlus9, Be Merry DSP by Stampin' Up, Copic ColoringI am so happy to be able to share another great sketch with you today! The amazing Rita Wright is our sketch hostess at Freshly Made Sketches and she has one that will be fun for lots of interpretations.  Rita always has the most incredible coloring and that inspired me to pull out my Copics for today.

I love this Poinsettia stamp from Simon Says Stamp and I wanted to try to make it a white version.  (Red would have been pretty for this card too.)  Coloring white is always hard so I played around to see if I could do it.  On the flower I started with my light Toner Gray markers (T0, T2).  While I liked the look, I decided that I needed a little more color to make the flower look realistic.  So I added in a little bit of G20.  I think over all it turned out pretty.  The leaves from the set set were colored with a combination of green markers (G20, G24, YG61, YG17, YG67).  To add just a little more color to the card, I used this pretty Be Merry DSP from Stampin’ Up.  Love those speckles on the paper!  The sentiment and banner are from the Be Merry Stamp Set and Dies from WPlus9.  Finally, I thought I needed a little “something”, so I added some pearls to mimic the patten on the paper.

I have been busily stamping this week and getting ready to a new release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  You can expect lots of fun next week!  Until then, I hope you have a good week.  See you soon!

Freshly Made Sketches #307 – Again!

Freshly Made Sketches #307 – Again! published on 1 Comment on Freshly Made Sketches #307 – Again!

FMS307 by Jen Timko | Autumn Leaves Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Stitched Shapes Framelits by Stampin' Up, Tim Holtz Oxide Inks, Paper Pumpkin, Wood Textures DSP by Stampin' UpHappy Wednesday to you!  So you may notice that I’m posting the same card as I did last week.  While I admit that I’m pretty partial to this one, the real reason is that we at Freshly Made Sketches needed to extend our challenge for another week.

You see, our link tool provider fell off the grid for a bit and with him, our gallery.  Yikes!  The quick thinking Jen Mitchell got us back up and running quickly but the previous gallery was no more.  And we don’t want to miss any of the projects posted!  So we are extending this sketch through another week.  If you didn’t have time last week, come join us.  If you did, we hope you’ll consider a second card!

I hope you enjoy this sketch.  We have re-posted the inspiration from the whole team and the gallery is already looking gorgeous again.  Thanks for all the understanding as we work to make sure playing along remains easy and fun for all.  See you soon!
