Jen Timko - NoVa Friends SwapFor those of you who follow me on Instagram, you already saw the pieces of this card in progress of making it.  On Saturday, I went to the NoVa Stamping Friends event put together by two of the most wonderful ladies you could ever meet – Rose Ellen Eastman and Michelle Suit.  It is always a treat to go to these get-togethers!  I was pretty busy with my 10yo spring breaker last week but at the last minute (always the last minute) I decided that I really could not attend empty handed.  So I put together a few swap cards.

I just got this Shine On DSP and I have to admit that it surprised me.  In a great way.  I loved its predecessor from a holiday catalog two years ago so I thought I would mostly be using it for 3-d type items.  But once I got it in hand, I had to make cards….right away.  This is actually the second card I have designed with it and I’ll share the first in a few days.  The silver with the kraft is an unexpected and fresh combination that I love.  The colors on the reverse sides included Bermuda Bay and that is where my pop of color inspiration is from.  With the cool print on the DSP, I didn’t want to clutter things up too much.  I punched out some Kraft Card Stock with a 2-1/2″ Circle Punch.  Using my Big Shot, I pulled out my Butterflies Thinlits and my Greetings Thinlits and cut Bermuda Bay Card Stock.  I attached the circle with Dimensionals and then used Glue Dots on the two thinlet pieces.  I added on some silver sequins from the Metallics Sequins.  Because I started late in the afternoon on Friday, I ran out of time when putting them together so the ones in the stack below are without sequins.  This is a public service announcement showing why you should always start making your swaps sometime earlier than 4p the day before…..  yeah….just sayin’!  Oh well, I’m just happy they were all glued together!  And the lighting on the photo…also part of the PSA about not waiting until the last minute and then remembering to take a photo in bad lighting with your phone.  *smile*

I made some lovely make-n-take cards while at the event and received some beautiful swaps in return.  I’m going to get nice pictures of those and share them soon.  I’m so glad you stopped in with me today.  See you again tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches!
