Lesley’s Baby Girl Celebration Blog Hop

Lesley’s Baby Girl Celebration Blog Hop published on 10 Comments on Lesley’s Baby Girl Celebration Blog Hop

If you have been around stamping for a while, you are sure to know the lovely Lesley Croghan.  She is personally responsible for some of the most successful and fun challenges!  But beyond that, she has encouraged stampers to join her design teams and to play along with all kinds of inspiring ideas, making our stamping world a happier place.  I know that I personally can never truly pay Lesley back for the joy, friends and confidence I have due to one little contact.  The day she asked me to join the Freshly Made Sketches Design Team is one that I can mark as one of those days that changes your life in a meaningful way.  At the time, I squealed and jumped around like a fool because I was so excited to be asked to join such an amazing group of stampers.  Little did I know that I would also make some of the most incredible friends and find a support network that makes me a better person….and enables more that I can even admit to!!  *smile*

So Lesley, thank you!  For you and Corey, I am so very happy for this new little girl to arrive and she will have more stamping “aunties” than she can even imagine!Hello Baby Croghan by Jen Timko | Moon Baby Stamp Set by Stampin' Up, Zig Clean Color Pens, Watercolor

I created this card using the Moon Baby stamp set from Stampin’ Up.  I think these little images are too cute and they seemed perfect for Lesley’s little girl.  The nursery colors are Cameo Coral, Coastal Cabana, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray and White.  I took a little bit of liberty and added some pale yellow to help the colors pop but tried hard to stick to this fabulous combination.  I colored the images with my Zig Clean Color Markers and used some Distress Ink in the background.  After coloring, I cut out the image panel with Stitched Shapes Framelits and layered another stitched oval cut from Thick Whisper White.  I added some retired coral ribbon (SU SAB) and put the whole thing on some Lemon Card Stock (SSS).

Now you need to check out all the marvelously talented stampers who feel just the same way I do about Lesley.  We have a whole hop going on and you can find the link to all of us here:  It’s A Girl Blog Hop for Li’l Miss Croghan

Many of us sent our cards to the hop coordinator, Lori Turner, who bundled everything up and sent it to Lesley and Corey.  They get to open it this morning (Saturday) and I hope it brings much joy and happiness!!  Thanks for hopping through today.  I hope you enjoy sharing in the love and appreciation we have for Lesley!  Have a great weekend.

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Cottage Garden

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Cottage Garden published on 30 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Cottage Garden

Today is a double post day and this is for day 3 of the March release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  Today we are sharing a set called Cottage Garden and its coordinating dies.  So many beautiful images!  If you are looking for my FMS card today just give a quick scroll.

Hello Friend by Jen Timko | Cottage Garden Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Sky Borders Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Floral Boutique DSP by Stampin' UpThe Scandinavian feel of this art work was my inspiration for my card today.  Something about the blue and white simply felt like the best way to show off the lovely details.  I stamped the image in Night of Navy ink and then cut out the image with the coordinating dies.  These dies are a must have because being able to pop these images up really makes the card a wow!  I used one of the sentiments from the set too and stamped onto a white panel.  I cut the scallops using the Sky Borders Die from this new release and then cut the whole layer using a stitched rectangle.  I really liked the dots of this DSP bring with that mimic the dots in the stamp.  I thought about adding pearls and other embellishments, but in the end I felt like this was the perfect showcase for the set and left it clean.  You know what comes next, right?

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Lovable Laundry

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Lovable Laundry published on 28 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Lovable Laundry

Back for Day 2 of release week for the March release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  And you are totally going to be overwhelmed with cuteness today!  The set we are showing is called Lovable Laundry and it has a coordinating Stitched Onesie Die….sweetness overload!

Hello Baby by Jen Timko | Lovable Laundry Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Darling Hearts Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Softly Falling Textured Embossing by Stampin' Up, Sparkling Clear Sequins by Pretty Pink PoshThere are so many cute onesie designs in this set and I have to admit that I have already colored them all.  Talk about a distraction!  I just could not decide what colors to use so….I used pretty much ALL of them.  The good news is that I have a little stack ready for baby cards at a moments notice.

I stamped the onesie using Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto Thick Whisper White card stock and then colored using Copic Markers (colors listed below).  I just love how easy it is to cut it out with the Stitched Onesie Die and just look at that cute stitching that the die adds.  Small details make such a difference!  I wanted to show this off with a clean card so I cut out this stitched heart with the Darling Hearts die and added the little sentiments from the set.  There are so many combinations that you are sure to find just the right one.  And the little hanger is from my stash.  Can I admit now that when you find something from long ago that works right, it is NOT helpful in encouraging a de-stash.  Now I will use all of these hangers that I have on hand (from 2013 no less).  While I wanted clean, I did not want plain so I added these embossed dots and the beautiful Sparkling Clear Sequins to add some interest to the card.  I’m sure you know by now that the next step is a great opportunity for Newton’s Nook Design fans!!

Fancy Friday – Think Pink

Fancy Friday – Think Pink published on 4 Comments on Fancy Friday – Think Pink

Welcome to this month’s Fancy Friday Blog Hop!  Our team is a group of stampers who love to make beautiful things.  Sometimes they are clean, sometimes they are layered but the one thing I can say for sure is that our projects will be fancy!  If you hopped over from the amazing Susan Wong, welcome to the next stop.  For February, we have an inspiration challenge….Think Pink!

Think Pink by Jen Timko | Strength & Prayers Stamp Set by Stampin' Up, Watercolor, Pop of Pink DSPI have loved this beautiful bird image from Strength & Prayers since I got it and I wanted to use it for a non-sympathy card.  I thought playing with it in pink would be fun.  I stamped the image onto watercolor paper and also stamped the splatters from Gorgeous Grunge.  Then I started a loose watercolor with Pink Pirouette followed by additional coloring with Melon Mambo.  I just pulled the color right from the lid of my ink pads using an Aqua Painter.  Super easy to do, especially when you get to go out of the lines like I did here.  After the color dried back a bit, I went back in and layered in some more Melon Mambo to add more depth.  The sentiment is from a Paper Pumpkin set and I thought the font was a nice match to the art on the image.  I added a small border on the colored panel with Basic Black card stock and put it on a Pop of Pink DSP base.  Lots of pink here but you could use any color singly or a combination for a different look.

I hope you enjoy this fun look!  There are some serious “pink girls” in our hop and I just know they will have had a great time creating with this theme.

Now for the rest of the hop!  I’m telling you….this team is the most talented group.  You will be happy you hopped!  Next up is my amazing friend Connie Collins.  Her work is always extraordinary and you are sure to love what she created!

Freshly Made Sketches #272

Freshly Made Sketches #272 published on 11 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #272

Jen Timko - FMS272 | Stampin' Up Bold Butterflies Dies, Butterflies Dies, Watercolor Wings Stamp SetAfter the whirlwind of posting last week, I have been taking advantage of this week’s quiet to take care of non-stamping things.  But I finally got back into the stamp room yesterday and took a good look at the amazing Cécile‘s fun sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  The first think that popped into my head was butterflies (not sure why since they are clearly circles….but she did say any shape!).  Sometimes it is best just to go with it to see what happens!

I colored some Ranger Watercolor Paper (it is white) using Tim Holtz Distress Inks with the pretty aquas and pinks and set it aside to dry.  While I was waiting, I used the Bold Butterflies and Butterflies Dies (they coordinate) from SU to cut the intricate butterflies from White Vellum Card Stock.  Then I cut the colored paper with the outline dies of the same sets.  I pulled the stamp set from the same family, Watercolor Wings, and used the dotted border and sentiment stamped in Smoky Slate.  To help match the circle elements from the sketch, I added a white doily and some Silver Metallic Thread behind the butterflies.  I used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to attach the vellum to the colored butterflies and was amazed to see that you cannot see the adhesive.  (I had planned to use pearls to conceal it but went with a cleaner look when I realized I could.)

All in all, this is such a fun and easy card to make.  You could use DSP or watercolor different colors or even add glimmer paper to alter the feel of the card and make a pretty set.

I love how the design team has interpreted this one and I’m sure you’ll agree that they are amazing!  I hope you have fun and will join us in the gallery this week.  Back on Friday for this month’s Fancy Friday.  Until then, have a great week!

Freshly Made Sketches #268

Freshly Made Sketches #268 published on 6 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #268

Wow….the last Freshly Made Sketches challenge of the year.  Can you believe it??  I know, it snuck up on me too.  Good thing my friend the amazing and talented Jen Mitchell created one that is good for last minute holiday cards or ready for your post holiday crafting.  Hopefully with some new toys from Santa!!!

I could not do another Christmas card.  Done, complete, no more!  But I did need a birthday card for a special family member whose birthday is near the holidays.  So the only rule was nothing at all holiday-like!  Out came Pop of Pink DSP and this adorable little kitty from Newton’s Nook Designs.  The stamp set is Newton’s Day Dream.  And oh, this fellow is adorable!  I colored him with my Zig Clean Color Markers to look like this certain someone’s kitty and I love how he turned out!  I have to say that taking a short break from holiday madness to create this was EXACTLY what I needed!

Today I’m off for a trip so if you are going through Chicago O’Hare (or other parts of the country) keep an eye out for me.  And please remember to pack your patience at the airport.  This is a crazy time of year for us all.  Many travelers are super stressed and, I promise, we really really want to get you (and us) there on time….safely!

I have some fun news coming up in the next few days that I look forward to sharing with you.  But you can expect that I’ll be away a bit more over the next couple of weeks.  I am off after Friday (like winning the lottery for an airline pilot) but will be spending time with family.  I hope to fit in some bonus stamping too!

The team has such fun inspiration for you this week!   It is sure to get you on your way to creating.  Plus, this sketch is open until Jan. 2 so that the team can take a bit of a holiday too.  Stop in to visit us though…we’ll see you in the gallery!!

Stamp:  Newton’s Day Dream (Newton’s Nook); Ink:  WPlus9 Black, Versafine Black; Paper:  Pop of Pink DSP (SU), Watercolor Paper (Ranger); Accessories:  Zig Clean Color Pens (48 pack), Zig BrusH2O Pen

Jen Timko - FMS262Today is Freshly Made Sketches day.  Thank goodness.  Because I, for one, need something happy to occupy my time.  I feel certain there are others who share my thoughts.  The lovely Jennifer Brum is our sketch hostess.  I know you will love it as much as I did.

I will admit that things have been super busy here are I had this flower colored from a project last week.  Copics were the tool of choice for coloring this flower and it was such fun.  I had not used them for a bit and forgot how much I love them.  I added some Pop of Pink DSP with this cool chevron pattern and a sentiment from the same set as the flower, Altenew’s Beautiful Day.

So today is one of those days that we have a choice.  I am going to choose kindness.  I wish you a beautiful day!  See you soon!

Fancy Friday – Merry Tags Partial Die Cut

Fancy Friday – Merry Tags Partial Die Cut published on 6 Comments on Fancy Friday – Merry Tags Partial Die Cut

Jen Timko - Merry Tags Partial Die Cut TechniqueWelcome to this month’s Fancy Friday Blog Hop!  Our team is a group of stampers who love to make beautiful things.  Sometimes they are clean, sometimes they are layered but the one thing I can say for sure is that our projects will be fancy!  If you hopped over from the lovely and talented Connie, welcome to the next stop.  For October, our theme is a Technique challenge!  I love a good technique and I thought it would be fun to revisit the Partial Die Cut Technique.

So I debated whether I should do this as a shaker card or using DSP and I finally decided to show you both!!  They each have their wow and I can totally see you being able to go crazy with ideas on them.  To keep it simple, I created a video tutorial for you on the shaker card.

If you are having trouble seeing it in your email, you can click HERE!

Just a few of the details to add in from the video.  The DSP in the background on the deer and tree tag is from the Floral Boutique pack.  Just remember your paper doesn’t have to be “holiday” to work perfectly.  And you could totally use some Glimmer Paper for a wow effect!  DSP on the bottom panel or textures like the Softly Falling Embossing Folder will change the look and allow for fun variations.  I’m really hoping you’ll share your versions with me!!

Fancy-Friday-08I think you are going to jump for joy as you hop around this month!  You know these stampers are simply going to wow you!!  And speaking of wow, I get the privilege of introducing a new member of our Fancy Friday team.  The amazing Sue Plote has agree to join us.  Her work is extraordinary and we are thrilled to have her along.  Have fun on the hop!

Strength & Prayers

Strength & Prayers published on 3 Comments on Strength & Prayers

Jen Timko - Strength & PrayersBecause I had some time to stamp last week and I needed a card for a friend, it seemed like the perfect time to pull out this gorgeous stamp set from Stampin’ Up.  I think the art on this bird is stunning!!!  The best part of this set??  Less is more.  (I know it shocks you to hear that I’d be drawn to a set like that, haha!)  I stamped the image and the sentiment onto watercolor paper using WPlus9 Black Dye Ink.  Then using a Zig Clean Color Pen in Light Blue I added in a bit of color to the bird.  And a few sequins (some hoarded ones that I LOVE) from the Watercolor Wishes kit that matched perfectly just had to go on too.  I put it on a Soft Sky base and cut the inside sentiment panel to match the layout of the front.

I rarely see a set that simply goes into my shopping cart without question and this was one.  The set of 3 is perfect for sympathy cards but also for inspiration.  Ok…quick post for today.  Back tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches.  Until then, have a great day!

Stamps:  Strength & Prayers; Ink: WPlus9 Black Dye Ink; Paper: Canson Watercolor, Soft Sky; Accessories:  Misti, Zig BrusH2O, Sequins (Watercolor Wishes Kit), Dimensionals

The Card Concept #59

The Card Concept #59 published on 9 Comments on The Card Concept #59

Jen Timko - CC59It is time for a new challenge at The Card Concept and I’m so excited to share my Clean and Graphic card.  Our inspiration this week is such fun and I was thought I would use the colors to create my card.

I thought the flower from You Are Enough (Concord and 9th) would be perfect for playing with color.  I stamped on Fabriano Watercolor Paper using WPlus9 Black Ink.  Then I colored using two of Stampin’ Up’s In Colors, Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum.  I added a little Tip Top Taupe (mostly because I love the name, haha) to mimic the neutral of the ice cream cone in the photo.  I added a sentiment from Lovely (Essentials by Ellen) and some sequins from an old Paper Pumpkin kit.  I put the watercolor panel on a Flirty Flamingo card base.Jen Timko - CC59 - Closeup

Here is a closeup of how the colors blended.  So pretty together!  I kept going back in layers to get the variations.  This is one of the best things about watercoloring for me.  You never quite know how colors will blend and each time you create, the result will be different.  I was totally right about this flower being the perfect image!!

The challenge page has so many beautiful pieces by the design team in all the different styles.  You are going to be in awe!  Just a note, this is my second post for the day.  My Freshly Made Sketches post was up first.  I hope you like my two projects today.  Looking forward to seeing you again soon!
