Jen Timko - Botanical RoseI really wanted to use this title on the post:  “In which I say happy anniversary to Altenew, show what I have learned about Chameleon pens, and profess undying thanks to Lydia”  (format courtesy of Lydia)  I think we can agree that would have been a bit cumbersome.  But it is really what this post is about!

First of all, I wanted to share this card that is inspired by the 2nd Anniversary of Altenew.  This company is so fabulous and the inspiration they have provided through beautiful designs and an amazing design team are a stand out in the industry!  This set, Botanical Blooms, is pretty new and I’m completely enamored with it.  Such pretty, pretty images!  I wanted to make a clean card (yeah….I know, I always do) that showed off the lovely details in these stamps.  I stamped them with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and added a sentiment from Watercolor Wishes (SU) stamped in Versafine Black Ink.

Then I get to part two of my post….Chameleon Pens.  These are a unique way to color using alcohol pens that have all the shading care of one pen.  The dear Ilina Crouse sent me the Pastel Tones set and that is all I have used for coloring here.  In fact, I only used three of them (Y03-Warm Sunset, CG8-Cool Gray, and PK3-Bubble Gum).  I am getting better at shading and timing the infusions and they are really fun to use.  This is what I was working on the other day when a friend came over to visit….she colored some pretty flowers too!  I added a few sequins that matched (two from Pretty Pink Posh and one from SU) and added a border of a pretty watercolor DSP (retired SU).

Finally, and this is big.  I need to profess my thanks to the one-of-a-kind Lydia.  I have struggled pretty much forever in getting a decent picture of a primarily white card.  As in, I take 25 pictures all over my house, edit the pictures, hate the pictures, take 25 more pictures…..   Well, you get the point.  So when Lydia posted about a new light box she got and how it changed her world, well, I had to run right out to get one.  I caution you that following Lydia inspires that result.  Being her friend can be expensive because she is always right.  When she says you have to have it, you do.  Just accept it and move forward.  I had planned to post this card yesterday but then I found out my Foldio 2 was coming and I wanted to wait to give it a good test.  Let me tell you what happened.  I set it up, took one (yes, ONE) picture with my phone (YES, MY PHONE!!!!!!) and this is the one I took.  I cropped it, lightened it just a little and done.  Threw on the watermark and I’m pretty sure I squealed loud enough for the neighbors to be concerned.  Now I can spend more time making things.  I’m so happy!!

So that is it for today.  Pretty much one big thank you post to Altenew, Ilina and Lydia.  Wow, I’m lucky to be a stamper!  Hope your weekend is fabulous!  See you soon!
