Picket Fence Studios May Release plus a SALE and GIVEAWAY

Picket Fence Studios May Release plus a SALE and GIVEAWAY published on 9 Comments on Picket Fence Studios May Release plus a SALE and GIVEAWAY

Welcome to release day with Picket Fence Studios!!  I’m excited to share for a couple of reasons.  First, this release is really outstanding (again).  But second, and most importantly, this is a big month for Picket Fence Studios.  It is their 1-year anniversary!!  And the whole team gets to celebrate by sharing a gift certificate with lucky winners.  That’s right!  Each and every design team member gets to give away a $100 Shopping Spree and a COUPON CODE.  Details are at the bottom of my post.

In My Prayers by Jen Timko | Peach and Piper Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Layers of Grass Stencil by Picket Fence Studios, Life Changing Blender Brushes, Copic ColoringSo first up on the release is a set called Peach and Piper (with coordinating dies).  I’m going to be REALLY honest with you.  If you want this set, you need to go to my link below and buy it now.  Like right now.  Because it is going to fly off the shelves.  It is so incredibly cute with fantastic sentiments.  I am pretty sure the whole team is making stuff with it because we simply cannot stop ourselves.  I stamped the little hugging bunnies with Momento Tuxedo Black and colored using Copic Markers.  Then I created a little bit of texture inside of the scalloped frame with the new Layers of Grass Stencil.  I love how it has the positive and the negative to easily ink both the grass and the background or sky.  I inked the little frame using Peachy Keen (Lawn Fawn) to coordinate with the paper but also to keep with the stenciled ink look (all the inking is super fast with the Life Changing Blender Brushes!).  I chose a sentiment from Peach and Piper and then added a little bird from Chirp Chirp.
Inlaid Flower Die by Jen Timko | Flower Negative Die by Picket Fence Studios, A Bright Night Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Alcohol Ink TechniquesFor my second card, I thought it would be fun to try and inlaid die technique.  I first colored a piece of Yupo using Wild Plum and Silver Alcohol Inks and then cut it out using the new Flower Negative Die.  It was easier to show you than tell you so I created a short video on the how to.

The direct link is here: Inlaid Die Technique

Now on to the details of the sale and giveaway. First of all, a sale. Yes, a SALE!!! To celebrate the one year anniversary, there is a 20% off sale.  How do you get it?? Click this link:  PICKET FENCE STUDIOS and use code PFS20.

For this giveaway, I’ll be running it on Instagram.  Later today, look for the post in my feed with all the details (I will be posting after I fly this morning).  I am there as jentimko or you can click my link in the sidebar on the right for IG.

Happy sale shopping and I hope to see you over at IG for the giveaways.  Thanks so much for stopping in. I’ll be back tomorrow with another card from this release and the latest from Freshly Made Sketches.  See you then!

Picket Fence Studios April Release

Picket Fence Studios April Release published on No Comments on Picket Fence Studios April Release

Oh happy day!!!  No really, it is a happy day!  Release day for Picket Fence Studios starts now.  I’m going to share two stamp sets and a new die in today’s post but the design team will be working together to show you the whole release so make sure to visit each one of them.

Beautiful Peony by Jen Timko | Botan Peony Stamp by Picket Fence Studios, Hello Beautiful Stamp by Picket Fence Studios, Daniel Smith Watercolors, Watercoloring I’m starting with a new large flower image called Botan Peony.  Oh my.  When I say wow, I’m not kidding.  This is not a small image (my card is 5.5″ square) but it is detailed and seriously gorgeous.  I stamped the image in black in multiple times using my Misti onto Fabriano watercolor paper.  Then I heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder.  I like the extra dimension you get with the embossing and it is nice when watercoloring too. I got to work with watercoloring using Daniel Smith watercolor paints.  They are amazing!  If you are not sure about them, you can get dot sheets with actual samples of the colors to try (I linked it below).  Once you do, you’ll be hooked.  I combined pink, coral, gold and a little green and blue in a loose style.  No real plan, nothing formal, but it is such fun to do on these big petals!  Once done, I fussy cut the flower.

Beautiful Peony by Jen Timko | Botan Peony Stamp by Picket Fence Studios, Hello Beautiful Stamp by Picket Fence Studios, Daniel Smith Watercolors, Watercoloring For the background, I used the Random Dots Stencil as an embossing folder to add a subtle texture.  I then used this great sentiment from the new Hello, Beautiful stamp set.  Again I stamped in black and heat embossed in clear.

Beautiful Leaves by Jen Timko | Leaves Negative Die by Picket Fence Studios, Hello Beautiful Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Tim Holtz Ranger Alcohol Ink, Concord and 9th Glimmer PaperNext up, I jumped on the alcohol ink bandwagon and used a background I created with the new Leaves Negative Die.  I used just one color of Ranger Alcohol Ink (Stream) and the Gold Mixative on Yupo paper.  I kept playing with the one colors and the gold and now have a few varied backgrounds that I’m sure you’ll see soon.

Beautiful Leaves by Jen Timko | Leaves Negative Die by Picket Fence Studios, Hello Beautiful Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Tim Holtz Ranger Alcohol Ink, Concord and 9th Glimmer PaperI took the panel and cut it with the Leaves and decided that I’d use gold glimmer paper in the negative space to play off the gold in the ink.  Again I used the sentiment from Hello, Beautiful except heat embossed in gold.

I hope you like these two looks at the new release.  Everything is available in the Picket Fence Studios store now!  Thanks for stopping in to visit.  See you again soon.

Freshly Made Sketches #373

Freshly Made Sketches #373 published on 10 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #373

Hello my friends.  I’m going to start off with a brief explanation.  I know that my posting right now seems to come inconsistently.  The truth is, I’m working very hard on balancing a lot of things.  The biggest of them has been my mom’s estate.  My mom lived in Orlando and I’m not there.  That makes things hard since there are many decisions to be made and many beloved treasures to be sorted.  So I’m going down there as much as I can to help handle that.  When added to my flying schedule, I admit that my blog is the thing that seems to get the short end of my attention.  I promised more details on my PFS January release and then promptly didn’t provide them all.  I’m so sorry.  Please forgive my distraction.  The last trip was highly emotional for me and I’m truthfully feeling a bit overwhelmed.  But stamping helps.  And my family is the best.  I’ll find my new normal soon but until the estate is handled, I think this is my normal.  Thank you for your patience and support.  It means the world.

And with that, I’m on to this week’s FMS card.  I love this sketch by the lovely Kim Singdahlsen.  It is fresh and clever!  And, as usual, I think I may have stretched it a little too far.  But whatever comes out of my head when I’m crafting is what I go with these days.

FMS373 by Jen Timko | Be A Unicorn of the Sea Stamp Set and Dies by Picket Fence Studios, Sunburst Stencil by Picket Fence Studios, Watercolor, Life Changing Blender BrushesI love the Be a Unicorn of the Sea set by Picket Fence Studios and I thought it might be fun for the sketch.  But what about the diagonals?  Oh yeah….the new stencils!!  And an idea was born.  The Sunburst Stencil seemed perfect when I chose a few select “beams” and inked them with Distress Ink using the Life Changing Blender Brushes.  I chose one of the small brushes because it fits in the beams perfectly without me having to tape and cover the others.  Nice and simple!  I inked up another piece of Bristol and then cut it out with a stitched circle as a background for my narwhal.

I have to confess that I love narwhal images.  And this set is the BEST!  The sentiments are such fun and useful for so many occasions.  They are encouraging and kind!!  I colored the narwhal with my Zigs to coordinate and then chose some Audrey Blue (SSS) as a background to make the colors pop.  I love the Shark Bite Sequins too so of course I added a few.

Thank you so much for stopping in today.  I’m grateful you choose to spend a few moments of your day with me.  Make sure you hop over to see the inspiration from the whole team.  See you soon!

Picket Fence Studios December Release

Picket Fence Studios December Release published on 1 Comment on Picket Fence Studios December Release

It is the 14th of the month and that means today is a super fun day at Picket Fence Studios!  Time for the December release!!  I have two cards to share with you for the release and I know the team will have lots to share too.

Have a Cheerful Day by Jen Timko | Have a Cheerful Day Stamp Set and Die by Picket Fence Studios, Copic ColoringLet’s get started with this ADORABLE image!  Oh. My. Word.  So cute.  And such fun to color.  I stamped her in the Black Hybrid Ink and then colored with my Copic Markers.  Super awesome news here too….there are dies on every release now.  I do love a coordinating die!!

Have a Cheerful Day by Jen Timko | Have a Cheerful Day Stamp Set and Die by Picket Fence Studios, Copic ColoringSo I cut her out with the die and decided to keep the rest of the card simple so as to focus on the image.  I cut a scalloped frame and stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set.  With all the Christmas cards I have been trying to make last minute, this release is a great change of pace!

Your Special Day by Jen Timko | Spotlight on You Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Distress Ink, Life Changing Blender BrushesWith my next card I tried to do what I never do enough…make a masculine card.  I have so many men in my life that need cards so you’d think I be a pro but nope.  I thought this set really called for me to give it a go.  I stamped in Versafine Ink (because it stays wet long enough to emboss) and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  Out came the Life Changing Blender Brushes again and I blended on oranges and yellows until I was happy.  I cute my inked panel down with some stitched rectangle dies and then used part of the cut off piece for the sentiment panel (all the coloring was done, after all).  I found some sequins in my stash that matched and then put the panel on a black card base.  My high schooler agreed that it looks like a “man card” so I’m going to call it mission complete.

Make sure you hop over to the Picket Fence Studios site to see the whole release!  You will love it!  Thanks for stopping in today.  Hope you have a great weekend.

Freshly Made Sketches #367

Freshly Made Sketches #367 published on 7 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #367

It was no surprise that last week’s gallery at Freshly Made Sketches was particularly fantastic…a Design Team Call certainly brings out everyone’s best!  And we are at it again for this week’s sketch too.  And oh what a great one it is!

FMS367 by Jen Timko | Let It Snow Stamp Set and Dies by Honey Bee Stamps, Striped Frame Cover Panel by Reverse Confetti, Life Changing Blender BrushesThe incredible Karren Johnson created this one and it has tons of potential for creativity.  I saw the layered rectangles and immediately thought of this great cover panel from Reverse Confetti (Striped Frame).  I cut it from white card stock.  With the little rectangle in the middle, I added distress ink using the Life Changing Blender Brushes.  Even on regular card stock, these really do make blending SOOO much easier!

I stamped the snowman from Let It Snow (Honey Bee Stamps), some snowflakes and the sentiment all in Hybrid Ink.  Then I added a little bit of Copic coloring to the snowman.  I hand cut the words and then added all the elements using foam tape.  There is something about this fellow and his snowflakes that makes me happy every time I pull him out.  Maybe it is the easy coloring but I’m pretty sure it is the simple joy he has in throwing the snow around.  It always looks like he is creating a magical scene to me.

Well, I hope you enjoy this one.  I’m back on Friday with the latest from Picket Fence Studios.  They are having a small December release that you will love.  Also…if you missed it…hop over to their Instagram page for a chance to win the entire release for you AND a friend!  YES!  Go…right now….ok, go after you go to FMS to check out all the details for the sketch.  Hope you have a great day and I’ll see you soon!

FMS358 by Jen Timko | Simply Wonderful Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios. 3-1/3" Blending Circle Stencil by Picket Fence StudiosI am so happy to share with you this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess this week is the fabulous Karren Johnson and this sketch is super fun!  Pull out your favorite trios!

I chose the Simply Wonderful set by Picket Fence Studios and used two of the flower stamps for the trio element.  First I created the circle with Distress Ink on Bristol Smooth paper.  The Life Changing Blender Brushes and Squeezed Lemonade Ink made short work of that.  Then I stamped in Distress Oxide Ink for the flower since the ink layers a bit.  Finally I added this great sentiment from the set.  LOVE the font on this!!  I layered onto some yellow card stock and kept the card super clean.

I hope you’ll join us for this week’s sketch!  Make sure you hop over to see all the inspiration from the DT too.  You are going to love all the cards they made!!  Until next time, have a great day!

FMS347 by Jen Timko | Happy Birds Stamps and Dies by WPlus9 The summer fun continues around my house and we have been busy, busy!  Hope you are having a great week too.  Our sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches is courtesy of the lovely Kim Singdahlsen.  I love her style…always something really special about her work!

I saw a circle and at first I thought flower (of course).  But I thought maybe I should stretch a bit so I flipped through my stamp sets and came upon Happy Birds by WPlus9.  It was PERFECT!  So I colored up this little cardinal and pulled out a previously inked and cut out panel.  I knew I was right to keep this stack of unused extras!  I thought the sentiment was funny because the little bird has a slightly grumpy look to me (although my 15yo swears he looks happy).  To add a little more interest, I embossed the base of my card with a circles folder from SU.

I hope you will enjoy playing along with us this week.  Please stop by and say and extra thank you to Caly Person for all her inspiration this month.  It has been such a joy to have her along!  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon!

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Coffee and Wine plus Wine a Little (and some FMS)

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Coffee and Wine plus Wine a Little (and some FMS) published on 32 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Coffee and Wine plus Wine a Little (and some FMS)

Welcome to day 3 of the June Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  Busy, busy bees we are today because the team has two sets to feature!!  And there is wine.  Because…Wednesday!  I have some Freshly Made Sketches too…also because Wednesday.

Coffee and Wine by Jen Timko | Coffee and Wine Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Serene Stripes Stencil by Newton's Nook DesignsAs with yesterday, the stencil was the start of my design.  Today, I chose the Serene Stripes Stencil and sponged on some Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink over it.  I just made it fade a bit as it went down the card.  I love stencils!!!  So much wow!  I stamped the sentiment from the Coffee and Wine over the stenciling and then stamped some of the images (all of this was onto Bristol Vellum card stock).  I colored the cup and bottle with some more Distress Ink and then popped them up on foam dots (Dimensionals).  I found some sequins that matched (YAY!) so I added those and then put the whole layer on a black base.

Sip Happens by Jen Timko | Wine a Little Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, FMS 342For my second card, I used the fun sketch designed by Amy O’Neill for Freshly Made Sketches to show off the Wine a Little stamp set and dies.  This sentiment (and the others in the set) are such fun and perfect for any wino oenophile.  Like me.  I created pretty glasses that I’d love to have and filled them with yummy red wine.  But feel free to color your own fave!

Because you made it to Wednesday, you deserve a glass of wine.  And a chance to win!  So you know what time it is…hop around to the whole DT and make sure leave comments.  They make me and the other designers smile really big and they really mean a ton!

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Loveable Llamas

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Loveable Llamas published on 28 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Loveable Llamas

Welcome to day 2 of the June Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  Today’s set reveal is sure to make you smile…I mean really, who doesn’t like llamas?? So naturally, you will fall for Loveable Llamas!

Have a LLama Fun by Jen Timko | Loveable Llamas Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Sunscape Stencil by Newton's Nook DesignsThis gorgeous stencil was my starting place of the card.  The Sunscape Stencil give you the choice of the sun, some landscape or both!  It is awesome!  I chose to use just the sun for this and sponged on some Distress Ink in yellows and oranges.  Then I got to coloring this super fun little llama.  I love all the options for him and oh, those glasses.  Well, they were a must to go along with the sunny background.  Plus, the glasses make the card super “cool” for just about anyone’s birthday!  I colored the llama and his accessories using Distress Inks too and then just layered them on.  This was just a fun card to make!

I love when a stamp set makes it simply fun to sit down and create!  So you know what time it is…hop around to the whole DT and make sure leave comments for your chance to win.

Newton’s Nook Designs May Release – Newton Loves Boxes and Newton’s Donut

Newton’s Nook Designs May Release – Newton Loves Boxes and Newton’s Donut published on 29 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs May Release – Newton Loves Boxes and Newton’s Donut

Welcome to the last day of the May Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  And for the last day we have not one but TWO adorable Newton sets for you.  YAY!!!  Yep, two of the greatest things in the world….boxes and donuts.

You Can Do It by Jen Timko | Newtons Loves Boxes Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Pawprints Stencil by Newton's Nook DesignsIf you have ever known a cat, you already know all about the phrase “if it fits, it sits”.  Well, the new Newton Loves Boxes is all about fitting and sitting!!  It is hilarious.  When Jennifer Jackson first showed the team the images, we all went just a little bit crazy!  Pretty sure that will be the reaction from all of you today too.  I created a background with the Pawprints Stencil and Distress Inks and then cut it out with the Frames and Flags Die.  I colored up out furry friend and his box and then cut him out with the coordinating die set for the stamp.  Don’t you think this sentiment is perfect for the image.  Seriously, this cracks me up.

Sprinkles by Jen Timko | Newton's Donut Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Tutti-frutti DSP by Stampin' Up, Copic ColoringFor my second card, I get to introduce Newton’s Donut.  Well, I actually colored MY donut.  That I want.  Right now.  But until I can figure out how to get it from him, it is Newtons’ donut.  *smile*  And because I am pretty sure sprinkles should always include pink and lime green, that is what I chose for the colors.

Sprinkles Closeup by Jen Timko | Newton's Donut Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Tutti-frutti DSP by Stampin' Up, Copic ColoringI made the donut into a chocolate version with vanilla frosting (a favorite of mine) and then tucked in this adorable  kitty colored with gray.  And there is something about the images with kitty “beans” (paw pads) that make me smile!  I used a base of lime patterned paper and some great (retired) pink washi tape to pull the colors from the sprinkles and then added on some sequins in the same colors.  On a technical note, I just have to tell you how well engineered this donut die is.  Look at the placement of the cut-outs…really fantastic and easy to use!  I love the time that is put into each of these sets.  It always makes me so proud when I can support Newton’s Nook Designs and their hard work!

This daily double is a real win and I know you will all be as in love with the sets as I am.  And now for a chance for free stamps!

Would you like to win the “Newtons Loves Boxes” or “Newton’s Donut” Stamp Set?

Each set will be given away to ONE lucky winner!
