Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Woof Pack

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Woof Pack published on 27 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Woof Pack

Well, it is the last day of the February Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  It has been a great week and I’m super excited to share our final set, Woof Pack.

You had to know that Newton’s Nook would not leave out all you dog people out there.  After yesterday’s Company of Cats it is so awesome to have a companion set for dogs.  I thought it would be fun to make a few little “windows” for the dogs.  I stamped the big background a couple of times and then chose a few of the sweet faces to highlight (other than the German Shepard, I chose pretty randomly….no slights intended, lol…I have a soft spot for Shepards after having one for 12 years).  I colored using my Zig Clean Color Markers and then added some frames that were cut with stitched circle dies.  The Pawprints stencil was a wonderful “go with” product for the dogs and I added that with embossing paste on Fog Gray card stock.

I thought you might like to see a list of all the breeds that are in the stamp image.  Jennifer Jackson was kind enough to provide this and it was super helpful in my coloring.

Left to Right:
Top row: Bulldog, Chihuahua, Boxer, Jack Russell Terrier
Second row: Poodle, Dachshund, Beagle, Basset Hound
Third row: Cocker Spaniel, Yorkshire Terrier, Boston Terrier
Corgi squeezed in between the rows
Bottom row: German Shepherd, Saint Bernard, Pug, Labrador Retriever

This week has been wonderful and I’m always so humbled by the kind comments left for me.  Thank you all for your encouragement and kindness.  And now, one more chance to win!

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Newton’s Sweetheart

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Newton’s Sweetheart published on 35 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Newton’s Sweetheart

Welcome back for our last day of the January  Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  I know you have been waiting to see him and here he is!  Newton!  And his sweetheart!!  Did you know he had one??

All Nine Lives by Jen Timko | Newton's Sweetheart Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Zig Clean Color MarkersThis Newton’s Sweetheart stamp set could not be cuter!  I love the sweet images and the wonderful sentiment choices too.  When I asked if the sweetheart had a name, I was told no so I am officially petitioning to name her Kate.  I might be biased.  But let’s face it, orange tabby kitties are so cute when paired with little calico girls, aren’t they??  From the mom point of view, I love the idea of Kate finding a nice fellow from a good family who has a solid “in” with a company.  When the company is named after him, all the better!!  The long distance relationship might become an issue but we’ll get to that problem later, haha!!

After I colored this cute pair using my Zig Clean Color Markers, I thought they might look great with some woodgrain and kraft texture behind them.  I used two of the prints from the Wood Textures paper pack and then added a heart cut from Corrugate Kraft cut with the Darling Hearts die.  I love this sentiment for Valentine’s but also for anniversaries!  So another amazing release is revealed and the shopping starts tomorrow.  But one more time, a chance to win!!

Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – Llama Delivery and Newton’s Candy Cane

Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – Llama Delivery and Newton’s Candy Cane published on 36 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – Llama Delivery and Newton’s Candy Cane

Welcome to the last day of the November Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  This release week is a shortened a bit due to the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday but we get to share two new sets again today!  And….there is a Black Friday sale on release day.  Yay for sales!

Special Delivery by Jen Timko | Llama Delivery Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Zig Clean Color Pens, FMS314I’m starting off today’s reveal with a card that doubles as my Freshly Made Sketches card this week.  The  queen of perfect layering, Narelle Farrugia, created this fun sketch that worked perfectly with this super new Llama Delivery stamp set.  While this set can work great for the holidays, I chose to make it into a birthday card.  I have some family members with December birthdays and it is always nice to have a card with nary a holiday color in sight.  Using my Zig Clean Color Markers, I colored these images and then cut them out with the coordinating dies.  I love, love, love this llama!!  The sentiment from the set fit well with the sketch too.

Sweet Holiday Tag by Jen Timko | Newton's Candy Cane Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Fancy Edges Tag Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Be Merry DSP by Stampin' Up, Copic ColoringI can hardly even contain my excitement over the last set for our reveals this month.  As always, we have Newton.  And this holiday version is simply adorable.  I chose the striped paper with splatters for my layering tag and then colored the image to match.  This little guy just steals my heart!!  I even added some splatters to his hat and scarf to mimic the paper.  What a great time I had coloring with my Copics on him  The new Fancy Edges Tag Dies are great for quick take and I love how you can choose different ways to add interest with the accessories.  It is simply a must have for holiday packaging!

This week of reveals seems to have flown by but that means you are really close to being ready to shop.  As per normal, these will all be available on Friday with the advantage of a Black Friday sale to make shopping even more fun.  And now on to one last chance to win!!

Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – Cup of Cocoa and Frozen Fellowship

Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – Cup of Cocoa and Frozen Fellowship published on 56 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – Cup of Cocoa and Frozen Fellowship

Welcome to day 1 of the November Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  We have such fun products to show you this week and we are starting today with lots to share.  Two stamp sets and two new stand alone die sets….wow!

Everything Nice by Jen Timko | Cup of Cocoa Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Snowfall Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs, Copic Coloring, Be Merry DSP by Stampin' UpOur first set I’m showing you is called Cup of Cocoa! ** Warning:  Triggers uncontrollable tendencies to run to the kitchen and make some cocoa immediately!! ** I used the Color Theory paper from Stampin’ Up and the Snowfall Stencil from Newton’ Nook as an embossing folder.  This is a great way to stretch your stencils and add fun details to a background.  I colored this adorable cup from the set to match the ombré paper.  Fun, right?!  The new Frames & Flags Dies create quick banners that layer wonderfully and all I had to do was add a sentiment from the stamp set.

Snow-one else by Jen Timko | Frozen Fellowship Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Frames & Flags Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Zig Clean Color PensFor my second card, I get to show you Frozen Fellowship.  This is perfect for holiday cards but it continues to work into the rest of winter too!  The minute I saw this set, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  I loved the idea of choosing one of the snowmen to stand out as unique and the used this fabulous sentiment.  Using my Zig Clean Color Markers, I colored all the snowmen in shade of gray.  Then chose this funny little guy at the bottom for full color (I confess that choosing which snowman to have color was the hard part, haha).  I used the new Frames & Flags Dies again here and you can see how awesome they are to create layers.

Yes, indeed, this is another amazing day 1.  And I did tell you there are two new stand alone dies.  The other one (which I will use later this week) is called the Fancy Edges Tag Die set and you are going to love it!  You can see all the features in the graphic below.  Now on to everyone’s favorite part of release week.  A chance to win!!

Freshly Made Sketches #311

Freshly Made Sketches #311 published on 4 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #311

FMS311 by Jen Timko | Snow Much Fun Stamp Set by Stampin' Up, Be Merry DSP by Stampin' Up, Zig Clean Color PensSo you know when you are stuck for stamping mojo and you need to pull out an old favorite??  Yeah…that was me for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches card.  Not really sure why I struggled since this sketch is fabulous, but some days are like that.  The lovely Jennifer Brum gave us one that can be used in so many variations.  And oh, did I note a circle??  Jen is notoriously intimidated by circles so a big shout out for her crafty courage!  (Love ya’, Jen!!)

Do you remember this stamp set from Stampin’ Up?  It is called Snow Much Fun and I love the little snowmen in the set.  I chose this fellow and did some quick coloring with Zig Clean Color Pens.  I did hand draw in the line for his hill so that he wasn’t standing in space.  I was super happy to have some coloring time and then realized that my sentiment just wasn’t going to fit on a circle.  Sigh.  Well, I’m going with the “any shape” concept on the sketch and added it on a rectangle instead.  I chose a print from the Be Merry DSP (main catty, SU).

Tomorrow I get to be a part of a super fun month long event by Tracey McNeely, her 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2017.  See you then!

Wow, it is already the last of the Holiday Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  What a week of reveals it has been, don’t you think?  Yeah…I’m in love with everything.  But we are not done yet and we have two more stamp sets to show you before we are finished.

Naughty or Mice by Jen Timko | Naughty or Mice Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Zig Clean Color Pens, Wink of StellaThe first set I get to show you today is called Naughty or Mice.  Isn’t it cute??!!  I just love this little fellow holding a present and hoping you’ll say “Mice”.  I kept this one nice and clean with just a few bits of sparkle.  I colored him using my Zig Clean Color Pens and then added some Wink of Stella.

Naughty or Mice Closeup by Jen Timko | Naughty or Mice Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Wink of StellaThis is such a sweet little set and another one that is great for coloring.  And if you love coloring, then the second set I have today is going to make you really happy!  Yes, our friend Newton is back and he gets to be Santa Paws Newton.

I Believe by Jen Timko | Santa Paws Newton by Newton's Nook Designs, Copic ColoringSince I have been using a traditional color scheme so much this week, I stuck with that as I colors this sweet little Newton.  I think the little mouse is a true believer, don’t you?!

So this week has been a bit of a whirlwind!  So many amazing products that will all be available tomorrow (Friday).  I think there is something for everyone’s holiday wish list!  But we still have one more chance for you to win.

Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Autumn Newton

Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Autumn Newton published on 28 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Autumn Newton

Welcome to the last of the August release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  I’m sure you have been waiting to see what Newton would be up to this month and we finally get to share!  He is getting ready for Fall!!  I knew I loved that kitty!

Pile of Fun by Jen Timko | Autumn Newton by Newton's Nook Designs, Zig Clean Color Markers, Fall Cat Card, Calico CatI have been getting a little push back from a certain calico I know that there have not been any Kate’s in my Newton release repertoire lately.  I tried to tell her that calico orange is difficult to match with other colors, especially in spring and summer palettes.  I was rewarded with a sprinkling of kitty glitter (cat fur) all over everything to prove the error of my ways.  Thankfully, “calico” matches fall perfectly so here she is.  Kate playing in the leaves!!  After stamping in Versafine Onyx Black ink, I colored the image on the Bristol paper using my Zig Clean Color Markers.  I used a couple of shades of each color to mimic the shading on the leaves we get in our yard every autumn.  To created the card, I used a sheet from my old This and That books from SU.  These were smash styled scrapbooks that have awesome prints.  In a recent crafty cleanup, I found one of the books and removed all the pages that were unused “just in case”.  I totally LOVE it as a layer here!!  I put some corrugated kraft paper underneath and added a little twine under Kate (Newton).  Now I’m all ready to start feeling a little of the crisp cool air of autumn in Virginia (my favorite season here!).  And you know the deal by now….you can win this set for free (it really is a great part of release week!).

Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Knight’s Quest

Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Knight’s Quest published on 19 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Knight’s Quest

Welcome to day 3 of the August release from Newton’s Nook Designs (this is post 2 for today, keep scrolling if looking for Freshly Made Sketches).  You definitely needed something to go with the princess and what better than this new little knight in Knight’s Quest?!

Hear Ye Hear Ye by Jen Timko | Knight's Quest Stamp by Newton's Nook Designs, Magic Slider Card, Zig Clean Color MarkersI took a bit of a break from all the girly pink to create this fun magic slider card.  I had never made one of these are they are cool to make!  (and disclaimer…almost impossible to photograph!!)  I stamped the images using my Misti onto Strathmore Bristol paper using Versafine Onyx Black Ink.  Then I stamped it again on a window sheet using Stazon (make sure you clean your stamps immediately but not using the Stazon cleaner since it will damage photopolymer stamps).  I colored the image on the Bristol paper using my Zig Clean Color Markers.  My slider was created using the Sea Borders Dies to give a little place to pull.  I used some retired DSP from SU as the frame for our brave fellow and added the little arrow from the set to show that the panel should be pulled.  Want to see it in action?!

You can also see it on the direct link here:  Magic Slider Card

I wanted to finish the announcement idea so I finished the inside of the card with an actual announcement from the set.  Just a quick stamp and color of the trumpet and this sentiment is adorable.  Hear Ye (inside) by Jen TimkoI love the idea of this card for a little boy who loves knights, don’t you?!  Just so great to have a set that is perfect for little boys (and big ones since mine were obsessed with playing around with the slider).  And you can get the set free for yourself!

Welcome to day 1 of the August release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  You are going to have so much fun with this group of stamps.  I can hardly wait to share!  And we are starting off with unicorns!!  Yep really….unicorns!  I believe and you will too!!

I Believe In You by Jen Timko | Believe in Unicorns Stamp and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Zig Clean Color Markers, Land Borders Dies by Newton's Nook DesignsLook at these adorable images!!  They just beg for pretty, bright colors.  I stamped them onto Strathmore Bristol paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.   I watercolored using Zig Clean Color Markers in “rainbow” colors.  It is such fun to play with how the colors blend and the unicorn is the perfect place to try out combinations.  Once colored, I cut the images out with the matching dies.  I also added some extra clouds from the Winston Takes Flight set.  Love how so many sets coordinate together.  I created a curved layer using the Land Borders Dies and then sponged on a little bit of Distress Ink to help the image pop a bit.  I used Melon Mambo card stock to frame the image panel.  A clean card that focuses on the bright and happy colors!  Such fun to create and I can’t wait to color these images some more!!  And here is the best part…

Fancy Friday – A Fancy Top 5

Fancy Friday – A Fancy Top 5 published on 2 Comments on Fancy Friday – A Fancy Top 5

Welcome to this month’s Fancy Friday Blog Hop!  Our team is a group of stampers who love to make beautiful things.  Sometimes they are clean, sometimes they are layered but the one thing I can say for sure is that our projects will be fancy!  If you hopped over from Paula Dobson, welcome to the next stop.  For June we are sharing our personal “Top 5” lists from the new 2017-18 Stampin’ Up Catalog.  Choosing 5…that was the hard part for sure!

Fancy Friday - Hello by Jen Timko | Floral Statements Stamp Set by Stampin' Up, Watercolor, Zig Clean Color MarkersI managed to combine 3 of my top choices onto this one card to show you why I love them so much.  This new Floral Statements stamp set was an absolute must buy for me and I ordered it immediately.  I’m so glad I did!  Isn’t it gorgeous??!!  I stamped it in black onto watercolor paper and then colored it.  Super fast watercoloring!  But the result is fabulous!  I put it onto a base of the new Lemon Lime Twist card stock and I love the pop of color.  And as an accent to the pink, I added the new sequins.  These are the Iridescent color from the Metallics Sequins Assortment.  Oh my, these are a wow!

To round out my choices, I just have to discuss the new Color Theory DSP.  This paper pack will be a go-to for so many of your cards!  The colors and the unique uses of the shades is perfect for so many projects.  And last (but not least)….the narwhal set (otherwise known as Quirky Critters).  I have no reasonable explanation of why I am obsessed with this set but I am.  Totally fun, totally adorable…and just a little quirky!

So here it is in list form:

  1. Floral Statements Stamp Set
  2. Lemon Lime Twist (in EVERYTHING)…and the other In Colors are fabulous too!
  3. Sequins – Metallics, Iridescent, all of them!
  4. Color Theory DSP
  5. Quirky Critters Stamp Set

I hope you like my take on the top 5.  Now on to the rest of the hop!  These talented stampers are going to inspire you for sure and I cannot wait to see what they enable me to buy share as their must haves!  Next up is the lovely Shannon Lane.
